I recommend BetterHelp for people who need fairly quick help with an issue. It doesn't take much time to sign up and be matched with a therapist. I've used BetterHelp for 3 years now and have had 3 therapists over the time. The first therapist wasn't a good fit but the 2 after were great. When the first therapist wasn't a fit, it was easy to get matched with another based on my preferences. I like how you can write journal entries and send them directly to your therapist.
My gripes with BetterHelp are the fact that sessions are limited to 30 minutes and depending on how popular your therapist is, it can be impossible to get a session. At one point, I was only having sessions once a month (we were in the middle of a pandemic so that was part of the reason) which was not helpful for me at all. I think BetterHelp needs to up the session times to 50 minutes because a 30-min session even once a week, especially in the beginning of the relationship, is NOT enough time. My other gripe is that you can't choose your own therapist, they choose one for you. I wish there was a way you could get a list of therapists licensed in your area and then can select one yourself.
Overall, I recommend BetterHelp, especially for those living overseas. I lived overseas for a while and it was a great way to get help in a non-English speaking country.
Pros and Cons:
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
