After this post (coincidence?) I did hear back from Vroom and they did agree to pay for the battery and paint job to ensure the car was fixed to be 'as advertised'. Based on that, I'm updating this from 1 star to 3, as the end to end process was still far from perfect.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I received my car (2017 Nissan Rogue) and the car literally barely started. In addition, there were a number of deep scratches that did not show up on the photos/disclosure. If Vroom followed up and delivered on making it right then no problem, BUT they've gone radio silent. No voice reply, no e-mail reply. In addition, I've gotten multiple requests for the same data. Not sure how Vroom stays in business, beware.
