    TAPfit

    Tapping into my inner dancer

    • Length of Use: Less than 3 months
    Overall Experience:

I've been a dancer most of my adult life, from intense performance dance in the 1970s, to ballroom and Latin social dancing into my "senior" years. Dance has always been my preferred mode of fitness, even when it was only group Zumba at a gym. I never did much tap, however, so I was intrigued when I saw the TAPfit program.

At age 66, with 25+ lbs. of pandemic weight gain on an already out-of-shape frame, I was determined to give TAPfit a fair try. And so far, I love it. It's fun and effective.

At first, I felt totally uncoordinated, awkward, and unbalanced, but after a week, some muscle memory started to kick in, and I was off and running (or, I should say, tapping) with style and attitude! I immediately noticed the health benefits – breathing more easily, feeling more energy, and recording improved blood pressure readings. I have been riding the endorphin rush during the day and sleeping more soundly at night. In addition, learning and keeping up with new TAPfit routines is challenging my mind-body connection on a daily basis. All of this happens in the safe environment of my own home, which is important to someone with a compromised immune system right now. So far, TAPfit is checking off a lot of boxes for me!

I did need to purchase a special pair of shoes to accommodate the strap-on taps. I normally wear a 10.5–11 medium shoe with a wide toe box, which maxed out the stretch in the taps. The more narrow shoes I purchased specifically for TAPfit are working out well.

By the way, Customer Service, reached out to me before I even received my starter kit to advise me of an error in the size of taps shipped and to let me know that a proper-sized replacement was on its way. With proactive customer service like that, the company truly gained my trust.

Overall, I'm enjoying my TAPfit experience and hope to continue in the weeks to come.

    Pros and Cons:

    • The positive energy and sense of community that Kat and crew maintain
    • The ability to purchase additional dance collections if and when one feels ready, without committing to a monthly subscription
    • The customer service, which has been exemplary
    • The opportunity to dance at home in one's own safe space, but still feel part of a group (the Tribe)
    • The initial cost (but of course, no one likes spending money)
    • The monthly subscription, should one opt for it, seems rather pricey in comparison to other web-based health and fitness programs

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
