    Les Mills On Demand

Les Mills cycling programs are taught by liars

    • Length of Use: 2+ years
    Overall Experience:

This review is for the Les Mills cycling programs. Les Mills uses the line "add a gear" all the time, but their Stages cycles do not have gears — they have a resistance or tension knob. Therefore, how do they add a gear without a gear lever or actual gears? Now one could say that there's a total of X degrees in the Stages resistance knob, and if you divide by 21 (or 18, or 24), you could create a Stages Gear by turning the resistance knob X/21 degrees. Well, Les Mills can't perform simple mathematics since in one video all three instructors turn the resistance knob a different number of degrees (~5 to 90 degrees) when they state to add a gear. In another Les Mills video, there are 3 instructors and one states to add resistance, but one instructor simply touches her resistance knob without moving it 1 mm, and then the instructors have the gall to say be honest in your workouts.

Les Mills has a program called "The Trip", which should really be called "The Acid Trip". In one video, you are riding on a road above a raging river (going with the flow), but the instructor has you standing up with heavy load, just like you're going up a mountain. This is very common for their instructors, they can't read the road conditions, and have you standing when it's obvious that you should be sitting and going fast, or vice versa.

Les Mills also uses cover music, so they don't have to pay royalties. I can understand that, but the lyrics for one of the songs they use is, "I wanna be with you", repeated over 60 times. That's it, those are the only words in the song. I think I'd rather listen to nails on a blackboard.

Les Mills should use the following slogan for attracting new instructors, "Can't do it, teach it. Can't teach it, become a Les Mills instructor".

I can not recommend Les Mills Cycling at this time, due to the incompetence of their instructors and their videos.

    Pros and Cons:

    • The instructor have enthusiasm
    • The instructors do not know what they are doing
    • The instructors cannot do the workout that they are teaching
    • The instructors lie consistently
    • The instructors do not understand bicycles
    • Many of their videos play Torture Music
    • Les Mills needs training on logic, math, physics, and bicycles

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
