I was "accidentally" subscribed twice to a program. That's something unheard of in any other educational/informational subscription services I've tried/I'm subscribed to. Think having two Spotify Premium plan using the same email/account.
Anyway, I canceled the duplicate account and forgot to cancel the other. I know, I know, I'm partly at fault here. But I didn't get an invoice or email notification for about 5 months. And the only way to cancel the subscription was via email! Then I was later billed, all those past invoices in one day.
In user interface design, you'd definitely call this a "dark pattern." It's not necessarily illegal but it's something that favors the business to the detriment of the user.
If I were you, I'd stay away.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
