    Bosley

    Life changer

    Overall Experience:

In 1990 I went to Bosley in Beverly Hills, CA after seeing an ad on TV. I was 28 years old and concerned about my thinning hairline. Looking back on my initial consultation, I liken it to some experiences I’ve had in car dealerships, very high pressure and lies.

During my consultation, I was told they could restore my frontal hairline, make it appear thicker and blend it with the hair I still had. They told me it would take four different sessions of I believe 50 graphs each session and wanted to start the first surgery immediately. Being young, stupid and excited about the prospect of having my hair back, I agreed. For the sum of $4,000.00 paid in four installments, prior to each surgery, I would have my hairline back. I was also told the healing marks on my head would be similar to that of a mosquito bite, this was certainly not true!

After the fourth and final procedure, I anxiously awaited the growth of my hair, but all I got was mutant looking hairs that grew in several different directions and made it almost impossible for me to style to look even half way normal. As the rest of my hairline started to thin, I really started looking like a freak. For thirteen years I wore a lot of different hats and at one point a hairpiece, just to cover up the mess Bosley had made on the front part of my head.

In 2003 my wife convinced me to see another hair transplant doctor, and after an initial consultation I felt comfortable with the doctor and the establishment and decided to allow them to try and fix the mess Bosley had made on my head. Over several years and three different procedures, this doctor was able to make my hairline a lot better. However, he could not completely fix Bosley’s mess, but it did indeed look better.

It is obvious Bosley has done some things right over the years, and they appear to be a successful business. Maybe I had a bad surgeon, I’m not sure. What I am sure of is how bad they made my hairline look. I am 55 now and still have a hard time looking in the mirror and not thinking about what Bosley did to my head. I did contact Bosley in the late 90s to express my dissatisfaction, however, it led nowhere.

I currently saw the opportunity to write a review after 27 years and wanted to take it, in hopes of making myself feel a little better and hopefully helping young people considering hair transplantation to conduct adequate research as I failed to do.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
