    Quip Toothbrush

Doesn't come close to my Sonicare toothbrush

    Overall Experience:

I had really high hopes for this brush. Small, compared to Sonicare, sleek, no recharging...just change the batteries. But after only a week of use, I switched back to my old Sonicare. Why? My teeth just don't feel as clean. I used it as instructed and even 1 minute with my Sonicare is better than a full 2 minutes with the Quip. Maybe if you are coming from a regular toothbrush, you might find this a better solution. I can't say. I wish it was much stronger and more effective. I've returned it and moved back to my Sonicare.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Quip NYC Inc.

      Hi Michael,

We are sorry to hear that you have not enjoyed your Quip! Quip has the American Dental Association Seal of Approval based on findings around safety, and efficacy in removing plaque and gingivitis. Also, Quip uses industry standard soft nylon bristles, as dentists recommend and the same sensitive vibrations as many other electric toothbrushes to help with providing a thorough, yet not damaging, clean. The truth is, as the American Dental Association and Consumer Reports say, any electric toothbrush will clean your teeth just the same if you're brushing properly. We created Quip to help guide the good oral health habits that matter.

Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about the oral care that we are trying to correct. One of them is the idea that “more power = guaranteed better clean.” As mentioned above, the effectiveness of a toothbrush comes down to how it is used, rather than if it is manual, gently vibrating, vigorously vibrating or rotating toothbrush. If they are all being used correctly (and have soft bristles), they will all provide the same great clean, it comes down to which type of toothbrush you feel guides you to brush better.

At Quip, we know that even making a small improvement to your brushing habits (brushing softer, longer, more often and with always fresh bristles) will have a fundamentally larger effect on your oral health than any change in movement or power ever could.

With that said, we certainly cannot speak to personal preference. The best brush for you is one that encourages you to brush two times a day for a full two minutes.

We thank you for giving Quip a try!
