Beverly Hills MD Lift + Firm Sculpting Cream

clever marketing for an ineffective product

    Overall Experience:

Like a lot of otherwise critically thinking women, I was drawn in by the Beverly Hills MD video and found myself impulsively clicking the "buy" button before doing even one minute of research. My mistake. The cream arrived quickly and I was immediately disappointed by the ingredient list, which did not show even one item that is clinically proven to reduce the signs of aging, like retinol or acids. But I gave it a shot, using the cream for 30 days. I saw not even the slightest signs of improvement in my skin, and I would compare this cream to an average moisturizer, on par with a drugstore brand like Neutrogena.

There are several red flags about this business that I would point out to other potential customers. The number one being outrageous claims which are cleverly disguised in the personal narrative of the doctor during the video. We are all drawn in by stories, but really what we all need to see more of are third-party clinical trials proving the efficacy of ingredients.

Secondly, I realized after I made my purchase that I had somehow inadvertently signed up for a subscription that would have automatically shipped more product to me every 3 months. This was a surprise and fortunately I discovered it right away and immediately canceled, but I'm sure that this escapes the attention of the majority of customers.

Thirdly, the promise a full refund if you are not happy after 30 days, but the return process is not transparent. They do not include any instructions on how to return in the paperwork which is unlike most businesses that want to make returns easy for customers. I sent several emails to customer support which were not answered in a timely way (within 3 days) and made several calls to the 800 line before reaching someone. I do not have time to sit on hold and I definitely do not want to have to get on the phone to process a simple return. My guess is that most people don't bother and add it to the pile of "miracle" skin creams on their bathroom shelves and forget about it.

I'm frankly embarrassed that I fell for this marketing gambit, but it's a reminder to me to always research products before I buy them.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Beverly Hills MD

Hey Whitney, my name is Samantha and i am the Customer Service Director for Beverly Hills MD. Thank you so much for leaving feedback about your experience with Beverly Hills MD. Customer feedback is what really helps our brand grow. I wanted to take the time to apologize for your dissatisfaction with the Lift and Firm Sculpting Cream. While most of our customers are 100 percent satisfied, we understand that everyone has unique skin types. I want to assure you that all of our products undergo safety testing. In a recent safety test conducted by BioScreen Laboratories, our products have been proven to be safe to use and "under conditions of the study, there were no identifiable signs or symptoms of primary irritation or sensitization noted for Lift and Firm Sculpting Cream." We do stay away from retinols and acids in our Lift and Firm cream as we use a unique combination of progeline, caviar extract, idealift, silk peptides, and liftessence in this specific formulation. In regards to your experience with our call center, I do apologize. Unfortunately, we are very overwhelmed with orders during the holiday season, so it may take our agents longer than normal to get back to customers. I encourage you to email me directly at samantha@beverlyhills-md.com with any future concerns. I will be sure to get back to you in a quick manner. Thank you!
