Turns out the company did attempt to contact me, both via phone and email, I just missed both attempts.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The policy is a 20-year level term in the 10th year, I had my suspensions as to the current value, however, the lack of a response seems unprofessional.
