It worked okay on my Windows 8 system, but on my XP System, I cannot start the computer. It took around 6 hours to clean the Windows 8 computer, but on the XP, after a few seconds, the screen went black with a flashing line in the upper left corner.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thanks for reaching out. The FixMeStick sometimes requires different booting methods on different computers. If you're getting a flasher in the top left corner, you will likely be required to start the FixMeStick using Failsafe 2.
