False guarantee

By Greg Pridemore, Verified Reviewer

I did a lot of Christmas shopping on this website this year.

I bought the same item for nine of my friends and family. I placed this order on November 27th with a guaranteed Christmas delivery.

I just received an email stating that many of the items I ordered for guaranteed Christmas delivery will now be delivered after Christmas and how "unfortunate" this is. There was absolutely no mention of any compensation for the wait or the fact that I will have nothing for my nieces and nephews to open for Christmas.

Of course, they did mention I could return the items once I receive them for a refund, I'm sure that will lessen the blow for my family. Now I will have to pay God knows how much for shipping to five different addresses so that they will get the present after Christmas, once I receive the item, whenever that may be.

I am extremely disappointed with my whole Zulily experience. I would have never purchased these items if they did not have the clearly stated guaranteed Christmas delivery banner. I would have at least expected some form of compensation for this other than an offer to return the item.

Who the heck is in charge of this company? I will definitely not purchase from this website again. Buyer beware, a guarantee on a shipping date from Zulily is absolutely worthless.

Still waiting for package

By Barbara, California, Verified Reviewer

I ordered Christmas presents for three of my young grandchildren on November 29, 2016. On December 7th, I received an email stating that the items were shipped and provided with a tracking number with a December 14th arrival estimate.

I randomly checked the tracking, which provided vague information on the location/status of the products. On December 22nd, I received an email stating that the items would most likely arrive after Christmas, with no estimated date given. So now I must go out and purchase additional gifts for my grandchildren.

If you order from Zulily, you may get good pricing but don't count on receiving your items anytime soon.

Scam. Received used shoes!

By Lori Van de Veire, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I ordered two pairs of ladies Sketchers well over six weeks ago. The first pair arrived yesterday, and they were USED sneakers! Nowhere close to what I ordered and not in the correct box. That is approximately $95 down the tubes.

Only chose one star because I had to. SCAM!

Bad experience

By Jack M., Iowa, Verified Reviewer

I ordered on 12/09/16 and it was delivered on 1/04/17. I had only received one email after placing the order, and I had to go their website for more information, which wasn't much, just an estimated shipping date was on there. Even when it was shipped, I received no email. There was a page with the items that stated there are no returns, so make sure about the item.

I don't understand the big deal with this company. To save a couple of bucks with bad service and no returns, in this day and age? I will never shop with them again. There are many other decent places to shop.

Ridiculous

By Karen, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

Honest to Pete, I have officially learned my lesson. Never, ever again will I place an order with an online company that seems too good to be true. I had been sucked into what I consider scam sites before (ones like Rosegal & Modlily) where they had really cute clothes at great prices. Weeks and weeks went by before anything arrived, and the clothes were never what I expected, either several sizes too small or of poor quality. It was too late when I realized that the pieces were not coming from a domestic company but were coming from overseas, usually from China.

I fear I've gotten sucked into the same thing again with Zulily. I thought I had covered my bases by Google searching Zulily and seeing that it was based here in the States, in Seattle, Washington. I SHOULD have also checked online reviews. Instead, I trusted that this was a reputable site that would ship my purchases quickly and that they would be quality pieces that fit me according to the size I ordered.

Well, it yet remains to be seen what the quality of my purchases are because as of today, January 9th, I have yet to receive any of the 12 pieces that I ordered on December 28th. In fact, only ONE of those pieces is showing as having "shipped," although technically, according to tracking, it's been in a processing facility in Hong Kong for almost a week now. It hasn't even arrived in the States yet! And, now that I Google the brands and companies that each of my pieces originated from, they ALL appear to be from China.

I understand now that Zulily is only a hub center that does not actually store inventory. I feel like an incredible fool to have fallen for this kind of ridiculousness yet again. Maybe my clothes will arrive when they are still in season, and maybe they won't. Maybe they will fit, and maybe they won't. Who knows?

I don't often spend money on clothes. In fact, I need to watch my spending very carefully. I am really afraid that I have totally just thrown my money away. What do I do if those clothes arrive and they don't fit? Do I return them and wait another gazillion weeks for the appropriate size?

Trust me. I will absolutely warn people against using Zulily. I have learned my lesson. From now on, I will use sites I know I can trust and can expect my orders to arrive expediently, sites like Amazon. And, at the VERY least, their site should list the expected shipping times when people place an order. If I had seen that it would be weeks, I never would have placed my order in the first place.

Starting to reconsider

By Holly Mclemore, Tennessee, Verified Reviewer

I have ordered a lot from this company, and my first few orders were exactly as described (and I was so tickled that I had stumbled on this site), BUT the last four or five times I have ordered from them I have not been impressed AT ALL.

The items that are coming now seem to be very poor quality. Shirts with appliqué started coming off literally after one washing. I ordered some earrings and one of them broke AS SOON as I unpacked it, and a necklace I ordered looked VERY CHEAP.

This will be more than likely my last order with time. This truly saddens me because I loved this site and recommended it to EVERYONE. Well, I'm pretty sure I'll start saying buyer beware. It is so sad because it was such a good company to order from, and I'm not sure what happened.

Bilked out of $70

By Allison Hammond, Verified Reviewer

I happily used Zulily for 2-3 years with only occasional complaints about their long delivery times or a substandard product, but I will never use or recommend this site again.

In January of 2016, I purchased two vouchers on Zulily for canvas photo prints from a company called MyPix2. I placed my orders and submitted my vouchers with MyPix2. Months elapsed; no canvas prints arrived. Each time I queried MyPix2, they said they were backlogged but that my prints were in production and would be delivered in 4-6 weeks. Finally, in October of 2016, MyPix2 stopped answering my queries altogether. I later received a letter informing me that this vendor was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and I was out of luck.

No problem, right? I contact Zulily. The Zulily customer representative tells me that because the expiration date on the vouchers was June of 2016, Zulily could do nothing to help me. They only could have helped me prior to that expiration. I explained that MyPix2 was still stringing me along at that point (and for months after), in bad faith.

Clearly, I explained, this was an unscrupulous company. Didn't Zulily vet its vendors? Oh yes, I got a long explanation of their vendor relations process. Well then, they should have known that MyPix2 wasn't on the up and up; doesn't Zulily stand behind the products offered on its site?

The answer, friends, is no.

If you get bilked by one of the merchants offering products on Zulily, tough luck. Save yourself time and worry. Take your business elsewhere. I won't be giving Zulily another dime.

Worst shopping experience ever!

By Jessica Villarreal, Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

I placed an order for the first time and was feeling good (at first) about the money I "saved."

Making a REALLY long story short, one of my items was "lost in shipment," with no explanation. Two other items didn't even resemble what I had ordered. And when I emailed them to find out why my shipment wasn't moving, they responded with some generic email as to "how their shipping works." Thank you for the mild effort, but I'm not illiterate, and I can read your policies. I'm pretty much counting on my other items being "lost," or just flat out disappointing.

I would not recommend Zulily to ANYONE. A complete waste of time.

A different buying experience than this site overview of Zulily

By Leslie Tunell, North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

I have to part ways with your review of Zulily. I'm in the process of suing them for fraud and disputed charges in the five-figure range.

Initially, I was super excited at the great merchandise, but it took forever to get anything, and they have unkind, rude and misinformed customer service reps. My biggest frustration is that I've been charged for things multiple times, and the reps deny it. I've asked to speak with someone in finance about the refunds I am due because of cancellations, but they simply DO NOT feel that they owe me my money.

They claim (even though it's a lie) that you're not charged until something ships. Wrong! They take the money out on Day 1 (for bank authorization) and rather than allowing it to drop off, they keep the money, and then they take it out again on DAY 5 for good, in order to pay their vendors. I finally got a supervisor to admit this to me because within a week of ordering some things, they had taken out $4,000 of my money. They denied it until I threatened to sue them.

They also don't credit the way they take the money out. Let's say it's $650, and if you do get a credit, it is credited in amounts like $19.99, $29.99, or $9.99, so it's impossible to reconcile the balance in your account because it's impossible to know which order it came from. They combine multiple orders in shipping and credit amounts, and remove things from your account once you start to figure out their M.O. to confuse you.

I've had reps hang up on me when I've asked for help in figuring something out (mostly to cancel something or asking where the money for certain orders are). If you want to cancel something and get a refund, they simply will NOT do it, and then they lie and say that my card was not charged, but when I have my banker look over my account, they have taken it out (sometimes even multiple times with changing the dollar amount slightly, like $1,806.04 turns into $1801.15).

They say to email them with any issues or concerns, but they don't respond at all, particularly if it involves your money and a conversation about that. I heard from a person named Amy G. once, who said she would help with my issues, but I then got an email without even talking with her, saying "I've reviewed your account and it's current, you have not been charged for ANY canceled items?" Say what? Then why is my bank account out $22,000 in four months?

I assure you, I didn't spend it at Zulily. They are committing fraud, extortion, and lying to customers every day about everything. They have no morals, and they do what they want and don't give a rat about the customer. They are owned by QVC now, but clearly, QVC is not aware or interested in what Zulily is doing. Anyone interested in a class action lawsuit can contact me.

Do not use this company!

By Tracy, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I ordered two items of clothing on January 26th. Today is February 9th, which is the day they said (after I paid for them) that they would arrive. Ok, 15 days; that sucks. Zappos delivers the next day and 6pm.com in three days.

Well, they did not arrive today, and I got no email to explain why. I checked the delivery date, and now they are arriving on the 11th. Zappos and 6pm.com do not charge for delivery, but Zulily charged $5. What the heck! It is just crappy.

Buyer beware

By Mary, San Diego, CA, Verified Reviewer

This was a terrible experience. Never buy clothing, lingerie, shoes, etc., things that might not be an accurate fit. Even returning the next day with tags attached, original packaging, etc. the buyer has to pay for the return, and then you get a store credit vs. a refund. So you are perpetually locked into buying something from Zulily.

I would have to pay $16 to return a pair of $22 shoes. Does that make any sense? That's the best Zulily will do? A whopping $5 store credit? Buyer beware.
