What Is 1MD Complete Probiotics Platinum?
Each dose of the 1MD Complete Probiotics Platinum dietary supplement promises to deliver 50 billion live cultures of 11 high-quality bacteria strains, from only the most reputable manufacturers in the industry.
Combined with delayed release, vegetarian capsules that are designed to resist stomach acid, along with prebiotic fiber to help the bacteria strains grow, the supplement’s website indicates 96 percent of users reported healthier digestion, while 93 percent reported increased energy. Just take one capsule daily on an empty stomach, or between meals.
You probably know that probiotic supplements are all the rage nowadays, so you have hundreds of different options to choose from. But how does Complete Probiotics Platinum compare? Will it really deliver optimal digestive health, as claimed on the website, or should you go with another brand?
Let’s kick things off by talking about what probiotics are.
A Brief History of Probiotics
The basic concept works like this: Bacteria play a big part in many of our biological processes, with trillions of cells residing in our digestive tract (cumulatively referred to as the gut) at any one time. There, they help digest food and provide support for healthy immune function.
Not all bacteria strains are good, though. Sometimes—due to lifestyle choices such as a less-than-stellar diet, excess stress, or not getting enough exercise; as well as a illness, or some medications (like a recent round of antibiotics)—the bad bacteria can outnumber the good ones, leading to side effects like bloating, gassiness, decreased energy, and increased susceptibility to illness.
But what if you could manually reset this balance?
Although bacteria cultures were used to ferment cheese and were recommended for consumption as far back as the Greeks and Romans, the modern idea of probiotics wasn’t founded until 1907, when Russian scientist and Nobel laureate Élie Metchnikoff advocated that gut flora (bacteria) could be replaced for health purposes.
Even then, it wasn’t until the last couple decades that companies started manufacturing probiotic supplements like Complete Platinum for general consumer consumption. Exactly which bacteria strains does the product deliver, and what kinds of benefits might you reasonably expect?
Which Bacteria Strains Are Found In Complete Probiotics Platinum?
According to the supplement facts label listed on the website, Complete Platinum contains the following (no refrigeration required):
- Bifidobacterium lactis B42L 15 billion
- Lactobacillus acidophilus L61A 15 billion
- Bifidobacterium longum 4 billion
- Bifidobacterium bifidum B66B 4 billion
- Lactobacillus casei L30C 4 billion
- Lactobacillus plantarum L23P 4 billion
- Lactobacillus gasseri L22G 1 billion
- Lactobacillus salivarius L107 1 billion
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus L08R 1 billion
- Lactobacillus bulgaricus L88B 1 billion
- Lactospore (Bacillus coagulans) 1 billion
- NutraFlora Prebiotic Fiber 100mg
In a nutshell, it might be easiest to think of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus as bacteria families, while the Latin names that follow them (e.g., lactis) might be thought of as individuals. Based on our extensive research writing about dozens of products like Complete Platinum, these are the two most common bacterial families found in these types of supplements.
With this in mind, websites like the Natural Medicines Database, WebMD, and Examine.com indicate that, in general, the Bifidobacterium family may help address some forms of diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and respiratory tract infections.
Similarly, Lactobacillus may also help relieve diarrheal symptoms, hay fever, eczema, bacterial vaginosis, H. pylori infections, IBS, respiratory tract infections. It may also help reduce cholesterol and symptoms related to rheumatoid arthritis.
Compared to probiotics, which are living organisms, prebiotics simply work as food for bacteria cells. They provide a quick meal as soon as the bacteria in each Platinum capsule reach your gut.
In this instance, NutraFlora Prebiotic Fiber is produced from non-GMO sucrose (cane sugar), with fewer calories but a similar sweetness profile.
Could Complete Platinum Cause Any Side Effects?
These same sites report that most people won’t experience any side effects from probiotics, and for those who do, they probably won’t be any worse than mild, temporary digestive upset, including bloating and gassiness (no specific instances or dosages noted).
On the other hand, if an individual has an immune disorder or is pregnant, they’ll want to think twice about taking a probiotic. With these conditions or otherwise, it’s always a good idea to speak with your doctor before taking any new dietary supplement.
How Much Does Complete Probiotics Platinum by 1MD Cost?

What Can We Learn From Complete Probiotics Platinum Reviews?
On the Platinum website, the supplement had received all five-star reviews from customers. But what about elsewhere online?
The only other website where we encountered any feedback was on Amazon, where Complete had eight customer reviews and an average rating of 3.6 stars. There, most compliments appeared to revolve around effective results (reduced bloating and gas, improved regularity, etc.), while most complaints referenced high price.
From a company perspective, Los Angeles-based 1MD was founded in 2015 and manufactures a line of other supplements including Complete Candida Control, Simple-X Formula, and Krill Oil Platinum. They held an A rating with the Better Business Bureau and three closed complaints as of 9/11/17. No additional details were available.
How Does Complete Platinum Compare to Other Probiotic Supplements?
As we mentioned earlier, there are perhaps hundreds of different probiotic supplement formulations out there.
A quick Google Shopping search at the time of our investigation revealed options ranging anywhere between a couple and dozens of stains, between 1 million and several billion colony-forming units (CFUs), with prices generally between $10 and $30. Even at their lowest per-bottle option, this placed Complete Platinum at the upper end of the spectrum.
How in the world can you cut through the marketing hype and figure out which option is best for you? Again, you should always speak with your doctor before beginning any new supplement, who might also be able to recommend options based on your specific diagnosis.
If they give you the green light, in A Guide to Buying Quality Probiotics, we outline that you’ll want to focus on the following:
- Probiotics and prebiotics only in each capsule; not a bunch of extra ingredients.
- A full list of ingredients on the bottle/website, including probiotic strains and CFU count.
- Don’t pay too much. We’ve found during our investigations over the years that customers don’t necessarily report better results after paying meaningfully more for a probiotic supplement than others.
- No free trials or automatic enrollment in a recurring shipping program.
- Be sure to read online reviews on consumer-focused sites like HighYa, looking for common compliments and complaints.
How does all of this line up for Complete?
Our Final Thoughts About Complete Probiotics Platinum
Based on what we learned from sites like Examine.com and the Natural Medicines Database, the bacteria families found in Complete Probiotics Platinum have reams of clinical evidence showing they may help address many digestion and immune-related ailments.
On top of this, they come from a company with mostly positive online customer feedback, who stands behind the supplement with a 90-day money back guarantee. They also provide a complete list of ingredients, dosages, strains, and CFU count for each probiotic family found in their supplement.
Will they work for you? There’s ultimately no way to know without giving it a try. But at the higher end of the price spectrum, we think it’s important that you explore all your options—with your doctor’s assistance, of course—before placing an order.
But if you feel like rolling the dice, it doesn’t appear that you’ll be out much more than return S&H charges if you give Complete Probiotics Platinum a try and aren’t satisfied with its results.

Best probiotic on the market!
First, let me say I’ve tried countless brands of probiotics, but none worked even half as well as these 1MD probiotics. I noticed immediate results- less bloating, less digestive issues, regularity, weight loss, and healthier immune system. And I haven’t been sick once since I started taking this product! I can’t imagine living without them.

Method of doing business
I paid for expedited shipping as it appeared I would have the order in a couple of days. NOT SO. And when I chatted, they made certain it was my error. I had to jump through many sales attempts just to complete a single order. I do not like that tactic.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
