Very Unhappy - Are Coatings Safe?

By Chris, Florida, Verified Reviewer

I am throwing away the $60 Copper Chef square pan I bought 5 months ago. I have experienced uneven cooking due to the concave shape of the bottom, foods are sticking and the "copper" bottom has begun to wear off, exposing aluminum.

I also wonder if it's safe to eat foods heated on Copper Chef's "Cerami-Tech" coating over time since the other features wore off so early.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Disappointed

By Judi Good, Coeur d Alene, ID, Verified Reviewer

I bought the pan about 2 months ago and for the first month everything was fine. Then things started sticking, and by now an egg is stuck so badly in breaks the yolk when trying to remove it from the pan. Every thing that is cooked leaves a mess to remove and needs soaking like any other pan. I would suggest people just buy a regular Teflon frying pan for a few dollars and toss it when it stops working.

Recipes in Cookbook

By Vicki Johnson, Brainerd, MN, Verified Reviewer

The recipes in Eric Theiss "All Around Cooking" cookbook are not exact. I tried making the Mac & Cheese, which did not turn out. The Macaroni was crunchy and somewhat burnt in the bottom of the pan because of the cream, not enough water. Had to guess when it should be done. NOT A GOOD RECIPE. Threw it out. My granddaughter, who is 13, just about lives on Mac & Cheese, said it was disgusting, wouldn't eat it. It was like paste.

I like the pan but the recipes are not real accurate. The liquid was disappearing before the macaroni could get done.

Copper Chef Pan

By Ramona, MI, Verified Reviewer

I would never order this from the TV again. I ordered it in August, early in the month and I have not seen it yet. I can not get them on the phone, always busy and online chat is of no help. They sent the pan to somewhere I have never heard of, but had no problems taking money from my credit card. I will never order anything from them again. I do not care if it is good or not, prices are cheaper in the store and I should have checked. This was the first time I tried to order from a TV ad, never again.

Over priced and over rated

By Shirlee Rich, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

While these are attractive pans, they are not as they have been promoted. I have used them to cook eggs, bacon, hamburger, and several other things. Scrambled eggs seem to stick. I tried making rice crispy treats in them. That was a mess. They stuck horribly. I had to scrub the pan to get the mess out My nonstick pans work much better and I didn't pay over a $100 for them! I wish I had returned them within the 30 days. If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.

More hype, doesn’t last

By Clark K Cassel, Placerville, ID, Verified Reviewer

Pans worked great the first few times. Now I have to use oil to keep any food from sticking. Cleans easier when the pan is hot but have to use nylon scraper to get food out when pay has cooled.

Not that good

By Ronald, Indiana, Verified Reviewer

Had it for about two months now, it does not do what they said it did. It sticks without some oil. You can not cook a lot in it. I would get my money back but I had it too long now.

Don't believe everything you see on TV

By Mary, Montreal, QC, Verified Reviewer

I bought the set (lower and higher pans) at the end of July. I use wooden or silicone spatulas to avoid scratches and hand wash the pans. I noticed a deep large scratch in the higher pan after only 3 uses and I have a difficult time returning the pan because it has passed the 30 days, although they come with a 60 day warranty. I have also noticed that eggs stick regardless if you spray or coat the pan so it is not true that eggs slide off. So far, pancakes do not stick. With use, the clean-up is getting harder and if there are burn spots from the food, there is a need for lots of scrubbing. I am regretting buying this set and other products as seen and promoted on TV.

Poor Quality

By H, Albuquerque, NM, Verified Reviewer

I loved this pan at first. I made popcorn and just by sliding the pan back and forth on the stove the copper coating scraped right off the bottom like nothing.

You can see the copper color scrapings on the burner. Also, the center of the pan " bowed" with the edges on the inside lower. Imagine what it would do in the oven? The silver edging on the lid you can pull it away from the lid, it's not tightly secure.

This is my second pan. As for the first pan, after using it with a non-stick utensil, it got a small chip in the far inside corner. I thought to myself, “Well it could be a manufactured defect. I'll try another pan”. Well, I did. and what a disappointment. I went through two pans in less than 2 months use.

They're not durable AT ALL.

BUYER BEWARE! I returned both. I'm getting Gotham Steel, they have everything plus durability.

Disappointed

By Susan, Florida, Verified Reviewer

This Copper Chef square skillet is supposed to work on induction cooktops. It doesn't. My USA Nuwave Induction does, however.

I can't even boil water in it because it errors out my Induction cook top. That is the main reason I bought it. It also showed dark spots on the bottom after using it on the Nuwave Precision Induction cook top. But I cannot cook with it on that cooktop at all. So I'm disappointed.
