If only I had read the reviews first

By Paul Cooke, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I was so impressed with the TV advertisement about the Copper Chef Pans that in May of this year I decided to part with my hard-earned money to purchase them. As a single Dad with children at home, money is tight, but because I had the option of paying by installments, I decided to go ahead.

I was so looking forward to them arriving, and they arrived a few days later as expected. On opening them, they looked great. But then as I opened the extra utensils, spatula, drainer spoon, etc., I felt very disappointed in the cheapness and flimsy quality of it all. The chip pan drainer is ridiculously flimsy, and the handle comes off very easily as you lift out of the hot fat, which is very dangerous and I have never used that since my first experience with it.

I followed all the instructions totally, from the temperature of the heat on the pans to the cleaning, even to the type of cooking oils to use. The pans are totally useless now. Within a matter of months, they have become discolored and scratched from the internal parts for the pans. Oh, they were non-stick though for the first few uses.

These have to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made in my life. I wish I had never seen the advertisement and will never buy anything from this seller again. This was my first ever purchase from this place and will be my very last. Buyers beware! I wish I had read all the reviews first.

Brief overview of whether to buy

By Tom Stanley, Gardnerville, NV, Verified Reviewer

I like the pan, and would like to try it, if it wasn't for that darn long handle. Too bad it doesn't have a detachable handle, instead of the bolted on long one. It won't fit in my oven, and the sides are too high for a frying pan. I must admit, because of this, the pan is losing.

Love My Pan

By Carolyn Peters, West Covina, CA, Verified Reviewer

I've read a lot of negative reviews, but so far, I'm very happy with my pan. I've used it about four times and it was wonderful. I may be in for a surprise later, but for now, it cooks evenly and I've had no sticking problems. I've fried cheeseburgers and potatoes with onions; I did use a bit of oil and butter for the potatoes, as I like them crispy on the outside. You need to start with a low flame, until you get used to how quickly things cook. The handle gets hot near the pan, but the handle end was okay without a pot holder. I washed the pan with a bit of Dawn before first use, and I used a sponge with Dawn after cooking to wash. Wiping out with a paper towel works too.

Not that good

By Ronald, Indiana, Verified Reviewer

Had it for about two months now, it does not do what they said it did. It sticks without some oil. You can not cook a lot in it. I would get my money back but I had it too long now.

Don't waste your money

By Jill, South Carolina, Verified Reviewer

The Copper Chef is a fraud. The first time I tried it was with a couple of eggs, they stuck to the bottom so badly I had to throw them out.

I put a ton of oil in there to grill a couple steaks and it worked okay, but steaks burned really badly. My 3rd and final try was with an omelet and it stuck and burned and stained the bottom of the inside of the pot and also the bottom stained also. I could not get the stain out.

For me, as a disabled senior citizen, I really was hoping for it to work, I am on SS and forced to retire so my money is very scarce.

Copper Chef doesn't stand behind their product

By Jim, Minneapolis, MN, Verified Reviewer

I bought a 9.5" square pan and an 11" round pan sold by Sam's Club over Christmas.

I like the way the pans cook but I've used the square pan twice, and the bottom copper is full of scratches from my electric stove burner. I called Copper Chef, and they said I could return the pan to Sam's Club to get a refund and then buy a new one at their price of $75 to replace my bad one. I wanted them to send me a new pan to honor their guarantee.

To me, they do not stand behind their product. To me, a guarantee is to either fix or replace the product with a like one, not to give your money back. I think their copper coated bottoms are only painted, which will scratch, and I don't think these pans are as good as advertised on TV.

So let the buyer beware. The company is in it only for the money. I've also read that they these ceramic coated pans do not like oil in it to cook with. It will deteriorate the nonstick bottom. So they recommend not using oil to cook with and if you do, wash it off right away.

Horrible

By Bonnie, Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I purchased these pans in July. I used them and eggs stuck to the pans. I sprayed the pans with Pam, but the eggs still stuck. Nothing slid on its surface and when I tried to lift the eggs up, the pan scratched. I called to return the pans in September, and the rep convinced me to try the new pan.

So I waited for the return label because I had to return the pan before they would send the new pan. I called them back and they said they sent the label in an e-mail, which I never got. So in November, I returned the pans at MY COST. Then I get a bill saying that I owe my last payment. I called Copper Chef again and they gave me the number for COLLECTIONS. Collections? And I was just notified?

Anyway, collections said I needed to send them a copy of the tracking number, and I did so on the 12th of December. So I called Copper Chef back and told them the case with collections has been closed, but they have no proof of it being closed and they can't call them. And that since it had been longer than 60 days, and even though they have recieved the pans, I am not eligible for any refund!

What a rip off. How dare them. I have tried to get the e-mail address for any of the executives with no luck. BEWARE, do not purchase from these clowns!

Copper Chef round pan set

By Steve Josephs, State College, PA, Verified Reviewer

I ordered the Copper Chef round two-pan set from Amazon. Both pans have a slightly raised surface in the middle of the pan like a dome. The surface should be flat. If you crack an egg, it will slide from the middle to the sides.

The non-stick surface works, for the most part, unless you are trying to saute something and get a nice golden crust. The pan will retain part of the product you are frying and will need to be soaked. The longer the pan is used, the worse the non-stick surface works.

I went on the manufacturer's website and clicked to chat and explained my concerns, but the manufacturer just thanked me for contacting them. I was so excited with the prospect of a break-thru pan, but this is just another ceramic pan with a copper color.

Copper Chef

By Andrew, Dallas, TX, Verified Reviewer

I bought the Copper Chef Pan from Bed Bath & Beyond a couple of weeks ago. At first it was great, but after a few uses, the surface changed color and food start sticking to it. Mind you, I never put it in the dishwasher and never put it in the sink while hot, and I use a soft sponge and soft detergent to wash it. The reason I treated it so well is that I had a ceramic pan that I had to throw in the garbage after a month, so I thought maybe how I washed it was causing the trouble, but it turns out that it's BS.

I then bought a stainless steel Cuisinart set of 16 pieces for a hearty price, but it's FANTASTIC even if it's not nonstick, nothing really sticks and it is easy to clean, and it's shiny.

Don't waste money on any of the BS they sell on TV. Instead, give the money to a charity like St Jude, and God will bless you forever.

Too expensive for mediocre quality

By Rondi, La Center, WA, Verified Reviewer

I rarely buy from TV but I swallowed the infomercial hook, line & sinker! Way too pricey for what it is. For me, the lid is the problem. There's no rubber gasket (seal) lining the lid, so steaming veggies or anything else --- fuggedaboutit! ALL THE STEAM escapes, which pretty much negates the purpose. If I only paid half the price, it would still be a rip off! BTW, a few people said they complained & were told there was nothing they could do. NOT SO! Federal law requires the maker to refund 100% on any product purchased & shipped. If they refuse, contact Consumer Affairs & lodge a complaint. Consumer Affairs will throw a hefty fine at them.

Over priced and over rated

By Shirlee Rich, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

While these are attractive pans, they are not as they have been promoted. I have used them to cook eggs, bacon, hamburger, and several other things. Scrambled eggs seem to stick. I tried making rice crispy treats in them. That was a mess. They stuck horribly. I had to scrub the pan to get the mess out My nonstick pans work much better and I didn't pay over a $100 for them! I wish I had returned them within the 30 days. If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.
