Wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it

By Ronald J., Hubert, NC, Verified Reviewer

Great dog food, the best I have ever found. My Australian Kelpie is more alert, more in tune, and his coat has a beautiful shine. We don't use only Dr. Marty's but we cut it with other dog food otherwise we want to go broke, lol.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Too expensive

By Steve S., Tennessee, Verified Reviewer

Given to us by a friend whose dog hated it, we tried it. Sorry but I cannot justify a house payment per month in dog food. I love my pets but there is no reason this food needs to be so cost-prohibitive. Would love to use it but with 2 big dogs I can’t do $1000+ a month for dog food. My family doesn’t spend that on human food.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Dog liked it

Very expensive

Small packages

Smells strange

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

Hello Steve. My name is Kat, I am with Dr. Marty Pets. We appreciate your feedback. We strive to keep our formulas as affordable as possible, while maintaining very high standards of quality all-natural ingredients. We do understand that larger breed animals will need more food. In this case, we recommend adding Nature’s Blend as a topper to their regular food. This way your pup will still receive the great health benefits of Nature’s Blend. A great way to receive the lowest available price is to start a recurring order for Nature’s Blend or by signing up for our email newsletters. You will be instantly notified of offers and discounts. If this is something that interests you or if you have any questions, my email is Kat@drmartypets.com. Have a great day.

Bad customer service

By Kevin W., Florida, Verified Reviewer

I ordered online 3 bags and checked my email for a confirmation. 15 minutes later no confirmation so I resent the order and noted an immediate online confirmation. Next two email confirmations hit my email. I immediately sent an email canceling the second order (it was Memorial Day so I understand no one was available for a phone call). No response to my email. Next day I called the company and was told they could not cancel the duplicate order. I was very unhappy. The service person did not care at all and provided me a return form so I could carry their second order to the post office and pay return shipping.

Both orders arrived in one box. Now I determine that $30 worth of their dog food will only last my 35-pound dog 3 days. I'm letting Robby eat the first bag then will return it all and hope they honor their refund policy. I used Visa so expect no problem.

I would not recommend this company. Their sales video is materially misleading by not addressing the cost per day.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

Hello Kevin. I apologize that our email notification system did not send a confirmation promptly, leading to some confusion. I am sorry to read your review of our customer service. We hold our customer service agents to high standards and I regret that you did not receive the treatment you deserve. Our fulfillment center works hard to ship orders as quickly as possible, so that customers may receive their purchase in a timely manner. Unfortunately, once an order has shipped, we cannot stop the order. As dog’s sizes and nutritional needs may vary, we provide a serving size recommendation of Nature’s Blend on our official website. Due to these variations, there is no standard cost per day. All orders that are returned receive a refund upon 5-7 business days of arrival at our fulfillment center. As a courtesy, I would like to refund your purchase without any need for return. Please email me at kat@drmartypets.com so that I may have more details on your customer service experience and issue your refund right away.

Not a good experience for my 10-year-old shelter cats...

By Marsha M., St. Petersburg, FL, Verified Reviewer

My husband and I adopted 2 10-year-old shelter cats. One is blind and has high blood pressure. The other is old but they needed to stay together. We were happy to step in and give them a home. I want these cats to have a good life. I tried Dr. Marty's food and they would not eat it. I mixed it with their other food. I tried for several days. I determined that this is not the best "fit" for these cats. It may be a great product for some pets. It was a hassle to return and I sent it back priority mail, insured. I hope it works for other pets. It just did not work for my new "senior cats."

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Explosive diarrhea

By Andrew M., New York City, NY, Verified Reviewer

Hi all,

I am feeling so worried about our dog, Morton. He’s our sweet, little, 3.5-year-old, 45lb Bassett/Dobbie mutt and we’ve never had any health issues in the past. He’s actually a bit of a tank, whom we loving joke is "our little trash goblin" due to his fondness for street finds (which we obviously then have to pry out of his mouth - yuck?). But never any health problems.

We were so excited to start him on Dr. Marty’s Nature’s Blend because we love our little goblin and want him to live forever. We were so excited yesterday morning when we began to introduce the food to his diet and he LOVED it.

We have only been giving him 3/4oz with each meal (roughly 50 pellets) in addition to his usual 1 cup of dry food (grain-free, etc).

We did this yesterday morning and evening for each of his meals, and then this morning, for his 3rd Dr. Marty meal, we added a 1/2 a scoop of the ProPower Plus Digestive Supplement.

After his breakfast, we took him for his morning walk and HORROR. Pitiful bouts of panting, trembling, and explosive liquid diarrhea. Sorry. It was too soon after his breakfast for it to be the ProPower Plus Digestive Supplement, so it must be the Nature’s Blend.

He needed to go out 3 hours later for round 2 of more diarrhea. My poor puppy! He’s so pitiful. What should we do?

Is it Salmonella? Listeria? Should we take him to the vet?

We will obviously not give him any tonight or tomorrow morning, but should we stop altogether?

I’m so disappointed - I was really excited about this food.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Best ingredients ever!

By William P., Palmetto, FL, Verified Reviewer

I bought this product for my senior dog, he was beginning to put on some weight and was turning his nose up to his usual food so I began adding it as a topper. I mix it with a powdered raw food to mimic chunks and wet and he gobbled it up. I started using more Dr. Marty's and less dry kibble and now he is exclusively eating a raw/dehydrated/freeze-dried diet and thriving!

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Amazing improvement in old dog

By Jerry F., Knoxville, TN, Verified Reviewer

We have an older Labrador Retriever who was having trouble moving about or crawling up on the couch to sit with my grandkids. My son-in-law kept referring to how we will bury her when she goes and if we might want to put her down one day. When I took the time to listen to Dr. Marty's presentation about nutrition it made sense that most dog food starts out as that which is unfit to feed a human. Then fillers bulk it up, and the whole mixture is cooked to death and dried into brown kibble. So, I thought I would at least try it to see if I might give her improved health.

To my surprise, only a few days into using ProPower Plus sprinkled on her regular food and offering the Nature's Blend food as a treat (a couple of handfuls) each day, she changed from lying down while she ate to excitedly running to her bowl and eating with enthusiasm. She also went from barely able to crawl onto the couch to jumping on the couch to happily interact with family members again. I truly believe these two products have improved and hopefully extended her life.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

It has brought back her excited nature to be with the family

It's too expensive to feed a Labrador just the Nature's Blend

Good, but way too expensive

By Sharyn G., Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

The product is good, we are now on bag #3, I don't really see much of a difference, I have 2 dogs who are always happy...I won't be ordering anymore because 1) the bags are way too small, with 2 dogs it lasts less than a week, and 2) the cost to feed the 2 of them with this product is much too costly for anyone...I'm just being honest.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Won’t stop throwing it up

By Jennifer H., New York, Verified Reviewer

I have emailed the customer service a couple of times now and they won’t reply. It’s very disappointing as my cat was throwing up the food. I am still trying to mix it in so she does not notice the new food as much. Also, I ordered one bag and they charged me for four. I guess I will have to chargeback my card as no one seems to work there. 100% money-back guarantee...I have yet to see that, unfortunately.

HORRID Customer Service!

By Donald W., Texas, Verified Reviewer

You will NOT get your money back if you don't like this product, or even if you don't want this product. I sent this company 3 emails to support@drmartypets.com and told them NOT to ship this product. They shipped the product anyway and charged my credit card. I am returning the product. I called their customer service line and was treated like I was stupid or less than by a RUDE woman. They are refusing to refund my money. I will not let this go. I want my money back.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Obviously. Sick commercially raised animals, have sick organs! Not organic.

By Genevieve A., California, Verified Reviewer

I have had organic vegan animals in my teens live long, healthy fit lives. Being an organic raw vegan, the concept of enzymes and Dr. Marty's video was aimed to assure everyone his diet was the best preventative to disease.

Over centuries, human companion animals have been domesticated. I understood their lineage to wolves, are perhaps like humans to the caveman?

I'm sure celebrities mentioned (including Oprah) and Dr. Marty himself said he started preparing food for his companion animals. If anyone has seen a slaughterhouse (even 25 years ago or before as I did a child), the animals are sickly (to say the least). In commercial flesh/meat industries, (see "What's the Health?" benign edited scenes next to PETA realism) the "human grade" meat often contains spliced tumors, antibiotics, hormones, etc. (Note: Dr. Marty’s is not even human-grade labeled.)

As a holistic practitioner myself, I know that the toxins obviously are throughout the flesh. Our role of a liver is to produce lipase to break down fats, too much oil, and collects most toxic matter eaten. (Or liquids, note: compare a liver of one who doesnt drink alcohol, to one who drinks socially, one who started drinking too much for 10 years, one who drank too much (alcoholism) since teens for 35 years). Pharmaceutical studies included. The livers of humans that were given or took alcohol or drugs for most of their lives vs. partial or not at all are completely inflamed, grossly enlarged, and full of that toxic matter. On factory farming animals start out given growth hormones, antibiotics, fed far from what is natural to cows, or turkeys, etc...Factory fishing is confined, our waters polluted, many salmon grown in tanks given who knows what?

I would think Oprah and Dr. Marty have their chefs go find at least organically grown, humane as possible...sentient animals killed for humans that still consume animal flesh. The chefs like industry stylists, hairdressers, etc. have their "ins" to the "best organic human-grade organs". (Why do I keep remembering Hannibal Lector’s "Silence of the Lambs" where he describes the satiated ecstasy of a human kidney?)

For the price, even as a raw organic vegan, I have friends that could get organic human-grade meat (perhaps not organs), and I could find all the other organic blueberries, ginger already fresh in my kitchen. It would be a lot less to have them (God forbid my own conscience) minced, blend, add full spectrum omegas, probiotics to this raw mixture.

I know this companion animal likes organic cooked chicken’s breasts, and it is much more cost-efficient, and not too difficult to figure out how much her 8-pound body weighs.

Therefore obviously this is not about skimping on costs to give my human companion animal the best. In a vegan household, wanting what the pack animal is eating is often sprouted quinoa, and kale, or fermented foods. Sprouted almond butter on organic apples, as snacks, which this pup loves.

There is no question in the modern ethical sustainable household a canine could live a very long life, free of disease, adapted with wisdom of nutrients to a plant-based diet. All the animals in the "cleanly packed raw nuggets" just add water, routinely feed on grass, seed, and plant-based food if raised naturally. My dog would not eat Dr. Marty’s. I mixed it in with the organic food she enjoys, and she picked around it. I mashed the pellets well with warm water 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup. I tried for days.

We all want to do what's best for our fur children. (Well, not all. One would wish "we all" want to care for those we have dominion with.) Well, assured I could create the same organic ingredients, if I wish to make connections with an organic butcher. For a large nine or feline, or both if one choses to go back to roots of wild wolves, for our otherwise pampered, domesticated tame companions...I think it's best and most cost-efficient, not as "clean to packaging" to just blend the ingredients without destroying enzymes. (No ninja speed needed.) Even if you do, humans eat cooked food, which does rob us of our natural enzymes to break down the food. This led me after years to being over 10 years raw organic vegan (so did watching "GMO OMG"), even though I ate organic not knowing the horrors of what Monsanto/Bayer is doing to out children, fur children, food, environment...

Enough said!

P.S. Forgive spell errors, run-on sentences, I had to comment, and often lack the time.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
