Awful

Never use this company. I placed an order with them and it has been almost a month and a half with still no package delivered. They say that it has been shipped but international delivery is slow. I have ordered things overseas before and never had such a problem. They take a week to answer any customer service emails and the only option they have given to help for the delay is a credit for their company. (I will never use them again ever, so pointless.) Do not use them, they are awful.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Flaviar is a scam.

I have attached a copy of the emails that I have exchanged with them over the past several weeks. It should not take over a month to get a response, nor for something to be shipped through Slovenia. Really, you think we believe this nonsense.

FROM FLAVIAR:

The tracking number was included in the confirmation email we sent you on the same day we dispatched you order (Feb 13). Please comb your inbox and spam folders to find the email with the following subject: "Your order has shipped! It's Flavour Time."

I've also provided a tracking number with my first reply to your original message (please scroll down through the history of our correspondence). I'm more than happy to link the tracking number again: RG 0001 6797 2 SI

The USPS tracking states (follow this link) that the post of origin is preparing shipping, which is incorrect; the post of origin's tracking status shows that the parcel entered international waters (you can find the tracking service here; you can find the English language tab at the top of the website; also don't forget to insert the tracking number with the secure code).

Hey again,

I'm really not sure what we did to upset you so much, Brian. I've apologized for the long delivery time and offered reasonable explanations in hope that you'd be willing to understand our point of view.

No excuse Brian, just explanation - the regular mail sometimes really takes more than a month and here and there a package even gets lost. There's nothing we can do about it, but to apologize and refund the money (as we did). I would still expect the tasting pack to be delivered, since it's still in transit and there is no clear indication that it got lost (just delayed).

As much as I'd love to help, your request is beyond what we're able to do for customers, since we have already refunded you the money and sent you the tasting pack. We're in the process of setting up a US distribution Centre, which should cut down the delivery times by a considerable amount, should you consider giving us another try in the future. This should be a testament to the fact that we're doing all we can to offer the best possible experience to our US customers.

Brian, I hope I've managed to rest your concerns, at least a bit. Please let me know, if there is something else I can do for you, I'll be glad to help.

The February 12th order still hasn't arrived. What is your excuse for that?

So now you're just going to cancel the order instead of following through with it?

How much money does this scam actually make you? You only refund the money if the people that ordered complained to you?

I guess many people simply forget that they placed the order with you, and don't follow up on it. This makes you money.

Nice scam.

The Flaviar Welcome Pack, which you ordered on February 12 was not a one-off deal I'm afraid, but a preliminary tasting pack of a flexible monthly subscription, which allows you to skip a month or more or change a particular months tasting pack for another product of your own choosing. Flaviar Welcome Pack can be bought as a one-off deal through this link, but if I figured this out correctly, you've made a purchase by following a link through a newsletter offer we sent you a bit over a month ago.

I've canceled the order for the March tasting pack and refunded the money in full. I will issue a refund for the Welcome Pack as well, should the tracking status not show significant improvements by then.

If you indeed only wished to purchase the one tasting pack without signing up for a subscription, then I suggest you go to your profile page (here), choose the "my account" tab and scroll down until you see the button "suspend", which will allow you to cancel the subscription once and for all.

I hope I manage to shed some light on the situation and dealt with your concerns to your satisfaction. If you need further assistance, please, ask, and I'll be glad to help.

It's a scam

They took over one month to ship my order despite telling me it was sent two days after my order was placed. It then took another month for it to arrive from Slovenia to the US.

I am shocked to see they have sent this as a gift to avoid paying import and alcohol taxes. To sum it up, poor customer service and a company which is committing fraudulent import.

Terrible

I ordered a rum tasting set and was told it would arrive in 2-10 days. Two weeks later, I get an email saying it has been shipped and will be 2-8 days, along with a tracking number for a parcel that didn't exist. Another two weeks later, I contacted them and they say wait another week. Now a month after and still no parcel and no tracking. Awaiting refund, definitely would not recommend!

Terrible service for gifts

This seems like a great idea for a gift. Implementation was a problem, though. In theory, you pay, then they send you a certificate with a code that the recipient uses to activate the gift. In practice, what happens is that you get charged, don't get a certificate, and can't give the gift or activate the gift without several days of emailing with their "customer service". The service folks, hopefully refer you back to a page where you can buy a new gift, but don't seem to be able to generate the mysterious certificate.

I still don't have a resolution on this and I am going to ask VISA to revoke the payment soon. It's frustrating given that it could be a really great gift idea.

Waste of money, liars!

I order the flavors of Scotch. In the description it states there will be three .7 liter bottles for $41, which sounded like a nice deal. I received my shipment today and come to find out, it was three 45ml bottles. I am angry at the idea that their app LIED about the size of the bottles I was ordering and the fact that it cost so much for a very small amount. I am sickened. If I could could give zero stars I would. Also, I still have not received my rum kit which I am sure I will be disappointed about as well.

You're referring to the full-size bottles volume, mentioned at the part where we explain which drinks are included in the Tasting Box. As you get to add to cart button it is explicitly explained how much you'd have to pay if you wanted to buy full-size bottles only to get a taste and how many tasters you'll receive and what their volume is.

If you are really into expensive liquor and want to try tiny little samples before investing in a bottle I guess this is good. The promotions however are confusing as to exactly what you will receive for your $60 'membership'. I saw an article about this in a magazine that sounded like you got 3 months of samples - 3 small vials of whiskey the first time and then you get to choose the next 2 months of samples - rum, vodka, gin, whatever. In actuality we got 3 samples of whiskey for $60 and that was it. Oh but this membership 'allows' us to buy more expensive booze to impress our friends, detailed information about the booze, distiller, etc. So what. I can read all that stuff online and buy quality booze at Costco or locally. What a disappointing Fathers Day gift this was! There isn't any way to get your money back either. So with my membership cancelled I get nothing but a bad whiskey taste in my mouth.

You have contacted our customer care on July 15 and forwarded the link to the website that promoted our Father's Day Gift (3, 6 and 12 months of Flaviar Membership). We got back to you immediately with the full explanation of what the membership entails: one tasting box per quarter, monthly free shipping, access to exclusive content, online tasting course, exclusive deals, live events etc.

I'm sorry to hear you don't find enough value in what we offer as the tasting boxes are only one of the major club's benefits.

I've looked through our correspondence and haven't been able to find your request for a refund, I'm sorry. Saying that there is no way to get your money back is simply not correct, though. Here is our cancellation policy that can be found in our terms and conditions:

You may cancel your Membership any time by contacting our Membership team. Any refunds are calculated based on the 90-day Membership period as follows. If you cancel within 3 days of signing up to a paid Membership, we will refund your full Membership fee. We may charge you (or withhold from your refund) the value of benefits used by you and your account during this 3-day period. If you cancel at any other time, we will refund your Membership fee pro-rata, based on the remaining duration of the Membership, but only if you and your account did not make any eligible purchases or take advantage of Membership benefits since your latest Membership charge.

Totally Dishonest/Misleading Advertising & Merchandising

Paid $60 for 3 small tasting vials. Fine, whatever. I paid an additional $41 for what I thought was going to be an order of 750ml bottles (given the product page and description) and only received 3 more small tasting vials. So, with Flaviar, you are given the opportunity to spend obscene amounts of money on single servings of whiskey.

I do not recommend anyone waste their money with this scam.

terrible idea waste of money

You get three 1.5oz bottles of whiskey for your $60 subscription. That is all you get. "Access" to more sampling and deals are not good deals. The bottles are tiny and very, very fragile. Two of my three samples broke before I got to try them. The bottom of the bottles fell right out. Just go to a bar and try some whiskeys, a much more cost effective way to go.

Not worth the money

My six-month subscription was a Christmas gift from my wife, and initially, I was very excited about it.

And then the Welcome Box came. There were three vials of not even a finger of mediocre whiskey. Definitely not a box I would have chosen, but there goes one of two boxes that were paid for. I looked at the pricing for some of the bottles I was interested in and they were the same, if not more expensive, than buying it locally (never mind the hassle of having to pick the box up from from FedEx since they need a signature and only deliver during the day while I'm at work).

The second tasting box is on its way now, so that's $20 per vial. You get better prices (and a more generous pour) by just going to a bar. The only way this might be worth it is if you don't have any stores with any kind of selection near you. Don't waste your money; try them at a decent bar and then buy the bottle somewhere else.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
