Does NOT Live Up To The Hype

By Jacqueline Adler, Nevada, Verified Reviewer

I wish I would have read buyers' reviews, prior to making my purchase. I believed the hype, I believed the commercials, and I jumped too quickly to purchase this 9.5" Gotham Steel Pan. I bought it for the purpose of replacing my standard non-stick frying pan that had become scratched over the years. I use this size frying pan mainly for cooking eggs. I always use a small amount of butter or some type of grease, even in any non-stick pan, and it was no different for this pan.

Well, to put it quite simply, my eggs stuck to the pan. They did not slide around, as you see in the commercial. In fact, it took so much spatula action to loosen the eggs, that the yolks broke. I've used the pan about 5 times now, with the same result each time. Anything I put in the pan sticks. I'm very disappointed in this pan, and if I can save someone else the disappointment and money spent on this garbage, I will be somewhat placated.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Disappointment

By Gillian Campbell, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

I ordered the one small pan and then another complimentary pan. The automatic phone order constantly added advertisements, which was very annoying, but not as annoying when my $19.99 plus shipping order came to over $100. I called the next day to cancel, only to learn that I was not in the system. Good, I thought, my hang up on them was acknowledged. No, it is already on its way with no way to cancel. I never received that email with my confirmation number. My advice. Do not place orders with them.

My Gotham Experience

By Yvette Jackson, Rosedale, NY, Verified Reviewer

I was quite disappointed with the Gotham pan, to say the least! After hearing SO much about it, I couldn't wait to experience it for myself, namely because it guaranteed that it was virtually stick-proof!

I made Grilled Cheese sandwiches the very next day after receiving his pan. I noticed that the ham residue had to be washed in order to really get the pan clean. It did NOT wipe off as advertised.

Next, I made Bacon and pancakes. The bacon DID stick, and (like the ham), I had to wash the pan well with a cleansing pad. That being said, I feel that the Infomercial was a bit deceiving. The pan did NOT perform as advertised.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Warranty?

By Scott, Englewood, TN, Verified Reviewer

I received this pan as a gift. Followed the directions with pan. I only use wooden utensils, never cooking sprays, and always wash with soapy water and dishrag when needed. After several months of everyday use at home, I noticed some specks the size of pepper flakes, I thought something was stuck. It wasn't, it was flakes of coating coming off the pan. I called the company, a polite young man answers. First question: did you buy it from a store or our website? 2nd: last four digits of the card used to pay for the pan(s) purchased. Because I received the pan as a gift I didn't know that. I even offered to send the pan to Gotham at my expense for a determination. They said again if I didn't have that info they couldn't help me.

I have since tossed it and gone back to my 100+ year old iron skillets and decided not to pursue this any further. I would think very hard about spending money on anything as seen on TV. The person that gave me this pan also bought 4 more for gifts and the others are having problems as well.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Disappointed big time!

By Teresa, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I purchased these pans from Canadian Tire, and although they were good for the first month or two, they are NOT what they claim to be now. Now when I cook with them, everything sticks. Even when I make basic scrambled eggs, I have to soak the pan and SCRUB the pan to get food off. I'm extremely DISAPPOINTED with these pans now. How do I get my money back?

Eggs can't be scrapped off

By L Fabian, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I bought this pan to fry eggs. The eggs stick like super glue. You have to put oil in the pan and scrap it under the egg to get it loose. That wouldn't be so bad, I don't mind adding a little butter or olive oil, but there is a crown in the middle of the pan, so any liquid runs off to the sides of the pan and the egg is still on dry land and stuck like glue.

Not a wonder pan after all!

By Byron F. Hoover, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The TV commercials, which are designed to market Gotham Steel fry pans, glorify the fry pan as stick free. Not true! It is very very difficult to clean the stuck on food.

Simply put, I can no longer use my pan due to the way food sticks to the pan. Not even oven off cleaner works well! For the first few weeks at least, the pan was easier to clean. Now it is a nightmare to try and clean, and it is the worst pan is my cupboard! All food being cooked in it sticks as if it was glued on. It really is no longer usable.

To be certain, I do not want a replacement pan nor do I want my money back. I'll just chalk it up to the Gotham Steel experience!

I bought this pan in a store which exclusively sells TV advertised goods in the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, roughly three months ago The average use is about 1 to 1.5 times per week.

Why I am upset the way I am is not so much the pan. After all, it is just a pan! It is for the false dialogue and excessive energy used in the TV commercials promoting the pan. I have come to believe these commercials were most misleading to the consumer. Also, the commercials very highly overrate the product quality.

I feel I was conned because I wanted to believe that what was being said in those commercials was true and accurate. I was wrong! Because of their betrayal of my trust, I now have a very dim view of Gotham Steel commercials and products.

My motivation in preparing this review is to vent my frustration in the hope that someone at Gotham Steel just might rethink their marketing standards and take appropriate action.

Beautiful piece of garbage - burn residue will not come off!

By Laurie P., Maryland, Verified Reviewer

I, too, fell for this scam. Right out of the gate, whether you use the pans dry or with oil, everything sticks and burns onto the surface. I soak them for days, scrub with the rough plastic part of a sponge, and nothing, the burned on residue remains. If I scrub hard enough to get the residue off, the surface of the pan comes off too, and is dull and then sticks worse the next time.

I called the customer support number today and it's one of those companies that sells 100 gimmick products and this one wasn't even listed in their myriad of options. I pressed 0 and got the rudest, most abrupt representative I've had the displeasure of talking to in a long time...CUSTOMER SUPPORT! She told me she'd never heard of this problem before...I'm the first and only one, right! She said to clean the pans with Brillo pads, only Brillo, and they will come clean. I asked her why the cleaning directions don't say that if that's the only way to get them clean and she just said "get them." As I told her, I have never used Brillo pads, have never needed to on any cookware my entire life, but now I have to have special pads to clean these horrible pans. Yeah, right. They are going right back to the store instead.

DO NOT BUY these, or if you fall for their beauty and the promise, hold onto your receipt and don't mess with their customer non-support, just return them to the store within the return window. Total scam! I can't even believe these are still sold anywhere, they're that bad.

Worst Experience ever.

By Kim Kowalczyk, Jackson, New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I purchased this at the supermarket at one of their promotional stands. I figured I would save on the shipping & handling.

Got it home and the cheese from a grilled cheese sandwich stuck on the first try. I cleaned it and everything stuck on each try until I couldn't even clean the fried egg off and had to throw it away. I even have a photo of the eggs stuck to the pan but you can't post a photo here.

Also, unless you bought it on line you can't even get hold of Customer Service by email. I just don't have the time to chat on the phone.

Terrible product. NOT even close to the COPPER Chef cookware you see on TV, although they have the same type advertising. A definite Buyer Beware product!

Not as seen on TV

By D. J. Robinson, Richmond, VA, Verified Reviewer

This item does not work as seen on TV. I scrambled some eggs in the 9.5 inch pan, and they stuck. The young lady I spoke to in customer service informed me that I should not have used non stick spray on this non stick pan and my warranty was voided. I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone. Save your money.
