HomeLight is NOT free

I could have chosen a good realtor on my own but went with the realtor referred by HomeLight. By all the reviews and reading the website, I was under the assumption the service was free for me to use. I was already considering Berkshire Hathaway as the broker firm. She was a good match for me and sold my home within a week for a good price (home was apprasied only $32 more than the offered price). When it came to the day of closing the title company including a $2026.72 referral fee to HomeLight Inc., which was deducted from my selling price. Even though I had a good experience in selling my home, I was misled. At no time was I told I'd be paying for HomeLight's referral.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Too many unsolicited calls

Within minutes of getting my two recommended realtors, I started receiving five phone calls from agents that were not on the recommended list. I tried this website because I thought I was able to choose my agent and not just submit my contact information to all agents in this area so they could call me. I would not recommend this site to anyone.

HomeLight recommended a terrible agent

I was VERY unhappy with the real estate agent HomeLight matched me with, his communication throughout the process was terrible. When the buyer’s inspection report came back, he took nearly a week to get it over to me. I attempted calling, texting, emailing and he would not reply. I finally had to get in contact with his manager who sent it over to me. He also took days upon days to reply to my emails, and in many cases, he wouldn’t answer my questions fully. The real icing on the cake was when the closing date came he did not show up! Thanks a lot for the recommendation HomeLight.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Automated spam

I entered my email and phone number to "Receive Information" from HomeLight. Within 30 seconds, my cell phone literally exploded with incoming calls from realtors. I then received an email and a phone call from a Zach Hall (Account Executive), which I could not answer because there were no less than four incoming calls happening on my call waiting. When I called Zach back to request that he delete my account, he was RUDE, EVASIVE and then hung up on me.

Unless you are simply looking to have your number spammed across every realtor in your zip code, AVOID THIS SERVICE!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Slow to respond to inquiries

Of the five recommended realtors, only one responded. He was great, but the other HomeLight realtors never reached out.

Worthless

I was matched with two agents. The first one comes in with a chip on his shoulder, telling us how good he is and did nothing but tell us what was wrong with our property. He told us the property was worth $50,000 less than every appraisal we had. I think he was low balling so he could buy and flip himself. The second agent took two weeks to contact us. I figured that any agent on this site was the lower tier agent who can't get own their clients. Never again.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Waste of time

I'm considering selling my place, and so I thought let's see what they have to offer and who. Well, first, only one of the agents sold properties primarily in my area. They included sales from Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, and other areas of the valley. This is not helpful as my place is in the far north valley, and a different from the other areas listed. However, I figured I'd at least do a little more research on the people listed via their professional websites, as the snippets were vague and essentially sales spam, but OK, I figure no problem. What really got me, was the fact I shared I wasn't thinking about listing it for 3-6 months, which was on their form, and within 2 hours I received a sales call, asking for more details on my property! Are you kidding me? So, this could be good but for me, not so much, especially when the agents listed I didn't think fit the profile of what I wanted. This is certainly not a service I will use.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Satisfaction not guaranteed

On the 10th of November 2018, I filled out the contact form on HomeLight.com. I received a "Congrats! You qualify for our Concierge Service" reply stating I would be contacted shortly. I received an email at 8:07 PM and was told I would get "a quick call to see if there's any other relevant information." The email also stated "Note that these calls with agents may be recorded for quality assurance."

I replied to the email with full details and the following: "I do not answer phone calls for numbers I do not recognize. I would prefer contact via this email address. Information passed and the exchanges will then be "documented" for my records."

I received a reply to that exchange: "Thank you for reaching out to HomeLight's support team. We have received your e-mail and our team will be in touch with you shortly."

As I type this it is 3:57 PM on the 29th of November 2018, I have received no call or email.

Within 24 hours of first filling out the HomeLight.com contact form (which included my email address), my spam folder exploded with junk email averaging 10-15 a day now where I was getting 10-15 a week. Your call.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Real estate broker referral

This service is a waste of time; once you sign up and they send you a list of agents, they will bug you with calls, texts to NO END! When I did decide to start interviewing agents for the sale of my house and contacted HomeLight agent Christoper Patterson with questions ( both email and voicemail), he did not even have the courtesy to respond! Do not waste your time with these people. I selected an agent and did not need their assistance. I would give negative stars if possible.

They do not honor client requests

I went online and filled out the brief introductory questionnaire. I didn't want to give them my phone, as this type of contact creates problems if called at inopportune times (it's my only phone, so it's with me at work and at home). I wrote a note that I did NOT wish to be contacted by phone, email only.

Since that time, I have received numerous phone calls and voice messages - as anticipated, many at times when it was completely inconvenient. I've also received several follow-up emails saying that they've tried to call me, so please call them back. I wrote back and told them that, due to their inability to follow my written request, I wished to be placed on their 'do not contact' list. I did this to each of their contacts (it's not just one and not just one phone number, although I've blocked each one after they've called).

Today, I received a text sent to my phone, again requesting I call them "ASAP" so they could get me the names of agents in my area. They obviously don't honor client's requests, so I can only imagine the type of "service" they provide if they can't follow this!

I will be following up with the Better Business Bureau with the next phone call. What a mistake to contact them!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This company doesn't provide any added value to an ordinary search of the internet

This is a complete waste of time and money. All I received were a couple of replies from realtors who obviously pay for this service. They were certainly not the "top" realtors in the area. I live in a county with 13,000 realtors, how could so few people respond?

Depending on your specific needs we will match you with agents in our database that fit those needs. Rural areas can be more difficult since there are a limit amount of agents in those areas.
