Scared away from something great

By Amanda R., New South Wales, Australia, Verified Reviewer

I started the trial and loved the first day. I went to read reviews of other peoples' progress and saw a lot of negativity about not being able to cancel and people getting ripped off. I panicked and went into the app and asked to cancel. They responded almost immediately and canceled for me, allowing 4 more days' access. I'm on my last day but am seriously thinking about starting over as I love all aspects of the program; the guidance, recipes, tracking steps, etc.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Awful app and service, rip off

By Teresa D., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I hated the app and tried to cancel but ended up having to pay. Then months later, they took another $129 from PayPal. I am disputing with PayPal but looks like I need to dispute with my bank, too! Urgh!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Cheating

By Deepa S., United Arab Emirates, Verified Reviewer

After offering the 15-day trial at $1 US, Noom just deducted $129 US from my PayPal account without any confirmation or authorization. I didn't even make use of their trial subscription. Worst experience!

I immediately deleted the app from my mobile.

Bad business model when there is no one to address simple billing

By Farnaz M., New York, Verified Reviewer

I did not want a 6 months subscription and the phony coach automated responses were not able to handle the inquiry. I requested the stop of subscription and sure enough, 6 months later they billed me again.

Now I have blocked them but it is really awful to deal with these internet companies that can't handle simply a problem.

Before you give them your credit card, be sure what you are getting.

Total scam

By Angela S., San Francisco, CA, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for a one time charge of $99.00 in March and in July my card was charged another $99. I had to work with my bank to file a fraud claim. There is no way to get in contact with Noom. The app was a total joke and MyFitnessPal the free version has much better technology. The calorie counter was wrong for almost every product already in their system. I discontinued using in the first month. I tried to contact Nom via the customer service email and via the app with no response. I never subscribed to an ongoing subscription, but the company charged me for it.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Scam!

By Anneli S., Sweden, Verified Reviewer

This is a big scam. I lost 116 euro (1200 Swedish Krones), and no answers from support, no payback, no explanation for how long time I paid. Ripoff! There are a lot of free apps out there, but I fell for the ads. So stupid.

Nope, just nope

By Libby P., Verified Reviewer

Don't sign up for the free trial if there's any possibility you won't be able to cancel in time because they take the money out of your account and offer no refund. I might have enjoyed this app, but now I'll never know because I was so angry at their "business" practices that I removed it from my phone.

Enjoy my $159, Noom - I'll try to get pleasure from it by telling everyone I know about your app, how much it costs, and how you offer no refunds whatsoever. Oh, and the coaching isn't that good - mainly just a cheerleader who checked in a few times a week (as far as I could tell).

Save your time and money and get Fooducate for free!

Wish I read the reviews before the trial offer

By Jean B., Green Valley, AZ, Verified Reviewer

My coach was a programmed being or not being! She asked me if she could help me with something and I said I have trouble being enthusiastic about exercise. No response. I then wrote an email to find out about how the $199.00 membership works. No response.

I wrote a few emails and messages and never received a response.

The app is antiquated. Many things you cannot do. Price is too high for what it is!

SCAM, in my opinion!

Horrible auto-charge policies

By Stewart G., Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

I did four months of Noom. The first several months were very helpful, and I lost some weight, which I was happy about. However:

1. After the first few months, the daily tips are just recycled versions of the previous daily tips. There's almost no value. The coach checks in with one sentence or so once a week, and the food/exercise trackers are far less sophisticated than even free ones like the Samsung Health app.

2. Their auto-charge policy is very unclear. I understood that I would be auto-charged if I didn't cancel after the trial, and I chose to continue and pay after the trial.

However, I had no idea it would charge me again 4 months later, I thought the program simply ended after 4 months. On the last day of the 4 months, when I saw the new charge pending on my credit card, I immediately reached out to support. They refused to do anything about it and insisted that I pay for and use another 4 months, even though I had not used any of it and it was day one.

I would have recommended Noom to lots of people if it wasn't for these few things, but instead of respecting customers, they have shockingly bad customer service and essentially try to trick people into paying.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A range of coaches...? Really?

By Stuart H., Romania, Verified Reviewer

After looking at this review, I noticed the photo of "Eva," the coach reminded me of someone...namely, my coach, Carly. The same photo, different names, robotic responses, equals a scam. The app claims that you are paying for a personal coach who helps you through. LIES!

Upsell alert

By Brenda N., Bath, ME, Verified Reviewer

They lure you in without telling you the cost. You answer question after question. Psychologically you feel somewhat committed by then - you've wasted all this time. Then when you've given them your credit card info and they've taken a dollar out, they start to tell you the cost of everything - which is BIG. I canceled and wrote off the $1. But I consider luring and upselling to be dishonest. Yes, it's common business practice and considered to be legit, but I don't agree. We have slipped into allowing one small dishonest thing after another. And business will not stop the escalation until we stop buying. Don't buy this.
