Disappointing

I was very excited to start my treatment with SmileDirectClub, I had always been a bit insecure about my smile. I waited 5 months and still had not received my order and called them just to find out the shipment was canceled and no one had even bothered letting me know. I tried getting a refund but their customer service has got to be the most disorganized on the face of the earth. I have been calling them for the past three days trying to get some answers but to no avail. I just lost a large sum of money on absolutely nothing. I feel completely cheated and this is honestly starting to feel like a scam. Be wary.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Lousy customer service

I just finished my aligners after 6 months. Last week I received a text that said my last set would be in my hands. Not true. Over a week with no retainers and no return of my several messages. BUYER BEWARE.

Forged signature on contract

While waiting to receive my 3D custom plan, SmileDirectClub (SDC) sent me a "Retail Installment Credit Sale Contract" with my name and initials forged.

From there, I reviewed at my credit card account and saw that SDC went ahead and charged my credit card $250. I contacted my credit card company, who then contacted them with me on the line.

The SDC rep tried to make it look like that I signed the document when I met with another rep at an SDC location UNTIL I pointed out that the signature was dated a few days before I even met that rep.

Needless to say, I am not going with SDC.

I advise anyone is who with them to review ANY documents that they may send you.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Terrible customer service

After finishing my 6-month plan and expressing how I felt about my teeth because they were nowhere near what I was shown on the 3d image, I was re-evaluated and sent another set. I have now finished the second set and once again they look nothing like what I was shown. I reached out to customer service and spoke with an account manager to see about getting some type of money back that I wasted when I could have gone to Invisalign and got it done the right way. She stated that she would send my pictures to the dental team and they would evaluate the pictures and decide how much of a refund I get. The dental team looks at the pictures and basically tells me there is no money-back guarantee after 30 days of receiving the initial aligners (which is not what the account manager stated on the phone, she said if you weren't happy with your smile at the end of the process there was a money-back guarantee). Which how is someone supposed to know whether it's working for them in 30 days? On top of that, there is no communication here. So many people tell me a different thing, if that was the case, I don't understand why the account manage even said they could refund me and had me speak with the dental team in the first place. A huge waste of time and money. Just go get Invisalign so it can be done correctly the first time and under the supervision of your orthodontist.

Don’t trust this company if you don’t want to spend your money outdoor. Make sure when you sign anything that they ask you to sign. Let them know if not working for your teeth can you get a refund for quality work? If not work for you, can you get the money back?

If you don’t do that you will have big trouble to get back the money that you paid for.

Please, trust me.

I've had this for my teeth for 5 months already. And my teeth too stay the same. I try to call for them to make a cancellation because it is not working for me. But they don’t care.

The worst customer service and care we experienced

No follow up, no reaching out, no one to answer our calls and help us. We called so many times to finally have one lady Regina, who tells us she has no supervisor, because she answers her phone from home. She apparently is the ONLY person responsible for handling accounts for this company, while many reps are answering calls from overseas, yet cannot answer any details for us. Perhaps it is different when you go into a location and visit on a weekly basis, but we were still told each location is separate and the company headquarters is responsible for service. There is no dedicated team serving to help the people. We do not have one close and were thankful to first hear the correspondence would be online or by phone. NOT the case. It seems this is a scam, so I would highly advise anyone from going with this company. The results do not last, and it DOES not replace permanent dental work. It is a marketing firm more than a dental organization. No results and no ownership or responsibility on the company's part. Cheap and unfriendly, unaware of customer needs or service. I do not expect this company to last long.

We also have supervisors that are able to take calls, but aren't always readily available. In addition, we have a dental team available to help with any treatment related concerns. SmileDirectClub straightens teeth for up to 60% less than other treatments, but all customers should continue to see their local dentist for regular cleanings and other concerns. My real dentist has concerns regarding my teeth as the result of the use of SDC clear aligners

Today I visited my regular dentist for clean-up and X-rays, I told them about that I wear clear aligners. Upon cleaning and investigation, my dentist found some issues. I have some light contacts. Teeth are hitting each other pretty heavy in the front which can be a long-term issue and should be definitely addressed with ortho prior to completing the treatment. After my dentist visit, I called SmileDirectClub contact for the referrals of ortho. I was placed on wait for 20 minutes, then the SDC rep was rude at me saying they just are responsible for products. They don't care about the referrals which I think they are non-existent. I spoke to a rep, I wish to terminate the treatment and he said I don't get a refund at all since I used the aligners.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Frustrated

I am very disappointed with SmileDirect Club. I have been using their product for a year and the original space in my teeth is the same and now I have 2 other spaces. I have been waiting 12 weeks for new aligners. My teeth are worse than when I started.

Zero stars

When my aligners were ordered, I was never told there was a time limit on when I needed to begin using them. As I chose not to use them right away and finally began using them, a fitting issue was encountered in my week 3 aligners. I reached out about this and was emailed by Tatiana, with the dental team, saying "there will be an additional cost of $99 per month." Yes, you heard that correctly. There is an additional $99 charge PER MONTH on top of the over $2,000 paid. This is absolutely ridiculous and I will not ever recommend SmileDirect to anyone. In fact, serval people have inquired about SmileDirect and I have steered them away because of this horrible experience.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Typically, aligner fit issues during treatment won't incur an additional charge unless treatment was started after the expected treatment end date. Only care about sales

My boyfriend and I visited a pop-up Smile Shop in Lakewood, CA on 09/08/2019. We received text confirmations for our appointments that stated we would be receiving $25 Amazon gift cards just for completing the scan. We are also told that I would be receiving $150 Amazon gift card for sending my referral link to my boyfriend. This would later change to $100 for some reason.

After our scans, I brought up my concerns that I needed to get a crown and a teeth cleaning prior to committing to purchasing/starting the aligners because I read on their website that patients should take care of these things prior to starting the treatment. The ladies assisting me said that I didn't need to take care of these things and that it would actually be better for me to take care of them later. I'm not sure why they would contradict what their website says aside from just trying to push the sale.

My boyfriend and I decide we are going to purchase the aligners and after discussing payment options they recommend my boyfriend apply for a Care Credit card to pay for the aligners and insist that it would be a soft inquiry. It was not a soft inquiry, he was denied and his credit score dropped. I give my card information to put down the deposit of $250 each which they said would take 72 hours. While we are leaving I ask about the Amazon gift cards and they both said they would be emailed to us within 72 hours. We would never receive them and after speaking with 3-4 different people are told we won't be receiving them because it wasn't applied at the Smile Shop. Something that should have been taken care of the reps assisting us, especially when I make it a point to ask for them while I'm leaving. I would go back and forth with multiple reps about this but am basically told that I am not going to be receiving it.

The next day we receive our "Smile Plan" and decide we are going to order. I mistakenly order on the wrong card and immediately call to cancel the order so that I can place it again with the correct card. I place the order again the same day with a different card. My boyfriend waits until the following Saturday, 09/14, to pay his in full. Since I paid mine early I was not charged the deposit but my boyfriend was. When we call to place his order the amount has increased by $50 than originally quoted and the $250 deposit is not taken off the total amount so at this point we've paid an extra $300 on top of the quoted price. We would eventually receive the $50 back and I am still waiting to this day to see the $250 refund for the deposit.

This same day I notice that my dashboard is not showing the order anymore and I ask about it and they said that everything is fine and that it would update soon. In actuality, the order had been canceled because of the initial request I made to cancel the order when using the incorrect card. I understand the confusion so I'm not upset about it. I wait for the money to be returned to both the original card I accidentally used and the 2nd correct card I used to make the purchases before submitting a 3rd order. The same day I submitted the 3rd order I am reviewing the smile plan and notice that the treatment plan will actually cause a huge gap in my bite. I call and speak to a member of their dental team who confirms that the treatment plan will create this gap in my bite. I do not understand how they would even provide this type of treatment that would create permanent issues. I connect with customer service to cancel the order for the last and final time. When I attempt to cancel the order, I am offered an additional $100 off. As if $100 off would be an incentive to ruin my bite for straighter teeth. My boyfriend also decides to cancel his order because of all of the inconsistencies in information given to us throughout this 2-week process.

It seems they only care about you purchasing the aligners and do not care to honor incentives they offer to you for coming in, ordering, etc. I am glad I was able to confirm the treatment plan would create bite issues for me so that I did not begin the treatment. I would stay far away and visit a traditional orthodontist for treatment.

Horrible! Do not get these!

I received my kit and like all new patients, I was really excited. Read the directions, shaved down the braces, and placed them in. Within 2 days I had ulcers in my mouth, and could barely eat and talk due to the extreme pain. Returned the package back. Was told the accounts management department would call me in 3-5 business days. Never got a call. Returned the braces and they were received, was told it would take 7 days to review the return. The problem is that no one called, no one bothered to email. There was no patient concern from the company. AND, no promise to not charge my card. This company is a joke.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
