Nothing "elite" about it

By Megan, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I relocated to Toronto from LA and thought I would give it a try being that I thought I'd be meeting elite men. There is NOTHING elite about them. The matches are not in alignment with who I would ever meet or be interested in real life. They suggest you don't be ridged about your height or age preferences, but then you are matched with a bunch of random, under average looking and blue collar workers.

I wrote customer service an email, requesting a pro-rated email (as they suggest its best to join paying six months in advance) and they replied by saying I had three days to cancel and that they checked each an every one of my matches and they never sent any men over 45. The same day I sent them screenshots of 10 men they suggested over that 45 and told them this is not in alignment with what I'm looking for. No apology and no refund, better to go to the gym, at least you will find men who have better bodies and work out.

I also don't think the men are being true to their age. If so, their diet and skin are terrible and as I stated, nothing elite about them.

A very unpleasant experience.

Stay away from this website!

By Yallita, Texas, Verified Reviewer

False advertising. They hardly have any members and the ones they do never reply even if they are not what I am looking for. I tried to get a refund, but it is very difficult to get in touch with anybody. They do not have an 800 customer telephone number, and the only way you can get in touch with them is via email. This company is based off in Germany, so good luck if you try to get anything from them. Do not sign in and waste your money and time.

Horrible service and sneaky tactics

By Jen F, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

From the functionality of the site, in my opinion, it does not provide anything more or better than other less costly sites. I have not experienced a larger volume of connections on this site compared to others, nor is there any reassurances that the members are of any different than on other sites.

I do recall there is an auto-renewal added when you sign up and thought I had opted to turn that off as I usually do. And if I did not do it, I will own it. That said, what I find very upsetting is the note I received today stating I am going to be forwarded to a 'collection agency' as I have not paid my bill. I checked my emails, and I did receive one note 15 days after an auto-renewal date and then this very upsetting note. Being someone who pays all my bills, this I find so very disturbing and upsetting. Are there really no better ways to reach out to me as a customer? And wouldn't it be lovely to be advised before the date to avoid such a situation or is that just not in their business interest?

Being someone who pays my bills, and as I mentioned, I own what I own if I did not turn off the auto-renewal, so I have issued the payment. That said, I am furious at the nature of how this was handled and want to cancel my association immediately. And knowing the right way to manage this is to reach out to them directly to express my concerns and alas I have discovered the only ways I can find to connect with them is through the mail to Berlin (I live in Canada) or sending a fax to Berlin. Their online form option is not an online form but a knowledge-based of commonly asked questions that are not helpful in my scenario. Brutal and makes me feel they have something to hide in the way this is set up.

Since there is no easy way for me to connect with them on feedback, I am sharing here that the customer service is lacking in their business model and I feel they are not trustworthy based on my experience. And now I need to try to figure out how to end my membership; having paid 6 more months now, I would like to turn auto-renewal off and use the services I paid for, though their online option looks like if you cancel they delete your profile immediately. And if I wait too long I am concerned they have other "tricks" that will delay my cancellation and charge me another 6 months. Alas, the trust factor I just mentioned I now have with their service.

My advice is if you want to try the site, feel free. My experience has been I did not get better options than other more affordable sites. There is no screening, and anyone who wants to pay the money can join. If you do sign-up, ensure you know how to get out and leave time to connect via fax if you need to, to ensure you cancel in time to avoid being charged again. Be warned that this company does not make connecting with them on any modern channel available to you.

Many flaws on this highly recommended sight

By James Kraybill, Jersey Shore, NJ, Verified Reviewer

Ok, where to begin. For starters, I'm 41 and I am single again. I have experienced other online dating sites, and all have their pros and cons, but this one has the most cons.

1. You can't search for what you are actually looking for in a match. They give you these false criteria, which only means the matches they dictate to you on a daily bases. eHarmony does this too; the others at least allow you to search.

2. The search criteria either doesn't work or is a complete lie. The minimum distance can only be less than 50 miles, really? I like how that reviewer above with his 4 stars probably works for Elite Singles says the tough about trying to find your soul mate closer. I live in New Jersey and I don't want 80-90% of my matches from New York and even Philly!

3. I see 50+% of my matches with no photos, so why can the criteria allowed you to only get matches with photos! All the other sites do. I'm starting to suspect they are pulling an Ashley Madison with fake profiles to stock their pond.

4. I like the idea of taking a personality test to get my match and don't mind it taking a long time but why the heck are most of my matches 40-67% compatibility? Am I really that rare of a species? I doubt that. They shouldn't be a match at all!

In reality, I just think this site lacks customers. It's not as well known or as popular as Match or POF, since those sites have more success finding someone local or to your preference. I find Match has the best criteria of all the sites. I like a site that can show you what they prefer, so we don't wast each others time, and this site fails to do this.

Unauthorized payment taken which amounts to theft

By Consultant PM, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I just read in another review that this company has taken money from someone without authorization. They have done the same to me last night, even though I told them I did not give them the authorization to do this as they have not provided the service I have paid them for, and are in breach of contract as far as I am concerned. I am looking into my legal rights.

Their app is awful. It crashes or does not load often. I have paid for six months and had issues with the app on iPhone 5, 6, 7 and iPad 3rd generation and 2017. The issues are clearly with their app. I asked them to cancel my renewal but because I gave them five days notice, not seven, and they insisted on renewing for another six months, even when I explained the reason for canceling was because of the instability of their product.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Stay well clear as it’s a total waste of money.

Run!

By Sylvia, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

Please do not subscribe to this site! After I joined, Elite changed the format of the site, which meant that I could no longer access matches via my iPad. There is no reminder when the subscription ends. I had actually cancelled the card I had paid my initial subscription with, but they still managed to take £197 ($272.86) from my account! I contacted my bank who made a chargeback so had my money refunded. However, this did not go down well with Elite who are now chasing me for the money.

I got a fairly generic response stating I had should have read the Terms and Conditions thoroughly. I have taken consumer advice, and under the Consumer credit act 2015, if Terms and Conditions are considered to be unreasonable (which I would argue no reminder when a massive increase in fees is taken from your account meets these criteria), they may not be enforceable.

Also they are almost impossible to contact. Fax or writing to Germany? Generic email responses? Who are they trying to kid? Under the sale of goods act 1979, if the service is not fit for purpose, you guys may have some redress on that point. AVOID them at all costs. Good luck to all of you trying to get a refund. By the way, only a court order can enforce payment, not threatening emails requesting payments. One star is too much, but there was no zero star option.

Waste of time

By Sarah Weber, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I was hopeful for Elite Singles. I have taken lots of personality tests and thought since Elite Singles makes you take one, that it would be good. Turns out that if you report being sensitive to other people’s emotions or intuitive, it categorizes you as “unstable” and “easily influenced by others.” Excuse me? I have established healthy boundaries and am by no means “unstable.” This cost me countless dates, I’m sure. I matched with very few, when I’ve matched with plenty on other sites. Worst $150 I ever spent. I canceled after six weeks when I paid for six months. There’s also no way to alter your personality display once it is up. Total disappointment.

The worst dating site

By Melinda Batai, New York, Verified Reviewer

I have been on the site for a few weeks, and 99% of the daily matches I receive are without photos, and the profiles are almost empty. Nobody responds to any messages or smiles. Basically you pay a lot of money up front (which they don't make it clear either as you sign up) and you get absolutely nothing for your money. This is the worst dating site I have even been on by far! Stay away from it!

100% scam - do not waste your time!

By Jacob B, Oakland, CA, Verified Reviewer

I'm a "busy professional" looking for something serious, and I was attracted to this site because it claimed to be geared toward professionals and people looking seriously, etc. Turns out it was a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, and a horrible introduction to online dating. Here were the problems I had:

1) They let you spend over an hour creating a profile and filling out the personality quiz, only to discover that with a basic account you can in no way communicate with any other user, or even see pictures of other users even if they send you a message.

2) So, as frustrated as I was with that I ended up trying the paid account since they were basically teasing me with messages I couldn't read. So I paid $90 for a 3-month premium account, which I only realized at the end would charge me all at once rather than the $30 a month they advertised.

3) As soon as I started the premium account, I stopped receiving matches. I literally did not receive a single match for 5 days. When I put in a help request, they said my search filters were too strict, which was actually totally untrue. It was a boilerplate response, and they didn't even look at my account (saying most of my criteria were set as "very important," when in fact only one was set as important, which was the distance).

4) After I replied that their advice made no sense, I magically started getting matches again, even though I didn't change a thing. Though, only a couple a day.

5) The matches I did get were totally bogus. Most of them had no picture and very little profile information. Half of them were from other cities and states, even though I had my filter set to within 50 miles (the lowest they go). I mean, hello? The two that seemed real and had pictures and that I actually sent a message to like an idiot turned out to be "inactive" on closer look. Again, a total tease.

6) Meanwhile, I was getting several messages a day from people in other states, people that didn't meet my criteria, people whose profile pictures were obviously from 10 years ago, etc...

7) Every time I sent a help request (which is actually impossible to find on their website and only can be found via the app if you hunt for it) the answer was total not applicable to my issue or helpful in any way.

I don't know what these people are up to, but this is not a dating site. It is a complete SCAM. I did manage to call them and demand a full refund, which I was promised will be processed within 10 business days. We'll see if it comes through...

Do NOT use this site! DO NOT USE THIS SITE. Do NOT let anyone you know use this site!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Different planets

By James Rolf, Omaha, NE, Verified Reviewer

I don't know what most of these people are talking about. I do not view this site as a scam. If someone meets people who lie, that is not the fault of the website.

The mobile app sucks really bad, so you really should only use the web app in a browser. It's true that you are not going to get a lot of matches in your city, unless you are in a big city. I'm ok with that. In my view, it is unlikely that the love of my life will be in the exact same city as me. Different strokes for different folks. If you only want local matches, then use another app.

I have met people from this site who I have been very impressed by. There are very few fake accounts. Most are real people trying to find a real relationship with someone who has ambition and a career. I'm not the most handsome man in the world, but a well-written profile will go FAR on this site. Check into the app once or twice a day and you will get a steady, but not overwhelming, stream of matches.

Every site has a different mechanic. The mechanic of this site suits me just fine. Good luck in finding your love - whichever site you use.

Don't use this site!

By Z, Kansas City, KS, Verified Reviewer

If you're expecting a positive dating experience, then Elite Singles IS NOT FOR YOU! I paid for the premium service and expected good results. I'm a good-looking man, in my mid 30's, have a great business and present very well. I also completed the full profile with details and had friends look it over to make sure it was a solid profile.

On the positive: I did gain three face to face dates from the site, and all wanted to date. I wasn't attracted to one lady, one has turned out to be a good friend (she has too much baggage to date), and the other lied on her profile and was still MARRIED!

Elite Singles boasts about how many thousands of matches they have, and supposedly they do, BUT

1) the matches don't have pictures (most of them).

2) MANY of the matches appear to be quickly generated with the same type of verbiage. My thought is that the site pays for people to make fake profiles that appear to be real, so much of the "likes," "activities,: and "interests" are the same.

3) Hardly anyone writes back, even the ugly ladies with pictures! I tested this for a week! I wasn't trying to play games with anyone, but wanted to see how many people, regardless of attraction, actually wrote back. HARDLY ANY!

4) Despite what you may enter as a distance to find a partner, it doesn't matter, the site will send you people from all over the country

This is just a waste of time and money! Thanks for reading. Just go out and meet new people at church, group activities, sports, etc. This site is a massive waste of time and energy.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
