Caution. Don't be fooled.

By Molly Roth, San Clemente, CA, Verified Reviewer

Ordered 3 qt. pot and lid. When I washed it, a copper chip fell out of the pot. I tried for days to contact Gotham. After a week of calling and emailing, I finally reached a company rep to find out that I had to send the pot back with a check for $9.95, a processing fee. The pot cost $39.95 plus shipping. After the cost of a box and mailing, it'll be a wash money-wise. No more Gotham for me.

Gotham Steel Pan

By Valerie, Massachusetts, Verified Reviewer

I am sorry to say that I had the most horrific experience with the Gotham Steel Pan. Although, I found items to burn and stick and required scraping when using no fat, that is not my issue.

After about 15 uses, a rivet exploded off the pan. It was the equivalent of a bomb. I am not exaggerating in the least. I had no idea what had happened, but knew that something whooshed by me. The noise was so loud that I had to check to see if my stove exploded as I was unsure of what happened. My ears were not right for the whole day. I seriously wondered if my eardrum was punctured. I had ringing in the ear until the next day. Finally, I connected the dots and found the rivet from the handle had blown across the room. It is the closest thing I can imagine to a gun shot.

I am not sure how the company will handle this and I am mostly wanting to warn other consumers. Had this hit me in the eye, or even worse, if my grandchildren were there, I shudder to think what could have occurred.

I called the Consumer Protection Agency and asked how they handle an occurrence of this nature. They will have me filled out forms and collect the data and if enough complaints happen, then action would be taken. If one person loses an eye, that is one too many.

I have been cooking for 40 years and still have some of the same pans. NEVER have I had to worry about a rivet blowing off of the pan.

I can only say, be very careful if you choose to use this item. I will contact the company, who has a lot of litigation rules in their flyer saying, “You waive the right to…”, but honestly my true concern is safety.

Bad birthday gift?

By Deborah Lewis, Muncie, IN, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the large Gotham Steel skillet at Walmart for my husband's birthday last week. I figured $29.99 wasn't a bad price if it lived up to the claims on TV.

Normally I read reviews before I purchase things but life has been crazy and I didn't get around to it. Looks like I made a big mistake.

He followed all instructions, seasoned the skillet, heated it I the oven for the required time. Tonight he fixed eggs and sausage. The sausage didn't stick but the eggs did. He tried swirling them around like the commercial, no deal. He was able to cook them over easy and get them out in one piece without over cooking and the pan cleaned up easy enough with a paper towel before he washed it. Still, it didn't perform to the level I expected.

He is still pleased with his gift and wants to see if it will do better with more seasoning. We shall see. We had planned on purchasing the whole set, the square pan and Dutch oven would be great if they live up to their claims.

Not worth as advertised. Garbage!

By Sameer Nagpal, Vancouver, BC, Verified Reviewer

Do not go by the ad on TV. This product is not worth it. In fact, order nothing from any of these TV ads.

First of all, if you call the number to order, you are talking to a machine and the machine will not understand anything what you order. So, you will end up getting a different order count from what you order.

Secondly, if you want to dispute and call the customer care number, they cannot help with anything, so either you accept the delivery or refuse.

Thirdly, if you choose to accept, the product does not perform as per advertised. Everything sticks to this pan. It's a garbage.

Fourth, if you choose to refuse the delivery, because the order is different than what you ordered (no fault of yours), they will still deduct the shipping.

Overall this product is a waste of your hard earned money. If you still want to try, you can buy at the local store and still return it for no deduction. Choose wisely.

What a Crock

By Clayton Kuehn, Las Cruces, NM, Verified Reviewer

Got this small frying pan a week ago, special order from Walmart. I used it to make sausage/egg English muffins for breakfast. The first couple of times were no problem. After that, the sausage and eggs would both burn and stick to the pan, even with only medium heat. Definitely not worth the $19.99 price tag. Their ad is the epitome of false and/or highly misleading advertising.

Not for me.

By Claudio Grubner, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The claims are false. After 2 uses, everything sticks to it. Impossible to clean. Don't walk away from their offer, run!

Pleased But…

By Vito, Palm Harbor, FL, Verified Reviewer

I am very pleased with the overall performance of the pan. However, the pan doesn't sit flat on the stove to which effects the heat the pan evenly. Also, the handle is very uncomfortable to hold. The nonstick performance is excellent. And clean up is pleasure. I do sauté a lot and I notice the finish is coming off the bottom of the pan. If any of those factors mean nothing to you then I would recommend this pan.

Lost its non-stick quality after 90 days.

By Peter, Delray Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

Initially I thought the Gotham Steel Pan was the greatest fry pan I ever used, but it slowly lost its non-stick quality to the point where everything stuck to it even after greasing the pan before frying. It looked and sounded too good to be true. Whatever the pan is initially coated with wears off quickly and it turns into the cleaning nightmare you are used to. The company was willing to "repair" my pan if I mailed it to them with a check for $9.95. Their lifetime guarantee is definitely misleading! Stay away from this company and if you want to try the pan, buy the identical product from Bed Bath and Beyond for $16 where they honor the warranty without question.

Does NOT Live Up To The Hype

By Jacqueline Adler, Nevada, Verified Reviewer

I wish I would have read buyers' reviews, prior to making my purchase. I believed the hype, I believed the commercials, and I jumped too quickly to purchase this 9.5" Gotham Steel Pan. I bought it for the purpose of replacing my standard non-stick frying pan that had become scratched over the years. I use this size frying pan mainly for cooking eggs. I always use a small amount of butter or some type of grease, even in any non-stick pan, and it was no different for this pan.

Well, to put it quite simply, my eggs stuck to the pan. They did not slide around, as you see in the commercial. In fact, it took so much spatula action to loosen the eggs, that the yolks broke. I've used the pan about 5 times now, with the same result each time. Anything I put in the pan sticks. I'm very disappointed in this pan, and if I can save someone else the disappointment and money spent on this garbage, I will be somewhat placated.

Not as advertised

By Jane Martell, Arlington, VA, Verified Reviewer

I've had this pan for only a month. It is NOT WORTH $19.99 plus tax. In fact, I wouldn't have wasted my very limited income on this crap. It is NOT NON-STICK for eggs. It scratches easily, even with just a spatula! I'm ashamed, that at the age of 57, I actually believed the advertising for this. Never again. Don't waste your money.

Worst Experience ever.

By Kim Kowalczyk, Jackson, New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I purchased this at the supermarket at one of their promotional stands. I figured I would save on the shipping & handling.

Got it home and the cheese from a grilled cheese sandwich stuck on the first try. I cleaned it and everything stuck on each try until I couldn't even clean the fried egg off and had to throw it away. I even have a photo of the eggs stuck to the pan but you can't post a photo here.

Also, unless you bought it on line you can't even get hold of Customer Service by email. I just don't have the time to chat on the phone.

Terrible product. NOT even close to the COPPER Chef cookware you see on TV, although they have the same type advertising. A definite Buyer Beware product!
