Knee-high socks too tight

By Laura H., Indianapolis, IN, Verified Reviewer

The women's knee-high socks are fine, and don't slip down. In fact, they are so tight in the calf and upper leg they almost cut off the circulation! I am 5'7' and weigh 130lbs...so I don't think my calves are excessively large. They are so uncomfortable, I can't wear them.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Kinda disappointed

By Deanka G., Jonesboro, GA, Verified Reviewer

I loved the idea of this being a charitable thing as well as a good thing for me. I've been hearing forever how these are the best socks you'll ever own, but I guess if you hear commercials enough, you start to believe. I don't know anyone who actually owns a pair. So I finally took the plunge and, I must say, I've worn socks that feel better. These just feel like regular socks to me. They aren't even that soft. And considering I paid over $100 for them? I expected better. I'm supremely disappointed.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Holes in the heel

By Don M., Las Cruces, NM, Verified Reviewer

I was originally very impressed with the comfort of the socks and have bought over 15 pairs. Then I started having lots of holes in the bottom of my heels. No other socks I wear have had this problem. The customer support from Bombas is really good and will give you replacements with minimal questions. I just do not like to make complaints and ask for replacement socks. They really need to fix how thin their heels are.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Holy holes

By David T., Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

I love these socks but I've given up on them because of heel holes that appear after about a dozen wearings. At over $10 a pair for little sneaker socks that wear out fast, it is just not worth it.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comfortable but wear out very quickly

By Ron W., Palo Alto, CA, Verified Reviewer

Have purchased several pair of Men's Ribbed Over the Calf Dress Socks. They are very comfortable but quickly develop holes in either the toe or heel. Bombas replaces the defective socks quickly, but it is becoming a nuisance to have to do request replacements. I have many pairs of Gold Toe Men's Over the Calf Socks that last for many years without wearing out. They are much less expensive and equally comfortable. Bombas has excellent customer service, but its products that I have purchased are not worth the money.

Length of Use: 6–12 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Comfortable socks

Excellent customer service

Poor quality, socks wear out much too quickly

Expensive considering the poor quality

Holes in heels and inconsistent fit

By S C., California, Verified Reviewer

Their Merino Wool calf socks had the highest wool content I could find so I purchased a 4-pack of Women's Originals calf socks in February 2020. The calf part kept sliding down so I requested replacements a month later.

I requested replacements only this time with 2 of the pairs being the solid colors as I thought it was a factory defect with Originals. The solids fit looser (even being the same size) and the calf portion slid down more. In 6-10 wears, every pair either got a heel hole or the wool in the heel/ankle fell out in tufts leaving only the nylon thread mesh.

I'm waiting for their stock to replenish as they're out of stock on most wool colors in my size so that they can send me yet another replacement set. I've resorted to sewing the holes closed for now.

As long as Bombas will replace them, I guess I'll have to keep asking for new pairs until I get my money's worth as it seems their quality control at the factories need work.

Length of Use: 6–12 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

High wool content

Price for multi-packs

Donating socks

Very short lifespan

Quality/fit inconsistent

Love them but...

By Allen B., Puyallup, WA, Verified Reviewer

My son bought me eight pairs of socks for Christmas. It is now less than five months later and they are no more. I loved the sox, the comfort, and the fit, but after a few wears, every one of them had a hole in the heel and I had to toss them. If the heels were reinforced, it might be something to buy again. But now, not likely.

Length of Use: 3–6 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Over-priced

By Greg H., Boston, MA, Verified Reviewer

I did not really have a bad experience with Bombas, but the pricing is not good. I purchased some socks. They are stylish, but pricey. The fit and material do not warrant the price. I suspect the donation is what drives the inflated price. I think the t-shirt pricing is even more pronounced. A Pima cotton t-shirt at Bombas is $40. A very similar (at least equal, potentially superior) Pima cotton t-shirt at a competitor is $32. That is a 25 percent price differential.

Comfortable but not long lasting

By Joe C., San Francisco, CA, Verified Reviewer

When I first received my pairs of Bombas socks I really enjoyed how comfortable the socks are on my feet. Unfortunately, only after a few months of normal wear, the bottom heels began to get holes or just lose their material (eventually leading to holes). I've had lots of socks over the years and none have worn out so quickly - these weren't even stressed in any way except normal walking and machine washing.

The first pair I returned and got a replacement but now the other 4 pairs I got are all starting to get holes within a year. As much as I appreciate the comfort, I likely won't spend the money on these in the future. Again, these socks are mixed in with a bunch of my other socks so they weren't getting worn on a daily basis - at most maybe once a week for one day.

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Amazing fit but fall apart

By Cca A., Columbus, OH, Verified Reviewer

I love how Bombas no-show socks fit and feel but at $12 a pair these fall apart. I purchased them since they have a “lifetime” guarantee BUT it was a HUGE hassle to get the replacements and they shorted me on those. I feel like the quality has gone down even further because the replacements didn’t last 6 months and after the hassle on the first round, I’m looking for a new brand.

Great socks at first, but aren’t durable

By Tracy D., Cleveland, OH, Verified Reviewer

I’ve bought numerous pairs of Bombas socks including calf, ankle, and hiking. Some were wool, but most are cotton.

My calf socks are doing okay because I don’t wear them very often, but all of my wool socks wore through within 9 months to a year. The same thing happened to my husband’s wool socks. I had my wool ones replaced with cotton ones, which required all of my replacement credit plus another $20 to $30 because the price had gone up. The replacement socks wore through again and I got another set of replacements for more money. The final ones that I’m using now have only lasted about 1 year but only because I’m careful to rotate which ones I wear. They are beginning to wear through but I’ve decided not to replace them anymore. I’m just using them as rags at this point.

The socks are definitely supportive and hold their shape, but not worth the money in terms of durability versus price. I’ve never had any problems with holes in any other socks that I’ve purchased, especially after a year or less.

I almost wonder if the warranty and low durability are to encourage you to come back and spend more money. I definitely had to pay more for all of my "warranty" replacements.
