Best experience

By Christa L, Canton, NC, Verified Reviewer

After searching for what seemed like an eternity, being turned down by dealers due to the negative equity I had in my car and price point I wanted to be within, l researched Carvana. I seriously looked at every review I could find. I put my info in on their site, my trade info, and they gave me the price for each car I looked at including the down payment, monthly payment, and finance rate.

I decided on a Ford SUV. I arranged the drop off time, sent in a few documents and verified income, and signed my contract. A week later, two gentlemen brought my new car to my driveway, inspected my trade and had me sign a few forms. It was so EASY. No BS from a dealer, no waiting all day for financing...just simple. And I absolutely love my new car. I would highly recommend!

So far it has been the best!

By Stephen S, Orlando, FL, Verified Reviewer

I have been following and looking at Carvana's site for about two years. I finally pulled the trigger and I couldn't be happier.

I have bought cars sight unseen on eBay before, in person via Craigslist, used car dealerships, new car dealerships, etc. I can't really find a single thing that a non-Jeep dealer would have caught, and that's if it was even caught at a Jeep dealership. The soft top was put up improperly, I fixed it within 10 minutes (this is my 4th Wrangler since 2010). There was definitely some mud and water inside the jeep at some point, and things like the emergency jack and lug wrench were rusted horribly and completely unusable, but they were a useless dead weight on the Wranglers in the first place.

Ok, so the 2015 JKUR (JK Unlimited Rubicon) was $36k and change out the door with 22k miles on it. Its original sticker was $42,500. It had a newer aftermarket Bestop soft top, which is a nice upgrade, heated seats with cloth interior, which is actually quite rare (didn't want leather), 4.10 gears, which were an option in 2015, Nav, Sat, HDD 730n factory head unit, Alpine upgrade sound system, and remote start among other things. This was an oddly perfectly equipped model that would have cost $50k to buy a new 2017 and $52,500 for a new 2018. All things considered, it was in expected condition. If it hadn't been dirty or wet at some point in 3 years, I would actually be curious why, LOL.

Similarly, buying a basic BMW 325i or similar daily commute vehicle like a Honda Civic for the younger crowd, you expect the usual chips and nearly invisible (from 5 feet) dings and "scratches" in the clear coat, basic surface rust on exposed unpainted metal bits, etc. If I was insisting on perfection, I would have spent the money on new, LOL.

The bad that I knew about before delivery and had no issue at all with.

- Mismatched tire brands with similar tread pattern and same size 2 matching pairs front and back.

- Soft top oddly crooked, it was a twisted and looped strap on the top frame and incorrectly zipped/velcro'd window.

- Fuel door broken/beat up (dumb dealer installed/aftermarket option).

- Rusty bolts, skid plates, and such from living in the snow/salt belt part of its life.

What I found after delivery:

- Door removal bolts were in their holder in the rear, meaning they weren't securing the doors on the Jeep, LOL. Ehh 10 minutes, some anti seize, and a t50 torx driver and they are back where they go.

- Plastic stick on rocker "guards" looked way better in the pictures, so I removed them carefully to inspect the rockers for damage, none found aside from some paint scuffs from a prior owner's boots. To be expected honestly. The guards have stayed off as they only accelerate rust on the rockers.

- One rock rash scratch on the passenger side rear shock absorber tube with some rather heavy rust on it, no worries it’s all getting replaced anyway when the Jeep gets a 4" lift down the road.

- As stated above, there was some mud and water inside the Jeep at some point, and things like the emergency jack and lug wrench were rusty and unusable, but the compartment and so on throughout the Jeep's interior and exterior have nothing more than a light coating of surface rust/oxidation on bare metal and no actual "rust" per any sane person's definition. Literally, nothing out of the ordinary, and no rash from offroading hold some fender scuffs and light "forest pinstriping" of a few areas. It has likely seen about 100 miles of light/moderate offroading and mud compared to its stock capabilities, which are much higher than it was seemingly subjected to. Just for reference, two days in Ocala National Forest will get you 100 miles of offroading to this extent.

- Two wheels damaged during what I am assuming was a removal of wheel locks that the prior owner likely didn't include the key for. This is my only legitimate actual complaint/disappointment all in all. While I will be replacing the factory wheels, it detracts from the resale price by about $300 with them being damaged.

- I do think their detailing leaves a lot to be desired but is better than most; there is carpet torn around the seat brackets, likely from removal on the trail to get to the drain plugs, dirt still under the carpet here and there, mud/water stains on the sides of the seats from wheeling with the doors off, etc. It can all be rectified with a little time and minor money for dish soap and some water, maybe a new interior brush since mine is old and falling apart, LOL.

The engine is well cared for; already had a bore scope down each cylinder, oil checked and filter inspected, no valve tap, which is a common issue with the 2012-15 model year 3.6l. The alternator is clean, airbox clean, transmission fluid clean, and not burnt, coolant clean and properly filled (overflow tank bracket cracked but fine after being epoxied).

All and all, it's likely in the top five used vehicles I have purchased from Fords, VWs, Subarus, Minis, Jeeps and the other 40 vehicles I have owned in the past 15 years, both new and used, cheapest being $8k most expensive $70k. The entire experience has been better than the last two brand new cars I purchased and still own (2018 Civic Si and 2017 Dodge Durango). Here in Florida, the dealers are absolute garbage and most, if not all but two in the Orlando area want sticker plus $700-$1k in base dealer fees not including tax, title, license, paperwork, and preparation fees all totaling over $1000 minimum at the least expensive dealerships. I drove three hours out and three hours back to get the Honda Civic Si and still paid $700 in dealer fees, full msrp, and they tried (and failed, while including them anyway) to force me to buy the dealer installed options totaling $799 that I didn't ask for when the deal was made over the phone prior. That was the least expensive dealership option by $580.

If somehow you find fault with Carvana just remember you only get what you give. If you are looking for perfection, buy new. If you want convenience, fair upfront pricing and honest delivery/salesmen/saleswomen with ZERO stress, this is the place to go. If you want a perfect specimen for cheap, you will waste more time than it is worth trying to find it, these are USED cars, just buy a new car and pay the premium for perfect like myself and many others do all the time.

Also, I have only had this Jeep in my possession for eight hours, and I will have it looking showroom worthy in another six hours including painting the entire underside (it helps to have a vehicle lift at home).

I can't stress enough that I will certainly be back to Carvana within 12 months for another fun toy delivered to my door!

Best car buying experience I ever had

By Todd, Beaver Falls, PA, Verified Reviewer

I was hesitant at first about buying a vehicle online. I called customer service a few times with questions. Every question I had was answered to my satisfaction. I decided to buy the car I chose. It was in my price range and a lot less than if I went to a standard dealership. Financing through Go Financial was hassle-free. The vehicle was delivered right on time the day I picked out. The delivery driver was extremely nice, and the paperwork went very smooth. I think the best part of my experience through this is not having to hassle with a traditional dealership. Plus, I got the vehicle I wanted with a price I'm happy with.

Carvana is AWESOME

By Laura Belen, Columbia, SC, Verified Reviewer

From start to finish, buying my car has been easy-peasy and very pleasant. After I picked out my car on the site, I got a quote for trading in my own car, and it was a VERY fair price.

The actual buying process was done almost completely online, with one phone conversation with customer service and my bank to verify the funds and answer my questions. Carvana customer service (I had 3 different phone calls with them, because I had a lot of questions, not having bought a car in 14 years) is wonderful. They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and kind. I am very impressed with Carvana's staff. I was thrilled to find out they take care of registration and the license plate process for me (I don't have to go to the DMV)!

My car was delivered two hours earlier than anticipated (the driver called me first to ask if I'd like to have it earlier, and of course I did), and then I got to inspect it, and take it for a test drive. The Carvana delivery person was so friendly and nice, and answered all my questions. She went through the paperwork with me, and in less than an hour, I had a car! I have seven days to decide if I want to keep my car, get it inspected, etc.

I would recommend Carvana to anyone. I never felt pressured at any point, and I never got annoying sales pitches or phone calls. I have zero complaints about this whole process.

Amazing!

By Lucy Currin, North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

My 19-year-old wanted a new car, and after a hassle at a local dealership, she found Carvana. As a mom, I was nervous about an internet purchase and had her add me as an authorized person on the purchase. All I can say is, wow! Joshua was amazing with explaining everything and answering crazy mom questions! We had a small hiccup with delivery time and Jeffrey solved all issues and made our time framework (we were flexible with a 36-hour window as she was home and we needed to check out the vehicle before she signed). Jeffrey said he would call back and did!

Atlanta (spelling) was our delivery driver and knew mom was involved! She is amazing, to say the least! She called to confirm and was in touch and made us feel comfortable. We had delivery on Mother's Day and she brought me balloons and a gift. This lady is a rockstar! We received the perfect car in perfect condition with a full tank of gas! To say my daughter was happy is an understatement! We will do all future business with this awesome company. Well done!

Still finalizing sale

By Stacey S., Big Bear City, CA, Verified Reviewer

Hands down amazing customer service! I have called with a million question and always have been able to get someone on the phone who was very helpful in finding the answer even if they didn’t know. I recently sold and purchased a vehicle from them. I’m still in the 7-day period.

Delivery: The driver was on time and professional. The car was pretty much as described; it was clean but look like it was cleaned and then sat for a while, so I just had to wipe everything down and spray it off. There wasn’t any washer fluid or coolant, but the driver offered $50.00 refund, which I thought was more than fair. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and said everything looked great, brakes were at 80 percent, and fluids looked good with no unusual wear. The tires are in decent shape, but we will buy new ones soon anyway since we live in a mountain community and want all season tires for the AWD we purchased towards winter. The windshield appears to have some light scratching on it that I didn’t notice until I cleaned it since it was dusty. I called and was instructed to send photos to an email and will get a response 24-48 hrs from the repair team. I will update on this issue as this would be the only major downfall. No one wants to purchase a vehicle with a bad windshield! They are light scratches so I could see how it could get overlooked unless you're driving, you can see the distortion.

Selling vehicle: So far everything has been easy peasy! I feel like we were offered a fair price. I did shop around before as well and was thinking of selling to a private party but didn’t want the headache of that.

Overall, I’m extremely happy except the windshield, which I hope will get resolved. The process was very easy, and the pricing on buying and selling is a fair or good deal in my opinion. I loved the transparency and no upselling! For me, it was extremely scary buying a car online, so that’s why I had so many questions. I also financed through a third party, so I had a little more documentation to provide. From keys, to mats, return policy, you name it, I asked and always got a straightforward answer. We are still in the 7-day period, so I will update any changes after everything is finalized. As of now, most likely we will return for our next purchase in a year or two.

Overall, good experience

By Kathryn C., Illinois, Verified Reviewer

I wanted to sell our 2014 Jeep Compass and buy a larger SUV. Carvana paid me $700 more than Carmax offered. There was a little confusion when scheduling the pick-up, as I had received the offer online, but both me and my spouse were on the current loan, but it worked out in the end. They picked it up from my home within a week, gave me a check for the difference, and the remaining loan was paid off within three days. I'd recommend it.

Fantastic experience

By Megan M., Glendale, AZ, Verified Reviewer

This was by far the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. They were very responsive to helping me choose a vehicle with no pressure to buy on the spot. I did everything from my home, and they delivered the vehicle on time, clean and ready to drive with a full tank of gas. We took it for a test drive and loved it. When we returned, it took us 10 minutes to complete the paperwork, and the vehicle was ours! Thank you, Carvana, for making this experience great!

One year later and no complaints

By Ryan H., Washington, Verified Reviewer

I purchased a Toyota Sienna last year and have no complaints with the vehicle or the process. The only slightly annoying thing was that when it was delivered, whoever loaded the vehicles did not apparently have a map of the area in front of them. The poor driver was driving all over the place, and my car happened to be the first one loaded, and the last one off. As a result, it was an all day back and forth with the driver and having to be on constant standby. Ultimately it was delivered, the vehicle checked out by my mechanic and it's been great ever since.

Fast and easy

By Michael N., Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I bought a car off them after my used one failed. It was a quick buying experience. I had been looking at Carvana for the past six months and a lot of reddit reviews. So I picked the car I wanted and uploaded the documents they needed. I also took an extra step and uploaded my earnings statements that I saw one reddit user did. I don't know if this made the process quicker, but four hours later I was approved, and setting up my delivery date, I asked if an earlier date was possible and they were able to have my car delivered a day earlier.

The test drive went well, the driver was nice. I only noticed the carpets were a little dirty, and the driver said she would order new floor mats before I even got into the car. The car looked like it went through a $20-$30 car wash, not fully detailed, but I didn't care. I don't expect all cars to come fully shampooed and waxed. I only had one issue, which was no USB port. I called the Carvana rep, and they were able to offer me a $250 discount.

I still have four days to decide to keep the car. I'm only disappointed that it came with one key fob and it's one of those intelligent keys that cost like $200-300 to get a spare. Also, I didn't get a goody bag that a lot of other people got.

Awesome experience, awesome vehicle

By Kindal M., Tempe, AZ, Verified Reviewer

I have not owned a car for five years and was skeptical about stepping foot into a dealership or purchasing from someone on Craigslist. I was looking for a no-hassle and intelligent car buying experience, which is exactly what I found with Carvana!

I began shopping around their website for about two weeks, casually searching for a vehicle. This allowed me to thoroughly do research on each and every vehicle without feeling like a salesperson was breathing down my neck, waiting for me to chose a car. One morning I came across the vehicle that I knew I had to have and immediately started the process of purchasing it! Within minutes, I had my paystubs and license uploaded and was on the phone with my bank and Carvana to verify funds. The whole process took about 30 minutes (probably less) and was so easy! There were no surprise fees, and I knew exactly what my total was made up of (i.e. Carvana ExtraCare, state taxes, etc.).

I was scheduled to have my car delivered the day after the Tempe vending machine opened in Arizona. Carvana reached out to ask if I wanted to come pick it up and I definitely said yes! The car buying experience was easy and hassle-free, so seeing the vending machine was definitely an extra perk. I invited some friends to come and check it out and the Carvana staff was so accommodating! It was awesome to see the vending machine, and I drove away with my sweet new car. They had had it detailed, the oil changed, and a full tank of gas!

The Carvana Customer Service throughout the whole process has been and continues to be some of the most amazing customer service I have ever seen. When I call, they are quick to answer any questions that I have!

At the end of the experience, I was not pressured into an extravagant purchase and walked away with a vehicle that had all of the features I wanted it to without going over my budget! I ended up purchasing the Carvana ExtraCare warranty for peace of mind. So far driving my 2017 Chevy Spark has been a dream and while I hope I never have to use the ExtraCare, I know if I do I will be met with people who genuinely care about me and my new car!
