Customer service nightmare, stay away! They still owe me money!

By Chiara Galli, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. WOW, what a nightmare experience.

I purchased some leggings online over a year ago and they misleadingly signed me up for a VIP membership, which I did not want, and I was completely unaware of. They proceeded to take $49.95 out of my bank account every month. Email notifications of these charges was never sent to me. I just got "you got credit" emails that went to my spam box. By the time I realized, they had taken out almost $700 while providing me no services.

I called to ask for a refund and was lied to by two different customer service people, who said I could get a full refund after I got angry because the situation was clearly absurd. Both times, I only got a partial refund, instead of the full one. By this time, my member credit is "expired" so this means I can neither buy anything (I wouldn't want to anyway because this store is an awful place that does not deserve anybody's business) nor get a refund to my account, according to the third person I speak to (we are talking about three different phone calls during the course of over two weeks).

So, they still owe me money, they say they will send me a check for $100 in three months. I have no idea if I will actually see my money again. What I do know is that this was the worst online shopping experience of my life, a colossal waste of my time and energy.

Falsely advertised discounts and frustrating customer service

By Aubrey D., Verified Reviewer

This is a review of the business and how it operates, not the actual clothing or products.

I saw that there was a blitz sale happening for 50% off everything on the website if you signed up for VIP. I had been considering it for a couple of months and decided to sign up. I shopped, found items I liked, and went to check out. I had an old Fabletics gift card that hadn't been used yet and went to add it as one of my methods of payment - as soon as I entered it, the VIP discounts disappeared and a pop up appeared saying that they could not be applied with a gift card. This was surprising to me since this was a fully loaded gift card, not a coupon or certificate or something. Additionally, neither the gift card nor the website gave any indication before that point that you were not eligible for VIP discounts (as a VIP member) when using a gift card.

I found this extremely weird, and paid for my order without any discounts so that I could use the gift card (it was $100 - didn't want to waste it). After about a week, I decided I might as well cancel the VIP membership, having been rubbed the wrong way by the whole situation (plus I didn't love the selection - it felt very limited, and I wasn't thrilled about the idea of shopping the website again). I called the phone number to cancel and was put on the line with a representative who was clearly in an overseas call center reading a script. I asked to cancel and was given a very long-winded speech that ended in "so why don't you just keep the membership for now." I said no thank you, I'd rather just cancel and was given yet another speech, this time offering me $10 off my next payment and ending with the same statement (not a question) "so you will keep the membership for now." While the phone operator was polite overall, it was annoying to listen to them rattling off long lists of why I would regret it if I canceled rather than caring about why I even wanted to cancel in the first place. I asked again for them to cancel the account and they complied. The phone call took about 15 minutes.

The whole operation seems like they will cut corners, advertise misleading prices, and do whatever it takes to make a few more dollars, rather than trying to provide a quality product or provide good customer service to get (and keep!) customers organically.

Scam

By Lynne H., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

The monthly fee is not made clear if you're responding to a special offer. Yes, you get the item at a great price, but you are unaware that from that point in they will take £44 per month out of your bank account! So beware, if you fall into this trap as I did, you'll get a very average quality item at an exorbitant price!

Make sure to CALL to cancel charges

By Teresa F., Ripon, CA, Verified Reviewer

I tried them one time for a good deal, but 3 of the 6 items sent did not fit. Trying to get a refund for these items was not worth the hassle, so I kept them to donate. I went online to cancel my "membership," received confirmation and went on with my life. Almost three months later I notice two months of Fabletics membership fees! But I haven’t been receiving any packages or notices of the withdrawals, nothing! So I call to ask for a refund. Rep tells me I should’ve called to cancel as you cannot cancel online! What the heck?! And now I have a 2-month membership fee credit to use or forfeit! If you don’t use it for one of their "sets," you’re stuck paying outrageous prices for mediocre workout clothes! Save your money and avoid being scammed! Don't shop here!

Return process is horrible

By Melissa C., Durham, NC, Verified Reviewer

I returned 2 pairs of leggings for $31. I mailed them back about 4 weeks ago and BARELY got an email saying I will expect a refund of $13. I paid $31 but I’m only being refunded $13? I will never buy from them again.

Hiding the skip

By Paula L., Michigan, Verified Reviewer

When I first became "VIP" it was very easy to skip the month. Now I feel that the skip is hidden within all the crap and you can't find it. You cannot easily find the "skip this month" and therefore get charged the $49.00. I can't even find a way to look up my account to know how much I have in my so-called account and there is no phone number anywhere to contact someone.

Do not order from this company!

By Liz Ruddock, Bedfordshire, England, Verified Reviewer

They have taken £44 ($60.76) from my account three times without my permission and are refusing to refund it. Apparently, when you sign up as a VIP member, you agree to this. This was not made clear and feel I have been misled. If anyone else feels this has happened to them, please leave reviews explaining what has happened, so others are not misled.

Horrible

By Sara, California, Verified Reviewer

Absolutely horrible. I ordered a pair of leggings for $50 and they came completely damaged, and I called to get a refund but they only allow exchanges. They won't even give you a refund for sending you completely ruined leggings. Their whole VIP thing is a scam and you end up losing your money. To cancel your membership they even make you call them so that they can trick you into staying.

Beware of the VIP Membership

By Betty Walls, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I ordered from Fablitics but didn't read the fine print. $100.00 later I canceled the membership with nothing to show for it. Never again! I couldn't get my money back, I had to buy something for $100 because it was the only option. I gave one star because I couldn't give 1/2 a star.

Nope.

By Cirene N., Tampa, FL, Verified Reviewer

I was so excited to try out Fabletics - too bad it didn’t live up to what I thought it would be. In my opinion, quality wise - it is lacking. I have now bought 6-7 sets of clothes and each and every one of them has a hole somewhere. I wash all of my exercise clothes in cold water, with like colors and never dry them. I haven’t had them for long either. Another downside, the "credit" that you pay for monthly, does not work for the sales that go on throughout the months, or the big sales. For example, I have a credit right now - there is a huge end of the year sale, but I cannot use my credit (only if I want to pay full price). I really would like to know what the deal is with having to pay $50 monthly, but not being able to use it towards sales? Ridiculous. I’d rather wait for the Lululemon sales because I know the quality, and I do not need to subscribe. Will be canceling my membership.

Outsourced overseas customer service is a nightmare

By Michelle D., Florida, Verified Reviewer

I am a new (now canceled) VIP customer. I placed a $200 order, then another $50 order. When I got my order in, I realized that the leggings fit perfect, except that when I moved I was having some issues with gaps in the groin area. So I figured hey, let me check with Fabletics CONSULTANTS so maybe they can give me some advice. Do I need to size up? Size down? Different rise?

The online customer consultant told me I should check reviews, or maybe all 3 of my leggings were defective and I should exchange them (which, if they sell that many defective products what does that say about the quality?). So I call, thinking ok maybe on the phone is better. What I just went through...WOW! I can't believe Kate Hudson is representing this brand. Legit I had to repeat my problem FOUR TIMES and she just wasn't getting it. She also was happy to return my THREE defective leggings, that aren't really defective, I just need help figuring out should I size up, down, or change inseam. THAT'S IT! Then I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told she was in the kitchen and couldn't help me.
