Helped, but not great

This is the second computer I have used it on. The first was an older laptop that an IT person told my daughter was "toast," not worth working on. It got that laptop up and running pretty good for a 10-year-old laptop.

My desktop is just running slow all the way around. I had cleaned out a lot of files, done disk cleanup and defrag, run cleaning software and malware programs. After using the FixMeStick, the speed improved a bit, but not near as much as I was expecting it to.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Program implementation

I had a bit of trouble installing the FixMeStick and after about 6-8 tries with reviewing your instructions, I finally got it to run. I let the program run overnight. The next day it said that the program had finished and fixed. In my opinion, my computer is running slower than before, now what do I do?

It works

It works really well, the amount of time it took was exceptionable, it found two viruses the Windows antivirus didn't find. Making a limit on the amount I should have to put here is really out of hand.

Issues

It eventually took me about two days to finally get the stick to pair with my Apple wireless mouse. It would say mouse found, but curser wouldn't move so I had to keep starting over...very frustrating, to say the least. I even did a factory reset of one of the sticks and then I couldn't find the EFI BOOT so switched sticks. If this keeps happening, I'm not sure if I can rate this good or not. For me, I am not tech savvy, and this only frustrates me considerably! These bugs need to be worked out.

Function key

The FixMeStick would not open up on this tow in one. After three attempts the instruction said enter setup to open the stick from the USB selection in setup. F1, F2, F12 will not open setup. Your lists do not have the key listed for a Maximum III 2n1. I contacted the manufacturer but I have not gotten a response. This is the device I bought the stick for but I can not use it on this device.

Update

Day 2.

Tia was of no help. Tons of attitude and rude. Carried the company's attitude of take it or leave. Got the money, now run. Could not fix the problem. The longer I have this software, the less compatible this is with Windows 10. Every update makes it more difficult to run. At first, autorun would bring up the main menu, then next time we have to look for the EXE file with the file explorer to start the program. Now we have to do a Bios boot to start the program. Still, it cost the same money but is losing some of the features as we go along. Is this what we are paying for? Her point is software changes with fewer features and that's ok for the same money. Having to teach other users that I talked into buying this thing how to Bios boot is not what I signed up for when you can't keep up with the OS changes.

I've been following your correspondences with Tia and I apologize for your frustrations. It's possible your computer upgraded to a newer version of Windows that made booting from the boot menu necessary to get FixMeStick started on your computer. I assure you, we are hard at work to make sure that the FixMeStick works smoothly on as many operating systems and their updates as possible. We are only 25 people here! It's likely that with future updates to our program, you'll again be able to boot into the FixMeStick through Windows (per option 1 in the instructions). For now, it seems you will have to use the BIOS boot method as described in option 3 on your instructions.

First attempt with FixMeStick

My computer is quite old and so perhaps there is an upper limit on the level of improvement that FixMeStick can effect. The fact is that, although the scan proceeded smoothly and successfully, it has made very little difference to the speed or utility of my computer.

My daughter's computer would shut or freeze after seven minutes. The FixMeStick ran a whole 3 hours and completed its scan. Still had to use Malwarebytes and Windows Defender to get the thing running nicely. The Malwarebytes found 80 problems after the FixMeStick ran.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Snail pace

I was relieved when the FixMeStick announced successful virus removal since my computer is less than 3 months old and has been painfully slow for the whole time. I took all the suggested steps, had to use the stick a second time, was not impressed with that, since I am a senior on a severely small pension, and thus could not afford the more expensive stick and my housemate had to use the third and final use to doctor her computer as our computer are networked. The first week I had the computer it was fast, I play WOW, it is my only pastime and contact with the outside world as I am disabled, so imagine my dismay when I went to play my game and still crawled at a snail pace, so that is why I can only give a rating of 3. I have also had the computer "fixed" at the store and am still having the same issues.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

FixMeStick Support should listen more to their users

Hello,

I used FixMeStick for the first time recently as I had a number of issues and I suspected I had some viruses and some type of malware the was hijacking my Google searches and automatically re-directing them to "Bing" - this was VERY ANNOYING.

I run the FixMeStick and the report was that all viruses and malware were fixed. Great! But, when I started my laptop again, the problem with "Bing" hijacking still persisted.

So, I tried to fix it manually by setting "Google" as the default browser in all settings with no success. I searched the web and there were many others having the same problem and the only thing everyone said that it helped was to use an SW called "Malwarebytes". Its a FREE application that actually did the job and I am back to normal now.

I reported this to FixMeStick customer support and recommend to look into upgrading FixMeStick to do what "Malwarebytes" did for me and I got back a generic answer saying that I need to look into settings and can be easily fixed. What?!

This was a VERY BAD answer! I am not a "dummy," I know how to adjust settings for my browser! Your support should "listen" more to what users are saying - I pointed that if the FixMeStick cannot do what other applications do, you guys will lose your reputation and you know what this means - no sales.

BTW, I am in Marketing with a background in high-tech and trying to help - your product idea is great (that's why I bought it) but you need to execute it better. Support is everything for your success.

While in your case this was likely malware, it is possible that the settings are changed due to malware (that the FixMeStick removes) and simply setting them back is a correct step to resolve the problem fully.

Removed several files, computer still has problems

Ran 3 hours and found 2 files malicious. Removed files and ran again. No files 2nd time. Computer still locks up with Google Chrome fatal error message. Norton virus continues to block attacks on the computer but malicious software still seems to be hindering computer operation. Must be further malicious software causing google chrome to lock up. I am sure a scam, I get the message to call Google Chrome help desk. Three-finger restart, the computer and virus attacks continue. I will continue to search for a fix. I am considering reformatting computer and starting over. Neutral on recommending use by a friend as it did work as advertised and removed 2 files but the computer still has problems. Google Chrome locked up again writing this review.

Somewhat disappointed

Hard for me to tell how deep the scan was. It came back with no issues as did my free antivirus scan.

Glad I had no issues but my computer is as slow as before and I do not know if or how complete the scan was.

It was easy to use. But again it scanned a similar number of files as my antivirus.

Like I said, glad I had no issues but not sure if this is any better than a free antivirus.

Support is very good with follow up so a bonus point there.

One problem: FixMeStick choked my TV service (XFINITY 3 PLAY)

My Desktop MAC was kinda running slow. Possibly could be because I generate huge gory gobs of data in no time. Anyway, sure was wise to start with the scan right before bed. Got it started, and then - zzz. When I woke up, here were the results: My computer did not have any malware, it was clean. The scan took over 4 hours. So, as far as the scan itself, all was well. Unfortunately, this job had one side effect: It knocked out my TV service. I have Triple Play Service with XFINITY. You get internet, phone, and TV service all in one integrated system. I LOVE my XFINITY service! The TV is choked, and so I have an alternate plan on how to fix on the cheap. Sorry, but honestly, I have to say that I am not happy with the package, and I regret the decision of that I should check it out. It's no shock, by now I am quite used to that things which sound great will often disappoint you. Sorry, that's my take.

It did help

My current virus protection notified me an attachment contained a FixMeStick and it removed enough of the problems that I could make progress. I did, however, still have issues and one of the downloads that I could not remove, so I downloaded Malwarebytes and it cleaned up everything on my computer. All in all the FixMeStick did help and it was worth what I paid for it.

First time use

Installed FixMeStick on my laptop and ran the program. When done, there was no change in my laptop's speed in booting and loading programs and internet. It was disappointing that it did not improve the function of my computer.

Please, can anyone help? I have had the notification of delivery of my order...could not be delivered until customs charge of £34.40 had been paid. Think in advertisement maybe this should be added to the United Kingdom site, I would not have order and found something simial in the UK as already expensive, but hopefully will do the job purchased for.

I have not had been on my computer since we used the stick, until now. But so far it seemed to have done its job. It just kind of stinks that I now have to reload everything. Will give more feedback when I have used my computer more.

My 1st time experience

I came across an help ad to load the FixMeStick on the computer. I then got it, loaded and followed the directions, and it was off and running. My computer took about 3 hours to scan. I'm glad I did it because I know now that my computer is clean. I've got another computer that needs help! I will have to get back with them on that. By all means, I'm happy. Thank you FixMeStick.

Problem quickly resolved

I was becoming a little disenchanted with FixMeStick because the outer case was continually coming off and I had to super glue it, but the representative told me they would replace it, which made me feel better because I was concerned that the stick could become damaged. I also don't know how well this stick is working in regards to PC threats because every time after using the stick the final analysis states there are no threats, yet other devices I have show there were virus attempts, so I'm depending on the stick for protection based on the TV ads, which I really don't know, so I'm assuming this is protecting me.

I tried the FixMeStick once and I like it.

I'm running an older computer and it started to slow down, so I got the FixMeStick and tried it and it helped. I plan on running it every 2-3 weeks.

I need to upgrade my computer soon but plan to use the FixMeStink on my future computers to keep them uncluttered.

They have a good product.

Good protection value

I have used FixMeStick for 4 years and have had excellent results. I paired it with McAfee anti-virus and have had just no problems. The "stick" failed recently and a brand new one was in the mail the next day. I'm pleased.

In the meantime, I somehow got it working on my own, so I did not call back.

Windows RT tablet

I read great reviews on this device and was ready to purchase. I have a Windows RT 8.5" surface and a Lenova 10" tabley with windows 10. After I talked to their chat line, I discovered they do not support tablets. The chat person was great, and their response was fast and informative. Hopefully, in the future, they'll come out with a tablet version.

Quarantine of 5 viruses

I ran the FixMeStick software initially using the information provided in the FixMeStick box and starting the USB stick as requested. Then using the USB stick, then running it in boot mode, which eventually worked just fine.

Works well

Unfortunately, the startup and use are a bit confusing, you must read all the instructions carefully and be very patient because at first, it won't start working that easily, but once it's running, it works very well. They tell you it's slow, and it is, but with patience, it works as intended. It is even more confusing on Mac, but I got it to work as well. The scan found nothing negative on my PC and Mac. I'm glad I bought this.

Virus removal

I ordered this after my bank account was hacked. The scan informed me I had three viruses my other checkers did not find. My laptop was also running slow. Cleaning the viruses made my system run faster. My laptop still has an issue with random reboots, which I thought was due to the viruses. I was hoping this would fix any registry issues, but I don’t think this product does this.
