Christmas present

By Laura Owen, Nashville, TN, Verified Reviewer

Just cooking cheese and a flour tortilla did this pan in.

I loved the pan the first few times I used it, but then just cooking up some cheese and a flour tortilla caused all kinds of smoke and burning. I am not the worst cook in America, and the top layer of the pan burned. At first, I thought it was the cheese, but I can't for the life of me scrub off the blackened pan bottom, and it no longer has the nonstick texture to it. I never used metal utensils with it, only a rubberized spatula.

There was smoke everywhere. My kitchen looked like the morning fog came in and it stunk. Good thing my smoke detector is not in the kitchen. Although it should be.

No good

By Allen Lindholm, Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I bought one of the Gotham Steel Pans off the TV ad. It was a 10" one. I got it and was so amazed at how good it worked that I went to Walmart and bought a 12" one. They lasted three months, and that is it.

The coating starts coming off, there were scratches all over the coating, and everything sticks. I tried putting spray coating on before using, and things still stuck, especially eggs. Fried or scrambled, it doesn't matter. They both stuck, so I tried putting some oil on them, but the eggs still stuck. So I tried curing them again.

I finally gave up and don't use them anymore. If someone wants them, I'll send them to you for free.

Bad product

By Inga, St. Louis, MO , Verified Reviewer

It didn't work as advertised.

My husband likes to use metal forks, knives, and spoons while cooking. And from the first time he used a fork and small scratches showed up, after that nothing worked on the frying pan as they advertised. So, I mean, it is not scratch-proof at all. It cannot stand even very small scratches. Everything stuck to the frying pan, no matter what we cooked. And it is not damage-proof either. My husband (by accident) bent it a little bit, and that was it. I had to throw away the pan.

So, when they are saying it is non-stick and scratch-proof, it is a big, bad lie!

Works as advertised

By Mark, San Jose, CA, Verified Reviewer

After letting my sister "go to school" on a pan, I got a frying pan from Bed, Bath & Beyond to test it myself. I have used it at least two dozen times, and it works just fine. I have no idea what these people are doing who are reporting sticking, warping, etc. I have not experienced this at all. Frankly speaking, I like my pan a lot better than my non-stick pans.

Not as advertised.

By Virginia Brown, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I was given the frying pan for Christmas 2016, and it was purchased at a Canadian Tire store. Even though they advertise otherwise, the pan scratched and does not eliminate the use of Pam. The eggs came right off the first two times I used the pan, but after that you need Pam, and the pan will need to be scraped just like any other. This is not a non-stick pan, and it scratches if used with a metal spatula. You cannot beat eggs right in the pan.

I am very, very dissatisfied with the product and would not recommend it.

Waste of money

By Cathy, Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I bought the big box set. The first time I used the Dutch oven on the stove top, it warped. And the large frying pan? I've used it twice. I have never used a metal utensil in it, never have put it in the dishwasher or used abrasive cleansing methods, but it has several scratch marks in it. It is almost as if it was boxed up that way in the factory.

I haven't had a problem with sticking, except where the handle is connected to the pan. Coating those two little areas would have been great. What also disappoints me is knowing I have to pay to send the defective products back and may or may not get a replacement.

I wouldn't recommend them.

Disappointed in the pans.

By Patricia A. Lemieux, Tiny, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I purchased three sizes of the Gotham Steel Pans and the food sticks to them all. Eggs become fuzzed to the bottom and end up having to be scrambled.

I am very disappointed in this product. I feel bad that I talked my daughter into purchasing them as well. I have tried cooking at all different temperatures, and it makes no difference. When I cooked peameal bacon, the service ended up with a thick black crust on it and even soaking it in hot water would not remove it. I purchased these pans at Giant Tiger in Midland, Ontario, Canada.

Scam

By Chef Beth, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

This was a waste of $45, which I bought at HomeSence. After a few uses, the pan warped and burnt and became not nonstick. Now everything burns to the pan and won't clean off. I have never used anything but a soft silicone spatula and a soft dish rag on it but it chipped. The same thing happened to my mom's pan. I went on their Canadian Facebook page, and lots of others have had bad experiences with the pans.

Warped

By Steve Chisholm, Springfield, MA, Verified Reviewer

I bought the 12.5" Ti-ceramic fry pan at Bed Bath & Beyond. I brought the pan back because of the high spot on the pan's bottom. During the first time cooking, I just barely touched a spatula to the pan and the pan swung around 180°.

It does not make flat contact with the glass top stove. This makes for inefficient heat exchange and is unsafe. I returned it to Bed Bath & Beyond, but the second pan has the same problem and I will be returning that for a cash refund. I have a 9.5" square pan being delivered, and I hope it's better quality.

Non sticking

This doesn't work. Eggs do not slide off, but they stick instead. It is not worth the money.

No manufacturer data

By William Blair, Oregon, Verified Reviewer

I ordered almost $150 worth of pots and pans. They indicated that the order qualified for "free shipping" through FreeShipping.com, and my order should be received in 2-3 weeks. It's been almost a month (2/27/17), and no such delivery has been received. I called FreeShipping.com after a difficult time finding their number (Customer Service 1-800-869-5597), but they said it was up to Gotham Steel to ship them the order so they could then ship it to me.

Gotham Steel's number was similarly hard to find (Customer Service 888-326-0978). I called them, and they found my order in a computer, but that's all the help they could offer. Apparently, the manufacturer completes the order, then ships it to GothamSteel.com, who then ships to FreeShipping.com, who passes it through to the customer. I asked for a tracking number, but "They don't have that information."

I asked for the name of the manufacturer, and again, they had little information. A Google search shows limited manufacturer information, except through this site (highya.com). I have no pots or pans, and no information about who to go to about that, either.
