Rip off!

By Jill J., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

Tried the 14-day trial so see what the hype was about. Discovered nothing special. The "coach" is a joke. MyFitnessPal is better and free. After the trial ended, I thought that would be it. Was shocked to find out they charged me $129. I never would have even done the trial if I had thought that was possible. Nowhere did it tell me this when I signed up. They won't refund, either. This is devastating when you are on a tight budget. They don't care. They just want to scam you. Their BBB rating is a "D" due to complaints like this and yet they still continue this fraudulent practice. Wish I could give it 0 stars.

Scam or incompetent?

By Jim M., Wood Ridge, NJ, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for the trial, but after being charged a dollar, went to cancel the plan and was told that there was no record of my email address or credit card. Strange, right?

And then yesterday, I was charged $159 and again contacted Noom and was again told that there was no record of my email address or credit card.

Clearly, there is either a massive software problem at Noom - in that they have no record of my credit card and yet keep making charges against it - or there is something fraudulent going on.

Not knowing why it was happening - and not really caring if Noom had the capacity of fixing its system or not - I was forced to report the charges to my bank as fraudulent and ask that the credit card account be closed and a new card issued.

So, either Noom is running a scam (a possibility that I hope is not true), or the Noom software makes charges against credit cards which are not available to its customer service personnel. That seems like a gapping software bug to me! So, buyer beware!

Company will cheat you out of your money!

By Jacqulyn M., Colton, CA, Verified Reviewer

This company will charge for 4 months of service at a time and will refuse to refund if you will not be using the service. I recommend not to provide any credit card information to this company as they take advantage of people and refuse to refund. The service is not worth it. Run away from this company or else you will pay (literally) and "per their policy they cannot refund." I know very well you can refund, you just know that you are taking advantage of people and cheating them out of their hard-earned money.

DOES NOT WORK AT ALL

By Susan F., Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I tried this for 2 weeks...1200 calories per day is all that is allowed. I lost zero pounds despite the very limited amount of calories eaten. The problems I faced include:

1) It is difficult to record the right amount of calories recorded because there are so products out there in addition to the ones in the program.

2) Other potential reasons for the lack of weight loss including water retention.

It is NOT worth the cost. If you do the trial thinking that you have an opportunity to decide if you want to go forward with it, you will be unpleasantly surprised. They automatically take your money if you do not cancel. I would like my money back!

SCAM

By Hannah W., Cambridge, MA, Verified Reviewer

Noom is only out to get your credit card information and will then charge you until you put a stop charge from your credit card against them. Check out their Better Business Bureau rating (https://www.bbb.org/us/ny/new-york/profile/exercise-programs/noom-inc-0121-150555/details#Pattern-of-Complaint), which has over 720 complaints against Noom. Noom is essentially a credit card scam.

Good lessons, but not everything promised was

By Ken C., Orcas Island, WA, Verified Reviewer

I just completed my four-month enrollment with Noom. I liked the little daily lessons, the food log, and I thought the graph to track your weight was very well done.

However, even though it was advertised that we would be included in a group - and the daily lessons at times referred to our group - I was never given the opportunity to join one. Never came up. Maybe I am in a unique demographic and they didn't know what to do with me (I'm a male in my late 60's). Definitely felt like a "bait-and-switch" though.

My goal specialist and I corresponded only occasionally. I didn't know what to do with that feature, actually.

I lost weight during these four months, although I don't know if it was Noom or the cardiac emergency that occurred just before I enrolled - scared the heck out of me, enough to motivate me to restrict my diet and get more exercise.

Total disappointment

By Dionne G., Seattle, WA, Verified Reviewer

The app is a nice tool for tracking, but I am being asked to pay $59/month (what are they thinking?!).

With price in mind, I evaluated the free 14-day trial period and found that the only real value that may have been worth that incredibly arrogant price would be the coaching they said comes with the membership. However, the coaches aren’t really people but “virtual/digital coaches” OR if they are real people they don’t care enough about their assigned people enough to read and answer specific questions and resort to vague canned answers that don’t have anything to do with what you’ve asked.

What a ripoff

By J J., Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

Good luck canceling after the "free trial."

The "Coach" never answered my messages. Charged my PayPal $149 - I NEVER agreed to this. I can't reach anyone to complain. I had to put a stop payment on my bank account. A week later they are still trying to suck this money out of my account. This is a nightmare. I would give it no stars, but their stupid format won't allow it.

Scam! So disappointed!

By Lisa D., Savannah, GA, Verified Reviewer

I saw the ads non stop on my social media accounts and decided to give it a try. Sadly you don't get a real feel for the app during the trial because you don't have full access, so I ended up paying for four months all at once (though it was monthly), and it wasn't any help at all! A total WASTE of 125 bucks! And I opted for the DNA test too, and that was another waste of money! All results said "normal." That's it! Nothing of any help what so ever. The coach never gave me any helpful advise, and there are free apps that are more helpful. The group was impossible to figure out. RUN! STAY AWAY from this program! It is a lot of money for absolutely nothing! It's not a program, no plan to follow. Just vague questions your coach asks and never any real advise at all. SCAM.

Took my money and continue to take my money

By Ashlee S., Ohio, Verified Reviewer

I tried to cancel my free trial before I would be charged and the cancel never went through, and I was charged anyways. I tried contacting support and they never responded. I went to my bank to file for an unauthorized charge and had received my money back weeks later, unfortunately, due to issues with my bank and Noom, months later that money was once again taken from my account because this issue had not been resolved. I have to go through the whole dispute process again. Forget this company.

Do not join!

By Lisa W., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

DO NOT JOIN!

The free 14-day trial period is ok; lots of useful articles and contact from your coach.

Diet and exercise plan are clearly generic and have no personalization at all. I told them I don’t have much time and was given plans that involve hours of exercise and meal prep and cooking. Plus it is American, so not good for food shopping outside the US.

Despite this, I stuck with it. I was charged for the full membership and it immediately went downhill. I was added to a group without permission, and that clearly becomes the focus with the coach backing off and the articles then just repeat themselves.

They have refused a refund only two weeks into the full plan despite not delivering what they promised.

Utter rip-off. Absolutely furious.
