Lame and a scam

By Lu R., Tyler, T, Verified Reviewer

I actually made the mistake of canceling one day past the free trial so I am out $100 plus. I like MyFitnessPal and was looking for more, but this is not it. My coach was lame and not supportive at all. Everyone out there, MyFitnessPal is the best; don’t go here.

I feel like an idiot for falling for Noom. Now I am out 129 bucks.

By A. J. C., Washington, DC, Verified Reviewer

I fell for the marketing. Boy, was that a mistake. A very very expensive mistake.

I did the trial for like two days or so. The info was just the same old info that every diet program gives. There was nothing new or different about it. The diet guide had these weird canned responses that I thought was a bot.

I gave up and uninstalled the app. I thought that would be it, but instead, the jerks debited my card without so much as a warning or a prompt.

I called them, still no callback. I contacted them on social media. Not one response in a week. There are so many other people who were duped by Noom, but I feel stupid for being one.

It is an expensive lesson to lose $129 for something that I could see was not used to start with. BTW, they have a strict "we keep your money" policy. So there is no hope for my wallet.

My login didn't ever work but they still charged me $149

By Kathleen B., Washington, Verified Reviewer

I did the trial version of Noom. After signing up, I could not log into Noom. I tried logging in, but the password wasn't accepted. I sent "forgot my password" several times, but never did I get an email to reset. I tried getting ahold of customer support, and I was only gotten back to after they had charged $149 for a year subscription. Someone finally gets back to me and says oh, sorry you aren't happy. But you don't get a refund. You can still use all of the Noom stuff for your subscription period. I can't use it for the period because I can't log in. If I can't log in and I don't have a coach it is of no use. I asked again for a refund and haven't heard back. The company needs to do the right thing and return my money.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Beware!

By Cheryl D., New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I was going to sign up for trial. I wasn’t even sure it went through. One morning I awake to a $129 charge on my credit card. I never used Noon, and I downloaded the app to cancel only. The app is complicated, and I will never use this program! When asked for a refund, I was refused. You have to cancel before the trial ends. I didn’t know it began! I am out $129 for nothing right before the holidays.

Total scam!

By Jonathan F., New York, Verified Reviewer

They tell you that you can cancel within the 14-day free trial, but when I canceled within that time period, they charged me $129 anyway, and are refusing to issue a refund. DO NOT EVER subscribe to these thieves! Complete ripoff.

No way to cancel the trial

By Rene D., Fort Collins, CO, Verified Reviewer

I was unable to create an account for the 14-day trial so tried to contact the company for help. I could find no Contact Me source. What I did find was that in order to cancel the trial I had to contact my coach on the app that I could not get to work! So now I have been charged the full amount and still have no way to contact them! Very upset. What reputable company does not have phone or email contact info available?

Scam

By Tom T., California, Verified Reviewer

I looked into Noom and bought into the $10 fee to check it out. After about a week - where I've been too busy to get into it, and without agreeing to anything else they started to automatically withdraw $129 from my PayPal without permission and won't return the money. Total scam, very infuriated. I can't stand all those hidden fee agreements and automatic purchases when you just want to look around someone's program...

It works!

By Andrea B., Florida, Verified Reviewer

Ok, first, notice that all the bad reviews are from people who quit the program after less than two weeks. YES - you DO need to read the fine print when you sign up, and if you decide to quit, then you must go to your profile and change the settings so that your subscription will not auto-renew. Do this before your trial expires, or you will get charged.

After the two week trial, you will be charged based on the amount of weight you want to lose and how long it will take you. This is AGREED at the onset of getting started. Can you get a refund? Yes, you can, but it will take a few days. Simply put, know what you're getting into before you hit the join button. Anytime you put your credit card number in, be prepared to be charged - REPEAT, read the fine print BEFORE signing up!

Now, that being said, this app is great. The concept is simple. It helps you change your eating habits, retrain your brain, be accountable to yourself and you watch the weight drop off sensibly. You do not have to buy special foods. You decide what you eat. Nothing is off limits and in fact, they encourage you to indulge here and there, rather than deprive yourself.

Do you drop dramatic amounts of weight in a short time? No. It took you a while to pack on the pounds, and that's how you should lose them.

There's a private support group, one-on-one weekly (sometimes more often) coaching sessions. They use psychology, science, tips, tricks, and hacks to keep you motivated. I have lost an average of 1.75 lbs per week so far.

My current subscription is due to expire in the middle of December. Because I suspect that four months is ample time to retrain my brain and my body to a more healthy eating style, I went ahead and TURNED OFF AUTO-RENEW. I still have all the bells and whistles, the coaching, the support, the tips, tricks, hacks - everything - I just decided to take control of IF and WHEN I renew. Heck, with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, I just may need to re-up, but I will make that decision when the time comes.

It's a great app and works if you do your part.

The gloom and doom of Noom

By Sue F., Virginia, Verified Reviewer

Although I like Noom a lot, it quickly wore thin. The monthly cost is a bit staggering after the first month because the quality of articles decreases significantly. There is too much of "Noom's" acronyms and cutesy phrases to remember everything. Also, the group sizes are too big, it's difficult to find support with 30+ members all chatting away AND new members being added during the course. Having access to your personal coach only on set days isn't worth the cost and I wasn't finding a connection with her. I really love the way Noom breaks food calories into green/yellow/red. That was great.

Unauthorized payment to Noom has been made against my credit card

By Therese L., Queensland, Australia, Verified Reviewer

I purchased a 3-month membership with Noom and have found that a second membership amount has been deducted without my consent. I have tried to arrange to have the payment refunded with my nominated contact person at Noom (Taylor), but she said that she can't do that, and I have no further contact details for where I can resolve this issue.

Major scam

By Julie R., Providence, RI, Verified Reviewer

It's hard to believe, but this is a major ripoff. I canceled my subscription well within the 14-day trial. My coach verified my cancellation, but then I was charged $149 two days later. I can't get a real response. It's hard to believe this is really happening.
