Scam

By Yahya C., District Of Columbia, United States, Verified Reviewer

They will lure you into a 14-day trial and then charge you a non-refundable $129 for four months even if you didn't use the app past two days.

If you want to cancel during the 14-day trial, they don't have any easy option except getting in touch with support.

It's a scam - stay away!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Suits me perfectly

By Denise Jones-Gagne, Connecticut, Verified Reviewer

I am a lifetime dieter and have tried many diets. Noom is the first program that supports building new habits for a lifetime (not doing something extreme, or eating someone else's "food" so that you can't exist in the real world).

I am not a person who likes in-your-face coaches. I am not a person who necessarily excels at group participation either. I was highly skeptical, but did the two weeks anyway. That was all it took. I'm learning more about the psychology of my overeating and my weight than I would have imagined. I am able to apply everything they are doing. I'm six weeks in, and I am still connected with my coach the way that I WANT to be connected. And there is no pressure from the group on how much you share. The weight graphing, and the food logging (AND the coach) keep me appropriately accountable and are excellent because I am a visual learner.

Someone mentioned the articles are childish and overrun with hashtags. I am older and I appreciate that they are light reading, backed by facts and the hashtags (definitely not from my generation), make it fun and a little silly, which makes what you're reading stick with you better, by the way.

I've received everything Noom said it would deliver so far, including the weight loss, but even beyond the pounds, I feel healthier, and more in control of my choices and lifestyle. There's something somewhere for everyone, Noom is the right thing for me.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

They take your money and even PayPal does not save you

By Nana E., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

Please do not even think of joining them. They will just take the money, and you will not be even protected with PayPal! PayPal is becoming terrible with that, allows us to be scammed with so many companies like Noom. No one cares about buyers anymore. And Noom makes fake money, for no service provided. I wish you all the bad. Idiots.

Beware - take your money, no service

By Cat C., Johannesburg, South Africa, Verified Reviewer

The ad campaign claims experts will guide you through the process, and you will have daily coaching.

It’s all run by bots and not very clever ones.

Daily tips are generic that can be seen all over the Internet.

No recipes or diet plans are provided.

No customized exercise programme or dietary tips.

It’s like any regular free calorie counting and exercise recording system - although I have seen better ones.

The biggest problem is that cancellation is complicated. You have to cancel through said bot who doesn’t reply. Getting in touch with humans is impossible, and I have been unable to cancel my membership during my trial. That smacks of a scam!

I am going to have to change my credit card number to stop them charging me over $100 in 5 days time.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

No warning

By Sarah D., California, Verified Reviewer

Noom said this would be the cost of shoes, and for me, the cost of shoes is $60. Instead, I paid $129 without warning, and that is predatory! This is MY money and I need to be asked PERMISSION before I give you MY money! I would have been happy to pay the monthly fee of $60, because maybe in a month I would have been happy with results and pay for the longer service. But my body hasn't shown any changes in the trial, and unless you starve yourself, you won't see any changes. Now I'm near broke, and I will really be starving. And non-fundable? Lies, I don't even think that's right, and we'll see when I contact my bank about this!

This stress alone will make me lose weight, so I guess it's working!

Charged $149 without my approval!

By Rennah B., Massachusetts, Verified Reviewer

They charged my debit card without me even signing up or entering my card information. If you call them you only get an automated message. If you go to the website you're forced into downloading their apps in order to cancel the subscription I never agreed to in the first place. They should be investigated which is what my bank is doing.

Stay away

By Mel P., Brainerd, MN, Verified Reviewer

This app is essentially useless, and when I canceled one day after the 14-day trial period, I was charged $99 with absolutely no opportunity for a refund. Please do not waste your time or money on this scam. Run very fast and very far in the other direction!

Noom is NOT as advertised...long ways to go

By Anastasia B., Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

I was very excited to try Noom and ended up getting a subscription. I soon started to notice that the goals specialist and later group coach was not responsive and weeks would go by without a response. I understand they work 9-5, but getting ghosted by a "coach" for weeks? Not okay.

The articles at first were helpful but then started to get extremely repetitive and not in a "practice makes perfect" way, in a "we don’t know what else to write about for 4 months" kind of way. Not only that, but the app is riddled with spelling errors! As a marketer and writer, this probably bothers me more than it would others but, come on.

About two months in, I had an emergency and had to move states, so I had my curriculum reset. However, it took a week and then I was off in my group. Overall, I don’t think it’s ready for the masses, and they’re going to have to make a lot of improvements, especially to the awful food logging feature (and I mean AWFUL), before I would ever consider testing it out again. It’s a great concept but execution, and frankly, expertise, is a huge miss.

Worst program ever

By Lyne R., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

Don't subscribe to this crap program. It is so lame, worst program ever! The content of their material is not even up to par for kindergarten children. I have learned nothing new with this program, and it is expensive. On top of it, their business practices are awful.

Most impersonal personal diet program

By Hilton S., Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

They say you are allocated a personal assistant who will help you through the diet. The first question asked she could, did not want to answer. I never logged a meal and she communicated once and never again. I think it is expensive for what you get.

The reality of the experience is very different from reality.

Scam, no customer service

By Joanna S., Scottsdale, AZ, Verified Reviewer

Stay away! It only took me one day to learn that Noom is not worth my time and certainly not worth the money.

They say that you'll get personalized coaching, but it's not true. The "coach" is very robotic, uses canned phrases, and they don't respond to your messages in a timely fashion. The interface leaves a lot to be desired as well. It's a poorly designed app, and there is no accompanying website to update your food log or daily exercise. The food log does not have a very large database to choose from so your calorie count will be inaccurate. No screen to view progress.

Overall, not worth the $159 they want up front after the free trial. Free sites are just as good, if not better. Canceling is very difficult. I had to send a message to the coach, which was not responded to right away. Make sure you cancel on time or else they bill you and won't refund it.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
