Fern did a great job in explaining every step in detailed; I got started after she finished explaining.

On week one of my braces!

Ok, so some of these reviews hit home, like the tongue getting cut up a bit and the gum. But imagine if you got metal braces, it would be incredibly worse. My Boyfriend says I made a good choice not getting metal cause they don't just cut your tongue the cut up your entire mouth cheeks behind lips and all. I remember when he had braces and he still has scars and indents today. You absolutely have to go get them scanned and follow their directions to the tee (read everything and repeat). The tool they give you I'm not fond of but I see the need for it when I used my nails to take the top off it made grooves sharp indents the ended up cutting into my gum. I filed it down so it's fine now. I get many compliments on how clear the braces are and the whitening kit is awesome. Customer service is great and I got my braces the day after my birthday.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Free 3D scan, great experience

Horrible customer service

Had a problem midstream. Takes 6 weeks to correct. Every contact from customer service is different, but all with the same pat response. No way to escalate an issue for a paying customer in the middle of treatment. So many other choices out there. Use them!

The time frames that we have are the quickest that we can make any aligners depending on if they are refinement aligners or just replacements. Replacements are typically quicker, since there are fewer, while refinement and mid-course correction aligners take a bit longer, since there are typically more. My SmileDirect experience

I had an appointment for my 3D scan. Their office set up is very nice and comfy. I could tell they're conscious of not making anyone wait around. When I met them, I could tell they talk with their smiles and their smiles are beautiful. I met Jonathan and Julie. Both were very pleasant, but Jonathan was the one who really went through every step with me. The attention is awesome and the 3D scanning is awesome as well. I don't like to show my teeth close-up to anyone, but they're really good at warming you up, lol.

Consultation

When going to one of the locations, they were so happy to see me, pleasant, fast, and very understanding of the product and so forth. Very professional, discuss and break it down to your upcoming 6 months change, and if anything happens what to do and just a very good experience, hope to see what the next 6 months will bring. Never got any braces or anything, it’s a fresh new start and as a visit to the office very pleasant and worth doing. Can’t wait.

False expectations and terribly managed

The service is initially alright and I had no major problems during the initial aligner process. However, once it got time to order the retainers that is when the issues started happening. Like many others on this site, I am beyond frustrated with the delays. If you're not going be able to ship a product, don't set false expectations.

I ordered my retainers a month ago and still have not received them. This leaves my teeth prone to shifting, erasing all that time spent aligning them. Their website is also terrible, it doesn't provide much information other than how to buy more items. There is no tracking information for your order or any feedback on your progress other than the initial 3-D model of your teeth adjusting. They also make it difficult to submit issues as you have to go through their customer service with different representatives handling each communication rather one streamlined portal on your dashboard. The customer representatives are friendly and it's not their fault that this company is so poorly run, but it is incredibly frustrating to have to deal with multiple people and get no resolution beyond a couple of trite standard lines about how there is a delay and they are on it.

My advice, if you are comfortable with a completely hands-off experience, with no guidance from a dentist, and are willing to spend almost $2000 for it, then this is the service for you. However, if not, definitely go elsewhere, especially for your retainers.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced

Everything was on track until I got to my last month of aligners. After opening the first set of the last month I realized that the top aligner was deformed. I checked the rest of the month's aligner and found the same issue. I immediately contacted SmileDirect in order to fix the issue. It took 3 MONTHS to receive the correct aligners. By then my teeth had shifted back (even though I still continued to use the last aligner set correctly).

Their response was to go back and get re-evaluated. Even so, I still have to wait another 2-3 weeks, at the very least, to get another set of aligners! Overall, this does not satisfy me because I believe I am owed financial restitution for this dissatisfying service.

Every time I try to get ahold the resolution center I’m placed on hold and then eventually the call is disconnected on their side. I can’t believe I’ve wasted $1850 on this product. I’m definitely not smiling.

Horrendous

Wow, complete scammers. Two of my aligners were missing. I was able to skip the first one and jump to month 2 easily. I wasn’t able to do so for month 2 and 3/4 on to month 3 week one though. I called hoping to receive it ASAP do my teeth doesn’t shift back which would be a set back because I have a wedding to attend. These people continue to lie to me about when I’ll receive my new box, got hung up on, places on hold for almost 20 minutes and I’ve spoken to 4 preventatives and they all continue to lie saying it’s on the way. I constantly have to call to find out if my box has been shipped. Then fast forward 1 month later I called, was placed on hold again for a long while, then the customer service rep Matthew told me they are still in the process of making me the aligners. What! Wow, unbelievable. They failed to keep all their promises, lie, and won’t hesitate to charge you. My boyfriend is experiencing the same thing by the way.

Poor customer service

Hi there,

I visited the SmileDirectClub in Williston, Vermont to see if I needed aligners for my teeth and I was told I can sign up for it with a full refund within 30 days. I paid a downpayment of $250 as an initial payment. After going home I realized the total cost of $1800 for these aligners is a little too much for me to afford and so I called SmileDirectClub the very next day to cancel my order. The custom rep told me that they have canceled it and I should receive my $250 back. After a week I noticed in my credit card that the charge of $250 was still there. So I called them again and this time I was told that my order wasn't canceled and some person named Tim will contact me as this is their standard procedure to cancel the order.

So then I waited to be contacted by Mr. Tim and he reached me the next day and apologized that the order was shipped already so I have to return it through FedEx once it delivers to my address. I was upset that why was it shipped when I had already canceled more than a week ago. He told me that there will be a return label and I shouldn't have any issues getting my money back. So then I waited for my order. It got delivered and I opened it only to find the box but no shipping label for return. So I called again to SmileDirectClub and I was told I've to pay for shipping! I told them that the mistake was on their part and I shouldn't be paying for it. After this back and forth the custom rep said I will have to wait for Tim to call me and sort this out. I waited 3 days still no response. So I called the helpline again and the same story - Mr. Tim will contact me. I requested if I can have the contact or email address of Mr. Tim so I could direct my request to him and I was told this is not company policy. So here am I still waiting to get my refund after 3 weeks of canceling my order!

Totally disappointed with the customer service.

I won't recommend this.

Not worth it

I've been wearing my aligners FOR OVER A YEAR (including refinement months since I was not happy with the results).

I've seen minor adjustments but not straight teeth. My aligners actually CREATED SPACES BETWEEN MY TEETH THAT WERE NOT THERE BEFORE. They pushed my smile out which I'm assuming was to help to crowd, but my teeth are still crooked and have gaps.

I've decided I'm done and it's taking OVER A MONTH TO RECEIVE RETAINERS. They advise you to continue to wear your existing tray but I've had three aligners break (crack) and now I'm wearing previous trays for a smile that I am not happy with. At this point, I'm fairly confident the retainers won't even fit because of how much my teeth have shifted as I wait for them to arrive.

Unfortunately, I feel this has been a WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. My dentist is concerned with the impact on my gums.

Overall I'm disappointed.
