Big time ripoff

By Terri W., Washington, Verified Reviewer

Anyone reading this, DO NOT do this! There are hidden costs not showing until after you have paid one thing and then they show you pay for the rest of your days. Please, do not do this, and if you do, good luck getting back any money. I am still fighting this one.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Beware of the free trial! There is no canceling!

By Tiffeny H., Indiana, Verified Reviewer

This company will give you the runaround for sure! If you start with the free trial, beware! There is no way to contact a human through phone or email. There is not even the "real" coach, more or less this chat bubble they say you have to use to cancel. In order to cancel the free trial, they instruct you to download the app on your phone, contact your coach and go from there. Well, that's not possible because there is no chat bubble or coach on the app! So being unable to cancel, I was charged $129 which they say is non-refundable! I now have to go through the trouble of canceling my card and re-establishing all of my auto-pay accounts for my bills, etc.

This is nothing but a scam as far as I am concerned. Do not fall for it! You are better off just eating healthy and exercising on your own!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Scam alert!

By J T., Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I did not even confirm my phone number nor installed the app (didn't know I need an app to use it) and they took 136 USD from my account. These guys are doing some really shady business. Word of advice, stay away.

Not for me

By Mary S., Iowa, Verified Reviewer

I love the way that the program worked. I like how the meals logged in, and the pedometer works really good for me, but I'm on disability and am not able to walk or exercise a lot. I read the reviews on how hard it was to cancel, but when I put in that I wanted to cancel after the trial, it went through immediately. It said it would take 2 to 3 days but it only took 5 minutes. I think for a normal person who could exercise a little more, this program would work really well. Being on a limited income, I could not afford the $149 that was charged. I was sure it said $24 or $25 a month after the trial and was surprised when the charge came through. Thank God it was easily rectified.

I'm mad!

By Janet C., Mississippi, Verified Reviewer

I tell you one thing, this company will be accused of taking an unauthorized debit out of my bank account to the tune $159! For what? I have no product whatsoever, and I thought uninstalling the app was the way to cancel. When I realized that some things were not accurate, I uninstalled the app, way before the free trial days were up. Then I see they got my money? How can they justify taking $159 for absolutely nothing! It's theft pure and simple, and I will take the proper steps to prosecute and get my money back period. I'm sure this review won't be posted, but if there is anyone that actually RECEIVES this message, tell the CEO of Noom that I mean what I say.

Horrible auto-charge policies

By Stewart G., Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

I did four months of Noom. The first several months were very helpful, and I lost some weight, which I was happy about. However:

1. After the first few months, the daily tips are just recycled versions of the previous daily tips. There's almost no value. The coach checks in with one sentence or so once a week, and the food/exercise trackers are far less sophisticated than even free ones like the Samsung Health app.

2. Their auto-charge policy is very unclear. I understood that I would be auto-charged if I didn't cancel after the trial, and I chose to continue and pay after the trial.

However, I had no idea it would charge me again 4 months later, I thought the program simply ended after 4 months. On the last day of the 4 months, when I saw the new charge pending on my credit card, I immediately reached out to support. They refused to do anything about it and insisted that I pay for and use another 4 months, even though I had not used any of it and it was day one.

I would have recommended Noom to lots of people if it wasn't for these few things, but instead of respecting customers, they have shockingly bad customer service and essentially try to trick people into paying.

Do not sign up for this

By Denise M., California, Verified Reviewer

Hey friends. I signed up for what I thought was a trial. I was charged and there is no way to cancel via phone. You need to cancel after first downloading the app. Before you can even finish the trial, they charge your card so be forewarned. Also, the product of a weight loss plan was a PDF with general info about how to lose weight and no foods or suggested food plans were provided. It's a bit confusing since I was expecting a plan. I don't have an order number. I'm wondering why they don't email this info to customers when we sign in with email? Confused...

Scared away from something great

By Amanda R., New South Wales, Australia, Verified Reviewer

I started the trial and loved the first day. I went to read reviews of other peoples' progress and saw a lot of negativity about not being able to cancel and people getting ripped off. I panicked and went into the app and asked to cancel. They responded almost immediately and canceled for me, allowing 4 more days' access. I'm on my last day but am seriously thinking about starting over as I love all aspects of the program; the guidance, recipes, tracking steps, etc.

Promotes stigma

By Christy K., Minnesota, Verified Reviewer

The program says it's based in psychology, yet they call emotions "irrational." This is like telling a person who broke their leg that the pain is irrational. Emotions are a guide to what is going on. They are neither good nor bad, and certainly not irrational. It's what we choose to DO in response that can be good or bad. A program that is supposed to be based in psychology would not dismiss and minimize emotions. Understanding why we eat emotionally and choosing a different path, and encouragement to look at our emotions and what they are signaling makes more sense psychologically speaking.

It works!

By Andrea B., Florida, Verified Reviewer

Ok, first, notice that all the bad reviews are from people who quit the program after less than two weeks. YES - you DO need to read the fine print when you sign up, and if you decide to quit, then you must go to your profile and change the settings so that your subscription will not auto-renew. Do this before your trial expires, or you will get charged.

After the two week trial, you will be charged based on the amount of weight you want to lose and how long it will take you. This is AGREED at the onset of getting started. Can you get a refund? Yes, you can, but it will take a few days. Simply put, know what you're getting into before you hit the join button. Anytime you put your credit card number in, be prepared to be charged - REPEAT, read the fine print BEFORE signing up!

Now, that being said, this app is great. The concept is simple. It helps you change your eating habits, retrain your brain, be accountable to yourself and you watch the weight drop off sensibly. You do not have to buy special foods. You decide what you eat. Nothing is off limits and in fact, they encourage you to indulge here and there, rather than deprive yourself.

Do you drop dramatic amounts of weight in a short time? No. It took you a while to pack on the pounds, and that's how you should lose them.

There's a private support group, one-on-one weekly (sometimes more often) coaching sessions. They use psychology, science, tips, tricks, and hacks to keep you motivated. I have lost an average of 1.75 lbs per week so far.

My current subscription is due to expire in the middle of December. Because I suspect that four months is ample time to retrain my brain and my body to a more healthy eating style, I went ahead and TURNED OFF AUTO-RENEW. I still have all the bells and whistles, the coaching, the support, the tips, tricks, hacks - everything - I just decided to take control of IF and WHEN I renew. Heck, with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, I just may need to re-up, but I will make that decision when the time comes.

It's a great app and works if you do your part.

Wish I read the reviews before the trial offer

By Jean B., Green Valley, AZ, Verified Reviewer

My coach was a programmed being or not being! She asked me if she could help me with something and I said I have trouble being enthusiastic about exercise. No response. I then wrote an email to find out about how the $199.00 membership works. No response.

I wrote a few emails and messages and never received a response.

The app is antiquated. Many things you cannot do. Price is too high for what it is!

SCAM, in my opinion!
