Noom is for those who are serious about weight loss

By Priscilla P., Torrance, CA, Verified Reviewer

I lost successfully on WW but then gained some of the weight back. After returning to the program, they eventually switched to Freestyle. This did not work for me, because people who need to lose weight need structure, not a free for all. That is how we got fat in the first place.

I like Noom because it is informative, strategic and helps with concepts such as the Elephant and its Rider, which is a powerful visual of how we struggle with our weight. I am a slow loser, but found my Group and Individual Coach to be helpful and motivating. I love the weight graph which projects how quickly I can attain my goal as it tells me "hey someone has faith in me when I have no faith in myself." And as I have lost, that faith in myself has begun to grow, and I know I can do this. I love the food analysis, as I strive to eat healthier and I can check that in the middle of the day to see where I am and what I can change.

NOOM works if you work and are serious. I love that it is a Behavior Change program because I needed behavior changes. Noom has taught me to be friends with all foods and what place they all have in my life. I would highly recommend.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

BEWARE!

By Dana D., Riverhead, NY, Verified Reviewer

When my free trial ended, Noom charged me $89.65 for what was supposed to be a $59 a month subscription!

When I messaged my coach saying I wanted a refund and to cancel my subscription I got a computer-generated response that they had canceled my automatic renewal but NOTHING about a refund! I then found out that after your free trial is over, they will not refund any charges! WHAT! No matter what number you call you just get a recording telling you how to cancel your automatic renewal.

SO BEWARE, they are going to charge you a lot more than they say and do not refund that charge you were told about!

Also, it’s been nine days of following the program religiously without losing an ounce.

Before and now

By Stacy B., Preston, ID, Verified Reviewer

I had the opportunity last summer to be a part of the Noom program. It took me close to three months to actually see any progress. But I got there and felt good about it. I also felt like I had learned enough to keep going. I got an offer "too good to refuse" from Noom in December, so I signed back up. I was a little wary of being in the program for a year since it seems to take quite a bit of time. But now I'm happy to be in it and see that in the long term, I can develop a more solid foundation.

I like the idea of the program. But to be honest with you, I like the Noom program I participated in last summer better. I feel like I'm on information overload with this one. I understand that it's mostly the same, but there is so much to take in. I have gotten myself a notebook and write notes so that hopefully I can remember the stuff I'm learning. I understand that you give us this information so that we can find what will work for us individually. Anyway, I plan to stick with it, but that's my 2 cents. It's worth exactly what you paid for it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Horribly ran business with lack of structure

By Cheryl L., San Jose, CA, Verified Reviewer

When I first purchased Noom, I added the Orig3n DNA test to my package as well. I was told results would be back to me in 8 weeks. I reached out multiple times in regards to not receiving my results. I reached out to Orig3n in November 2018 and I was told to wait a little longer. I purchased in September of 2018, my sample was received in October 2018, and I didn't even get notification of it being processed until March 2019.

No other services were used at all as I was very unhappy with the company and lack of response and results, so I reached out in late December 2018 to Noom complaining about Orig3n and Noom services requesting a refund since their services were not as promised. I heard back from one rep (Michael Krisher) from Noom saying I was supposed to receive an email to schedule a phone consult and I never received that and I would have to contact Orig3n. I replied back that I wanted my refund and to cancel and did not get a response. I reached out again in January 2019 with Orig3n in regards to my complaints and not receiving my DNA results. Orig3n confirmed they sent a request to Noom for a refund which I still not have received.

Now on April 1st I was charged again by Noom. So now they owe me a total of $298.00. I emailed them requesting support on April 1st and it is now April 4th and I still have not heard back from anyone. Horrible business that just takes your money.

Awesome

By Keri C., Ohio, Verified Reviewer

I tried Noom once before and it was working but I didn't feel that I wanted to pay the money, so I went and tried my other low-carb diet, whatever one I was on at the time and gained weight. So then I tried your program again and I have been successful. I'm so excited to be able to pick and choose my foods, learn about psych tricks, and all the colors that you have to choose from. I would highly highly highly recommend this place, I mean program.

FRAUD

By Doreen M., Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I have never been able to load the app and have made numerous attempts at contacting Noom to no avail.

Why will they not contact me? Are they frauds?

However, they did deduct $139.06 from my account. It was supposed to be $129.00. Qhat is this all about?

The probability of being published is low because it is a negative but truthful comment. Perhaps HighYa's staff can help to rectify this problem and get someone to contact me. Please help me.

A good way to lose weight

By Rebecca P., California, Verified Reviewer

I had lost weight using Weight Watchers before and maintained the loss for three years. Then menopause hit. I found myself not wanting to go back to the Weight Watchers group meetings, which I thought were mostly rather silly.

Then a friend who had also passed menopause showed up at a social event looking great. I asked her how she did it, and she told me about Noom. I joined Noom in January.

I'll admit that I find a few things about Noom annoying. The messaging is relentlessly cheerful, and when I'm stuck at a plateau or feeling hopelessly hungry, this can get old. And some of the articles are too "woo woo" for this hard-headed rationalist. I'm indifferent to the goal specialist and support group, but some people might find these helpful.

That said, the app makes it easy to track calories and exercise, and the psychology in the articles is usually quite helpful. The goal of having members establish a healthy relationship with food that doesn't rule out occasional indulgences is a good one. Most important, Noom doesn't lie about how hard it is to lose weight. It just gives you lots of ways to meet the challenge. My goal is to lose five pounds a month until I'm in the healthy range, and so far I'm on track with a 15-pound loss.

Noon takes money even if you cancel

By Candy C., Oklahoma, Verified Reviewer

If I could give less than one star, I would. I canceled the same day I signed up for the free trial and they still took payment from my account two weeks later. Human assistance is unavailable except through email, and I have received no response from them. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and with PayPal.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love my Noom app

By Arlene S., Encinitas, CA, Verified Reviewer

Noom is turning my life around to the better. I love the app, it is so easy, and I look forward to reading through it each morning. I can tell you when my 16 weeks are up I'm signing up again. Truly Noon is that enjoyable. I had 50 pounds to lose. After 3 months I'm down 25 lbs, and looking so forward to kicking the last 25lbs overboard. Great program, I cannot say enough good about it.

Life changing

By Regina R., Braselton, GA, Verified Reviewer

I have struggled with my weight all of my life it seems. Before trying Noom, I’d let myself get almost as big as I was when I was pregnant 10 years ago and was unhappy with myself but unmotivated to do anything about it. I kept seeing commercials for Noom and something about the thought of the program kept returning to my thoughts.

I finally decided to give it a try. I signed up for the free trial and set off. I decided to be completely honest with myself with food logging, activities and my thoughts/feelings in general. This has truly changed my life for the better. I have good days and bad days just as before but now I know this isn’t an all or nothing situation.

This is helping me help myself be a healthier me for myself and my son. My son has CP and will need lifelong care. One of my biggest fears is who will take care of him when I’m gone. So I’m doing what I can to stay around and be able to do it myself as long as possible.

In my 50 years, I have learned that I cannot do the "quick loss" challenges or the no-this or no-that plans. Whenever food becomes off-limits, I want it all the more. So I haven’t said no to anything. I will have just enough to satisfy me without going crazy, or I’ve even found myself easily deciding it just wouldn’t be worth it at the time.

I am so thankful I’ve found Noom and am already well on a good path of feeling better and fitting in my clothes better. I highly recommend it and have already done so to anyone who has asked.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Red food category NOT motivating

By Paulette B., Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I am an avid exerciser and have watched and tracked my calories for years. I have been trying to lose those pesky last 5 - 10 pounds for years as well. I believe I eat very well, it's the weekends that are my issue. Noom has a red category for foods which one should limit, however, I feel this is much too low. And it does not increase even if you exercise...even if you exercise ALOT! So, in a typical day, I may have ONE TBSP of Olive oil for my salad, ONE (140-calorie) Yogurt, and SIX Triscuits, and I am over the amount on the RED category! I could run a marathon and I am still only allowed 300 RED food calories. I don't often go over my TOTAL calorie limit, but ALWAYS go over in the red category. This makes the Noom program unsustainable.
