The Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher claims to combat many forms of skin discoloration, including age spots, sun spots, and liver spots. This advanced serum promises to transform a blotchy, uneven skin tone to restore your skin and give you a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Gundry is an American doctor and author who formerly worked as a cardiac surgeon. He’s written numerous books on holistic wellness through a better diet and has released a line of supplements and skincare products designed to keep you looking young and feeling healthy.

The Dark Spot Diminisher’s formula contains a range of ingredients that will purportedly improve your skin’s health without adverse side effects, meaning that you can use it for the long term.

These claims aren’t unique within the anti-aging skincare industry. Does the Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher stand out from other options? Our analysis of this premium product will help you decide if it is a good option for you.

Pros
  • Ingredients show clinical evidence for reducing dark spots
  • Minimal side effects associated with ingredients
  • Positive customer reviews indicate it works for many
Cons
  • Confusing pricing information
  • No ingredients that stand out compared to other dark spot treatments

How to Use It

The Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher is a skincare serum designed for twice-daily use. The company suggests you apply it to your trouble spots twice daily in the morning and evening.

You can start by applying a dime-sized amount to your dark spots and surrounding areas, massaging it into your skin with gentle circular motions.

Make sure you leave it on for as long as possible before showering or otherwise rinsing it off so that the active ingredients have time to work.

Analysis of Ingredients

Many of the ingredients in the Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher act as emollients, exfoliants, skin lightening agents, humectants, thickening agents, preservatives, natural sources of antioxidants, and other skin conditioning agents.

A few deserve a second look.

Bacillus ferment is an enzyme-based skin exfoliant that is used as an alternative to alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), a class of compounds that are often used to plump and smooth the skin while visibly brightening dark spots. Some people experience adverse side effects from AHA’s like burning, itching, or even blisters, so bacillus ferment is often used as a milder alternative with less risk of irritation.

Diglucosyl gallic acid, also known as trihydroxy benzoic acid alpha-glucoside, is a patented molecule that’s used to lighten skin pigmentation and brighten your overall skin tone. It can reduce dark spots and prevent new ones from forming.

Sodium hyaluronate is a common ingredient in anti-aging products because it will purportedly increase your collagen production to improve your skin’s elasticity and fill in fine lines and wrinkles. Clinical evidence shows that it will work as described, but only when taken as injections. There’s less evidence right now that it will work when used topically in a skin cream.

Diamond powder is often added to skincare products, both to increase their perceived value and to act as a natural exfoliant. The powder is commonly used as a brightener to disguise fine lines and wrinkles by reflecting light off your skin. However, this ingredient is listed low in the Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher, so you shouldn’t assume there’s much in it.

Finally, the serum includes a range of plant extracts that are known as polyphenols. Renowned for their high antioxidant content, polyphenols applied topically are considered an effective way to combat some of the causes of aging skin, including environmental damage and free radical exposure.

Overall, many ingredients in the Gundry MD Dark Spot Diminisher show promise for working as described to moisturize your skin and lighten your dark spots.

Possible Side Effects

According to the company website, all Dark Spot Diminisher ingredients are 100% safe for topical use and won’t lead to skin irritation when used correctly.

We didn’t uncover any known side effects throughout the research process, and in at least one case—bacillus ferment—a milder version of a popular ingredient is used to reduce irritation further.

If you tend to have sensitive skin, it’s still a good idea to perform a patch test before using this product. Dab a small amount on your arm and watch how your skin responds over 24 hours before applying it to your face.

Each has also earned a stellar review from HighYa readers, averaging more than four stars and close to nine out of 10 readers recommending them to others.

In our estimation, this means that you can’t go wrong with experimenting with any one of these dark spot removers. Each company also offers a no-questions-asked return policy, so you will only be out the cost of shipping if you decide it isn’t right for you.

  • My awful brown spots!

    Overall Experience:

My brown spots are a result of a fall I took in the parking lot carrying a stack of plastic boxes. I had several divets on my arm, one being quite deep. After they healed, I was left with brown splotches that haven't gone away. They are thick skin that lifts from time to time and when it lifts, the spots turns dark red. Eventually, they go back to brown spots. I have only been using the Spot Diminisher for a few weeks, but it seems to be helping. The skin doesn't seem as thick as it was and they haven't been lifting or peeling. So far so good! It also smells great. Thank you.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Dark spots are disappearing!

    Overall Experience:

I live in Arizona in a beautiful location that is one mile high. I am a teacher and a cowgirl, which means I am out in the sun all day! At 70 years young, I have a lot of sun damage. Dark Spot Diminisher is quickly taking care of these spots!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Dear Dr. Gundry,

I am a 68 year old woman with freckles, sun damage and Actiinin Keratoses on my face and I don't like to wear much makeup. I tried many products over the years and wasted a lot of money. I have been using your "Dark Spot Diminisher" for about 3 weeks now and I am astonished at the result. My skin looks and feels different in a good way. The freckles, sun damage and even the AKs that have not been treated look better (smoother and lighter).

    Thank You!

    Kate

P.S. I'm going to try DSD on my husband's face.

I have definitely noticed a lightening of a birthmark on my hand that I have had forever! The only complaint is, it is going quite fast; perhaps I use too much.

Anyway, I would purchase this item again.

  • Amazing product!

    Overall Experience:

I am 47 years old from a five-generation farming family, so I've spent more than my share of time in the sun. I have always had mild freckles, but when I became pregnant at age 40, I developed some very dark "splotchiness" on my cheeks. I have tried many products and different concealers and foundations, but I really don't like wearing a lot of makeup.

I have been using this product for three weeks, and ALL of my dark splotches are much lighter. Even my freckles are lighter! The biggest surprise is that my skin is smoother and tighter than its been in years! I love the feeling of the product when I apply it to my skin, neck and upper chest. It absorbs right in, and the smell is very pleasant. I let it dry a few seconds then I apply my moisturizer (which I think works better now!).

I still have 1/2 a bottle remaining, and I have faithfully applied morning and night, so I am very happy with the quantity for the price. This product is impressive so far, and I can't wait to see the results in the weeks to come! Thank you Dr. Gundry!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Not embarrassed by my hands anymore

    Overall Experience:

First, I want to say thank you to Dr. Gundry and all the people who participated in the research and development of this product. Thank you!

When the dark spots started to develop, I couldn't say for sure, I just thought that they were part of getting older - something I couldn't do anything about, so I ignored them for the most part. Then, I began to notice dark spots developing at my temples and one in the middle of my forehead! Now I was paying attention and trying to cover these with makeup. As a rule, I don't wear makeup, but I've become quite the artist when it comes to covering and blending, so the spots are less noticeable on my face. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about the spots on my hands.

I have always said, "I have working hands" since I love to garden and do small repairs around my home I'm not a fan of hiring someone to do things that I'm capable of and enjoy doing myself. I think this could have participated in how my hands looked, and just accepted it as fact.

Over time the dark spots on my hands have multiplied and become darker. This was most embarrassing when my fiancé and I visited the jewelry store to pick out our wedding rings. And then, of course, the excitement of friends and family wanting to see the beautiful ring my husband gave to me. I can't express my embarrassment.

When I read about Dark Spot Diminisher, I have to admit I was skeptical. I've tried over the counter products with no results. So, I watched Dr. Gundry's video and ordered the product. I've been using the diminishing cream for a few weeks now, and I can't believe how much better my hands and face look! The spots are fading, my skin looks healthier and I'm very happy.

Again, I want to say thank you, Dr. Gundry, for your research and development of this product.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Dark spots lighter in ONE DAY!

    Overall Experience:

I have tried many dark spot lighteners, with little effect, so initially, I was hesitant to try this product, especially because it is a high-end product. Fears be gone! This product very noticeably lightened my dark spots on my forearms in only ONE DAY! I couldn't believe it! After one week of use, the spots were hardly noticeable. However, it did not do much for the dark spots on my face (puzzling). Use of a sunblock is necessary so as to not lose the improvements.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Dark Spot Diminisher

    Overall Experience:

I began using this product tongue in cheek. I never expected much in the way of results. After the first week, I noticed the dark marks getting lighter. I thought I was just being wishful. But I kept using the diminisher. Now, I know it's working because the dark marks on my face have been significantly lightened! Finally! A product that actually keeps its promise and works!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Dark Spot Diminisher. The spot I was concerned with was just beside my upper lip and was getting darker and more noticeable every day. It took less than a week before I noticed it was really working. Now I have to look hard to see it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

  • Dark Spot Diminisher

    Overall Experience:

So far I have been using it for approximately two months. Not two times a day, but at least one a day, and I am pleased with the results I've experienced. It is extremely light in texture, which is a positive. The scent is mild, which is also a positive.

    Thank you!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
