Noom worked for me!

By accident, I paid for a full six months of Noom. I wasn’t too happy about my mistake but went ahead and joined. I have no regrets. It was around the holidays so I knew I was going to struggle. The app counts your daily calories as you log your food, counts your daily steps and records your daily/weekly weight on a scale to see your progress. My personal coach was amazing - very professional, supportive and encouraging! I loved reading the daily articles that were very informative as well as humorous. I also had a support group with another encouraging coach who reached out to my group with some fun ideas to get us sharing our ups and downs. There was never any judgment. Let me say that again - there was never any judgment, just support and encouragement! His weekly sayings were always encouraging and most welcomed.

What I got most out of Noom was not to give up when you overdo it and to get moving! I wasn’t going for a quick weight loss. I wanted to get healthy and get more energy with strength. I had two knee replacements so I had no strength. After the six months mark, I was so sad to leave my group and coaches - I didn’t have the money to keep going. But I kept the app recording my meals...counting my steps and recorded my weight weekly.

Again, let me stress, I wasn’t in this for the quick weight loss - I learned so much more about why I eat and how to control and why moving is important. I am riding my stationary bike a half daily. I am able to now keep up with my daughters as we take walks. I have so much more energy and strength. Now for weight...I started at 198 and I’m now at 177. My clothes are huge on me - gone from 16 to a size 12.

Am I happy? You bet I am! I wish I had the vocabulary to share more of what I learned and applied. I’m truly truly satisfied. Thank you Noom!

30 pounds in 73 days!

I started Noom when I was feeling overweight, out of shape, and out of control of my physical health. Now 73 days and 30 pounds lighter and I feel great!

If you are ready to lose the weight and take care of yourself then this app can be very helpful. I think it helps with accountability. I still have about 40 more to go and when this first 16 weeks is up I'm pretty sure I will do it for the second 16 weeks.

My coach checks in with me weekly, my group is there daily, and I like logging my food and exercise, it just really helps me think about what I'm going to eat and log before I do.

I should mention I am also taking Contrave, a weight loss medication that reduces cravings. The combo of Noom and Contrave have helped me feel great again.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Lost 60 lbs and counting

Noom has helped me to see food and dieting in a new light. The psychological aspects work. I have learned a lot and I will reach my goal of at least 90 lbs lost. Because of what I have learned I will be able to keep it off. I feel so much better about myself.

Noom is the first holistic diet I have tried that makes the experience fun and interactive. I also love the daily articles that explain the why’s and the science behind it all. There is tons of information on a daily basis but given in a way and amount that’s not overwhelming. I enjoy my group and that I get a goal coach that keeps me accountable. Using the app is fun and user-friendly. Thank you!

Great experience

Noom is helping me keep my focus on the distance. The advice shared is also very helpful and helped me to make some good lifestyle (re)thinking. I particularly appreciate the weekly check with my advisor - I am happy with my result so I don't really take advantage of her support, but knowing that I have someone checking on me once a week helps me with the motivation. I also appreciate sharing with my group members - it's good to see that you are not alone and to exchange experience and best practice. Noom is providing good guidance, it's up to you to choose how to implement it.

Good for beginners

I wanted to write a review because many of these reviews don't seem that effective. Most people are complaining about getting charged after the free trial. That is how most online businesses work. It is the customer's fault if they forget to cancel before the trial ends. That is not a scam tactic for a company to do that. Some people didn’t even want to download the app. Which is silly because that is sort of the whole program!

About the program:

Noon walks you through step by step small goals as a way to reset your habits. In that aspect, it is pretty good. If you aren’t that familiar with choosing healthy foods and starting to exercise, I think this app is great.

Many beginners fall into exercise diet traps of starting our really intensely, in the beginning, only to fail after not being able to maintain that pace. This program tries to counter that by starting slow and easy and ramping up. You aren’t going to lose pounds a week here, and it’s not a "quick fix" mentality here. This seems to be about slow and permanent change over time (which is healthy!).

The jury is still out on the personal trainer because I haven’t been using the app long enough to review that thoroughly.

In terms of logging foods and exercise, it’s fairly easy. Although it would be nice to be able to log common meals instead of individual ingredients every time.

I like the idea of learning to categorize food vs. counting actual calories. A "green, yellow, and red" coding system is good for making healthy choices without knowing actual calories.

I think this program would be great for beginners looking to change their lifestyle habits. It may be a little too basic for athletes or people already familiar with exercise and eating healthy.

I am a semi-professional athlete looking to compete at a higher level and am familiar with exercise and diet control techniques. Overall this system is very solid so far. Whatever your take, this definitely not a scam or fraudulent program. Not liking something doesn’t make it a scam. It may not be for everyone, but it’s worth a shot if other systems haven’t worked for you. Just be mindful of the free trial dates. I marked it on my calendar three times with alarms on the days leading up to the trial period ending so I can bail if needed.

I hope this info helps some of you out!

It's working for me

I'm enjoying and succeeding with the program. In early January I weigh significantly less than I did going into Thanksgiving. Not my usual pattern. Which is the point, really. For me, the hardest part is remembering to keep my phone on me to count my steps. It would also help if the calorie calculator included "bottle" under the easy units for wine.

Noom is a game-changer for me!

I've had a lifelong struggle with weight and have been on Weight Watchers (on and off and on again and off again!) since I'm 12 years old (55 now!). In fact, I have a masters in exercise science, yet in the last 10 years I had some health problems and life issues and found myself tipping the scales at just over 300 lbs. CRAZY. I saw Noom on Facebook and looked into it further. The initial onboarding with the seeking the real "why" struck something deep within my psyche and it broke a psychological barrier that was keeping me stuck (I'm also a binge eater which has been so difficult to control). I started the program that moment (December 1st, 2018) and the last 4 weeks have been unbelievable. I have changed my habits, I have changed my "mind" (so to speak). I love checking in each morning on my tablet while having coffee and then again at night after dinner, which, by the way, gives my belly time to register that I'm full! Even though I know so much of this from my education, this program has done something that nothing before has accomplished successfully. I'm an absolute convert, and I can really see Noom taking me all the way.

So far...amazing!

I'm on Day 11 of my trial period and so far, love the results! I'm enjoying the daily coaching (reading assignments), love the daily weigh-in and meal logging. It all keeps me accountable and a whole new approach to weight loss than I've experienced before. I gave this app four stars only because the pedometer part of it doesn't seem to function properly. No problem, easy fix. I purchased my own pedometer and just log the steps walked that day into my Noom app. No problem.

For those on the edge, you absolutely should consider signing on to this program. The complainers don't seem to understand that this app is more psychological and requires accountability on the part of the participant. If you are expecting more, then there probably is no "diet program" out there that'll work for you anyway. In my opinion, this app is working for me, and I highly recommend it!

Help for your whole self

Accountability really helps
