Why Noom works for me

I needed accountability with flexibility in a weight loss program. I actually like Weight Watchers but couldn’t find a good location or really have the time to go to meetings. I was hooked by the promise of a personal coach, but what I actually love the most is the daily tasks of learning the science behind every facet of weight loss. The psychological and hormonal science is particularly interesting to me. I get a lot out of spending time on the app first thing in the morning - I look forward to it and it helps set the tone of my day. I also really like the group and group coach for more interaction and support. I am motivated to get my steps in to get that checked off and of course the logging of food for the day. I’m actually a little concerned about what to do when I am done losing weight (hopefully by the end of this month).

I’ve tried almost every diet imaginable...

Noom is different in that you don’t really start out with a strict plan. They help you recognize some of the problems we have with the way we think (about food, diets, exercise, etc.). It’s the missing piece for me. I think it’s definitely worth a try, if you've tried everything else.

Noon is for me. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm on my way.

I like Noon because it's easy to log whatever I eat and get the calories for it. I like the idea the foods are listed as green, yellow and red - I can see what I'm doing wrong and change it. I like the idea I can weigh every day and log it. I look forward to getting information of some form every day. It's good to have a coach who cares and takes an interest in how I'm doing. I have recommended noon to others. I'm excited about the whole program. It's so easy for me. I like reading what everyone posts.

Noom is just what I needed...

I was skeptical when I signed up for the trial, but this is an excellent approach to losing the weight and keeping it off. It is about the psychology behind what makes us eat the way we do, and it offers simple and easy-to-understand "tricks" to deal with it. I now think about food very differently and feel much more in control. It is not a plan that you need to be on forever; once you learn how to get to the goals you want, you are good to go. Some people "complain" about the price, but I think it is so worth it...

Perfect for me

Good program

I joined Noom five weeks ago when my doctor told me I had high cholesterol. I wasn’t ready to start eating healthy due to the holidays but read the articles and chatted with the coaches. I am finally ready to eat better and become healthier - I love that the app will help me be accountable.

Noom is a fun interactive program that teaches you about the psychology relative to why you eat what you eat. At times the info can be a bit overwhelming, but you can take a break from reading and still catch up!

Effective, helpful, and thorough system

I love this app. I love that it counts my calories, so I stay in budget and that it shows me which color categories I’m eating in which proportions so I am mindful of balanced eating. I also love the user-friendly aspect of the app. It’s very easy to navigate. The course information is extremely interesting and enlightening and humorous too. Overall it’s a great experience, and if someone is committed and willing to do the steps such as tracking, it will work.

Love the weight management program, but app is a bit glitchy

Since I created computer-based training programs for the military before I retired, I'm probably harder to please than the average Noom client. I may be a bit picky, but I experienced some minor frustrations with the app. When I try to do something and the app doesn't respond as expected, TWICE, I give up and move on to the next task. There were a couple of times that I thought the daily reading stuff was asking me to share something with my group, but when I hit the next button (whatever it happened to be labeled that day), it would take me on to the next numbered task. Ah well, this isn't life-or-death stuff (like military training), so I just moved on. Sorry, I never made a note of exactly where I was experiencing these problems - but I didn't know I'd be reviewing the app.

So there you have it. I'm very happy with the actual content of the program and Noom's whole philosophy towards weight management. I do like having the one-on-one coach (I think you call it a goal specialist), and the idea of a group chat is excellent, although I find your group chat environment is limiting - don't seem to be able to have private chats with anyone in the group; it doesn't even appear that the group leader has that ability.

Something I do love about the app is logging food and having a list of common foods other people have already logged available to choose from. But I'm left wondering what happens when I add something that's not already on the list? I get a message saying "thanks for improving Noom," or some such thing, and I'm left with the impression that I'll be notified when my food has been reviewed and added to the list - I've logged several items and never been notified about anything?

Noom is a great program

What was appealing about Noom to me is that it is a healthy lifestyle change for the long haul. I have no interest in fad diets that don't work in the long run. For me, having a coach and being accountable is a winning combination. I now think carefully about what I eat, and have ramped up my exercise. I have lost over 9 lbs in 8 weeks, and am very happy with the results.
