Snow Teeth Whitening Review

By Lydia Noyes

Updated on: Jun 24, 2020

Snow is an oral care company that sells at-home whitening kits. Both the original and wireless kit utilize LED technology to whiten your teeth without triggering sensitivity issues or other oral care problems.

The company claims to save you time and money compared to professional whitening treatments for the same quality of results. In this review, we explore the Snow Teeth Whitening kit and outline the research into its effectiveness, to help you decide if it is right for you.

How to Use It

Snow offers two models of teeth whitening devices, one wireless and one that requires an outlet. Both claim to whiten your teeth within three weeks after daily treatments.

Home whitening treatments only work for certain types of stains. “This at-home method is the most effective on teeth stained by coffee, wines, or food,” shares Dr. Mike Golpa, dentist and CEO of the G4byGolpa dental implant centers. “It won’t be that useful on teeth yellowing due to aging or naturally yellow dentin.”

To use, it’s best to brush your teeth before beginning. Then, apply the whitening serum through the brush applicator to your teeth, similar to how you would paint a picket fence. After, you’ll put in your mouthpiece and turn it on to start the whitening session.

You can whiten your teeth up to twice a day for 30 minutes per session if you want faster results. Once finished, rinse your mouth and the mouthpiece with warm water. You can eat and drink within an hour of finishing.

If you notice any sensitivity during treatment, take a break for a few days before trying again. The whitening wands should be stored in the fridge between use so that they can keep their potency.

Product Line

Original Teeth Whitening Kit ($149)
This whitening kit includes enough serum for 75 whitening treatments. You’ll receive a mouthpiece with LED accelerating technology that includes adaptors for USB, micro USB, and apple charging ports. Also included are three original strength whitening serum wands, one extra-strength whitening serum, and a teeth whitening progress tracker.

Wireless Teeth Whitening Kit ($299)
This kit works like the original, except that it features wireless charging, is Bluetooth-enabled, and water-resistant (you can use it in the shower). Each purchase also includes an anti-aging lip balm, travel case, three original whitening wands, one extra-strength wand, and one desensitizing serum for preventing sensitive teeth issues.

Desensitizing Serum ($25 for Two Vials)
This serum can be used as an optional treatment for those who have sensitive teeth. It will purportedly work to strengthen tooth enamel, reduce sensitivity, and re-mineralize your teeth. You can apply it 15 minutes before a whitening session or immediately after.

Standard Serum ($29 for Two-pack or $24.65 with Auto-Ship)
Each vial contains between 6–10% strength hydrogen peroxide.

Extra Strength Serum: $29 ($24.65 with Auto-Ship)
Each wand is twice the size and strength of the original wands at 12–18% concentration hydrogen peroxide.

Is There Evidence for Its Effectiveness?

Both the Original and Extra Strength wands contain the same ingredients; the primary difference is their hydrogen peroxide concentration.

Hydrogen peroxide is a common teeth whitening ingredient, and the concentration can vary considerably by product. However, the research indicates that less might be better with this compound, at least from a safety standpoint.

One study looked at the effects of concentrations of 10, 20, and 30 percent on human teeth and found that higher concentrations kept on teeth longer caused more enamel damage. Low concentration treatments used for short time periods produced the least damage, but also the most subtle results.

Another study collaborated these results by finding that a 5% concentration was as effective as 25%, but you had to complete the treatment 12 times to get the same results. Keep in mind that tooth sensitivity is a common side effect of using hydrogen peroxide, as enamel damage can expose your tooth roots and make them more susceptible to hot or cold temperatures.

In short, hydrogen peroxide shows real promise for whitening your teeth, but high concentrations come with a risk for tooth health. It’s better to stick to a lower concentration and perform more frequent treatments if you want to maximize both your safety and results.

Once you start using the treatment, make sure you never leave the serum on your teeth for longer than the recommended 30 minutes, and its best to start with the original serum before trying the extra-strength version.

The other active ingredient is carbamide peroxide. This whitening compound is known for being slightly more slow acting. Rather than delivering results within 30 minutes, you can expect them to develop over 6 hours. For this reason, you might want to use Snow Teeth whiteners before bed so that the serum can work overnight.

You can expect both of these compounds to whiten your teeth at the appropriate concentrations. Shares Dr. Golpa, “A product with 30% carbamide peroxide is equivalent to 10% hydrogen peroxide. Both substances can give you great effects.”

The other major component of this whitening kit is the LED lighting. Snow claims it will work to accelerate the whitening process by activating the gel.

However, clinical evidence indicates otherwise. A 2014 study found that using a light activator during a tooth whitening treatment had no impact on the overall results compared to using the serum alone.

From a safety standpoint, Snow claims that its LED wavelengths can’t cause any harm to your mouth or body and won’t result in any negative side effects and that it is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding moms.

Each of these products operates in much the same way. You apply a specialized gel to an included mouthguard and dose your mouth with LED light for a set time.

You should notice whitening results within a few treatment sessions, and the results should last so long as you continue the treatment once every two weeks or so.

What differs between them are the active ingredients, as Snow and AuraGlow both rely on peroxides. HiSmile instead utilizes compounds that are clinically proven to promote whitening—possibly as well as peroxide—but with a lower risk of sensitivity or enamel damage.

This might make HiSmile the best choice for those concerned about their teeth, though you’ll pay almost three times as much per whitening treatment.

If you’re committed to peroxide, it’s best to decide how often you plan to whiten your teeth. The original Snow kit offers the best value per treatment, but not everyone wants to complete 75 whitening sessions.

If your goals are more modest or you want to try teeth whitening without committing to an expensive setup, then you’ll save money with AuraGlow instead.

Return Policy

Snow Teeth Whitening Kits come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The refund policy covers both used and unused products, minus the shipping cost. Past the 30-day return window, all returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

The Bottom Line

Snow teeth whitening products can be a cost-effective way to whiten your teeth at home if you plan to perform dozens of treatments.

However, a lot of the upfront cost is related to the LED mouthpiece, and there’s minimal evidence that LED light makes any difference for the tooth whitening process.

Lastly, some research indicates that professional whitening services from your dentist can strengthen your enamel, while home kits like Snow can weaken it and lead to mineral losses.

It’s easy to overuse home whitening kits with hydrogen peroxide, so we recommend talking with your dentist before committing to dozens of rounds of treatments from this brand.

Money grab, you can buy this stuff on Ali Express for $15.00 with free shipping!

By James B., Tasmania, Australia, Verified Reviewer

This company is taking everyone for a ride! I'm so angry I purchased this expensive piece of kit, when I was alerted by a friend that I can buy the exact same kit on Ali Express for $15.00 + Free Shipping.

Snow Teeth Whitening doesn't even work! I have used it now for over 2 months and my teeth still look the same, they promise that it will remove coffee stains and wine stains. This is a total lie. They just use photoshopped teeth or models and paid influencers with already white teeth to trick us. SCAM.

Don't get ripped off and pay out of your nose for this expensive crap.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

SCAM!

By Elizabeth C., Las Vegas, NV, Verified Reviewer

I agree with all the other 1-star reviews. I received my wireless whitening kit, which is advertised that it has a 5-year guarantee. Within a month it quit lighting up so is useless. I’ve tried to contact the company but they do not respond. Bunch of thieves as far as I am concerned. I only wanted a new unit, not the money back. They do have a good marketing person who makes you believe in them. DO NOT BUY!

Disappointed

By Michael S., Westlake, OH, Verified Reviewer

Never got the second kit. Also, the one I received shorts out at times. Ripped off. Might be a good product but I myself am disappointed in the results, and my dentist said he could do as well or better for the same price.

Over-priced, don't waste your money!

By Steve T., Dallas, TX, Verified Reviewer

My dentist laughed when I showed him the kit from Snow. He stated that there is no proof that the LED light makes any difference. And make sure your READ their return policy. There isn't any.

They use the word "guarantee," but the guarantee does not give you your money back.

Also, take a good look at the before and after pictures. The color of the phot's look difference, as if someone retouched the picture.

Poor customer service, or non existent customer service

By Andy R., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

Hi, two weeks ago I purchased this whitening system, promptly received receipts and tracking information.

However, the tracking link sent does not work and I have since tried every way of contacting them for an answer as to where my product is...

I’ve tried their Twitter, Facebook, website contact form, email and even the telephone (international dial) and had nothing back, no response in any way, shape, or form.

I waited the two days it suggested for the tracking to become live for those of you who think I’m impatient. Not the level of service you would expect from a "premium brand." Certainly will think twice about purchasing anything from them again...

Fraudulent product and service

By Annie S., California, Verified Reviewer

I bought my self-sanitizing whitening system and started using it at the beginning of May. After only one week of use, a solid red light came on. After I sent pictures and requested videos, the company had no response whatsoever. It's a $300+ system. The company doesn't stand behind their product. You're not guaranteed for a product that you paid so much money for...

Never buy Snow Wireless - throw money to the trash

By Linette C., College Point, Queens, NY, Verified Reviewer

No, no, no. Throw your $300 to the trash.

Run around with CS at Snow regarding new wireless WATERPROOF as advertised. CS number provided does not work.

Blue light stopped working after 3 days, then red light stopped working one week later. Now the top piece mysteriously fell off and underneath RUST, red RUST on both sides! Under front panel. I have pictures.

Received May 22, 2019 - today is June 10, 2019. Rust found in two places under the front plate (have pictures).

Used three times, and not in the shower ever - followed directions give! RUST AFTER 3 days? 1000% not happy. Scam. Yes, an unethical business doesn’t stand behind their "5" year warranty.

Snow CS number does not work either. Eleven emails, run around, asking me the same questions over and over again. Asked me now to re-provide my credit card number and code! And I am just supposed to hand THAT OVER TO THEM? Now?

Multiple complaints on the iPhone app store and Snow Facebook page - the angry comments have been hidden by SNOW - look for yourselves please. Contacted BBB on June 8, 2019. Filing a formal complaint.

BUYER BEWARE! Poor product, even worse customer service.

By Lori N., South Carolina, Verified Reviewer

I honestly can't believe how badly I was fooled by this company...their website and testimonials were so impressive! I used the system for 30 days and it barely worked at all. I have sent multiple emails, received one automated return message and now I can't seem to get a response back. Even worse, when you call the main customer service phone line, you receive an application error...so my thoughts are this product is nothing short of a SCAM! I have never experienced such horrible (NON-EXISTENT) customer service. I have completely wasted my money and now they are making me waste my time. I will be reporting them to the BBB for what it's worth. DO NOT PURCHASE!

I'd give it zero stars if it would let me

By April W., Hagerstown, MD, Verified Reviewer

I used my kit faithfully every day for 30 minutes and had no difference in the color of my teeth. I can't begin to explain how disappointed I am. How these stars can get on there and say that it works is beyond my comprehension. And the before and after photos are clearly photoshopped! What a joke!

Save your money - don't ruin your teeth!

By Darci A., Portland, OR, Verified Reviewer

This shrunk my gums or caused holes in my teeth, not sure which happened but I sent the company pics and they didn’t care. It takes them forever to get back to you and then they told me I was past the 90-day return policy. It’s ludicrous that if a product that will ruin your health isn’t allowed to be returned. So day 91 my teeth fall out and Snow is like "Oh well!" Not great customer service. Avoid the hassle. I know other companies that stand behind their product 100% and truly mean it. Don’t buy this!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Same as all the rest

By S J., Wales, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I have tried various teeth whitening products. None of them work. Same as this one.

Just another scam to get people's money. Don't be fooled by the before and after pics.

It does not work.
