Effective but expensive

By Dorothy N., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I have tried a few diets in my time and always found it difficult to stay on track. Noom connects you with a personal coach and a group which seems to cover my questions and need for support. The calorie counter is good for keeping me on track and I have lost more weight than any other methods I have tried. I like the psychology and it keeps me interested and understanding what may help or when the scales don’t go to plan. The downside is the cost, and the coach seems to check in twice a week so you don’t get an instant reply. It’s also mainly US based so there is a time gap.

Noom is a great value!

By Caroleen K., Virginia, Verified Reviewer

Noom has helped me to stay on track with my diet. The daily accountability is just what I needed to keep me focused on reaching my goals. The library of foods is extensive and you can easily locate the calorie count for items on your personal menu choices. The daily dose of diet information and medical studies helps to explain why plateaus happen and gives helpful suggestions to overcome discouragement.

Noom weight loss app

By Christina D., Indiana, Verified Reviewer

I like the app because I've been eating more regularly and counting calories as a result of using it daily. It's also very convenient. I don't care for the mentor piece because it's just not the help I prefer to have. I would rather talk to someone versus delayed texting.

I love this program

By Audrey K., France, Verified Reviewer

This program suits me perfectly! Intelligent yet fun learning, backed up by hands-on tasks and articles plus a "private" coach! YESSS! The only "negative" thing is the lack of weights and measuring in grams and liters. I recommend this to every person serious about changing their eating behavior.

New approaches to healthy lifestyles

By Kristin M., Des Moines, IA, Verified Reviewer

I have tried almost every weight loss plan. I've had huge success, almost always followed by spectacular failure once the program is done.

Noon feels different. The focus is on changes for a lifetime. The emphasis on mental health and understanding how your body and hormones are working had been very illuminating. Challenging times are not in my head. They are biologically motivated in many ways, but there are strategies to work through them.

I look at food and my choices in a different way. I feel in control, which is so powerful. I like the idea of food density choices. And it is working without feeling like work.

My criticism would be the food database. It is not as thorough as others I have used, so it can be frustrating to scan a food and have it not be there. There is not a way to add a food myself.

Easy to use

By Kathy A., Wisconsin, Verified Reviewer

I like Noom, it's pretty easy to use. I have a hard time sticking with diets in the past. My most success has always been completely cutting carbs, which is not realistic.

I like the fact that I eat what I want and easily see how many calories I have left for the day.

I hope my subliminal mind is storing all the info I read daily.

Down about 10 pounds, which is halfway to my current goal.

Easy and motivation with good accountability

By Karen M., Morocco, Verified Reviewer

I am enjoying the app of Noom and in particular the food log. While tedious sometimes, it is filled with most of the foods you eat and lends a high degree of accountability. I particularly like seeing foods grouped into colors. It helps me to understand what I am eating that might be the problem. The individual counseling leaves a lot to be desired, so if you are looking for that, I would not recommend it. The group discussions are great if you want to be involved in them, although they seem to center around how much exercise each person did in a day. Boring.

Good

By Denise M., Norfolk, VA, Verified Reviewer

Every aspect of this app has been amazing except the group portion, and after the group portion kicked in, the private coach portion.

The first two weeks Hanna was checking in every day or at least every other. I find the group coach and or post to be old and repeated. With the first two weeks being the honeymoon stage it’s important to have a personal coach, but those are the easy weeks. It’s after that, that’s it’s vital to have more support. The group doesn’t allow for that one-on-one personal touch.

I have been on the program for five weeks and have lost ten pounds. I have 15 more to go. I am excited to reach my goal and will continue to learn as I go.

Keeps you honest and a good teacher

By Chandra A., Fort Lauderdale, FL, Verified Reviewer

I’m pretty knowledgeable about food and fitness and eat pretty healthy. Noom holds me accountable by making me track all that I eat while teaching me about my habits and choices. It helps me make better choices. I am not a big fan of the group and coaching component. I get it in theory, but it does not work for me in practice. I find the coaching to be superficial. I’m not sure of its purpose and don’t feel the coach really looks at my data. I don’t have time for the group support component. I don’t need another social network.

A great experience

By Noemi F., Italy, Verified Reviewer

Noom is not just an app to lose weight, it’s an experience!

It provides a lot of information that helps you make the right choice of what food to eat, mindful of what’s good for your health and your mind.

Self-esteem and awareness are what you gain, weight is what you lose.

The main purpose is not starving, it’s learning what’s good for you without giving up the occasional treat.

And for those times in which you slip? You have a great coach and a great support group to help you, with whom to share your wins and your failures.

Noom is good for you!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Weight loss goals

By Frankie S., United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

I started Noom after Christmas at a whopping 94.5 kg on a 168 cm frame. Fatty boom batty comes to mind. In 5 weeks, I've dropped 6.4 kg and already feel better. Still have 27.6 kg to goal weight, but I'm on the right side of it now.

Noom has helpful tips and articles that are scientifically and psychologically supported that help you understand why you overeat, why weight is hard to lose but also how to change your thought patterns and sabotaging behaviors. There is a personal coach, a forum that has a social media feel to it and daily checklists like weighing yourself every day and logging your meals. These last two I find the most helpful and easy. Most food is already logged so you can pick from a list that tells you the calories and nutritional breakdown.

The personal coach helps you set goals for the week with a bit of encouragement. When you have to report back to a "person," you tend to work harder at achieving a goal.

Noom is realistic weight loss. No food is off-limits, which is nice since I have been on every diet in the world and yo-yo dieted my whole life, never keeping it off. It always creeps back on usually in response to stress and major life changes.

I think the cost is a bit high as a monthly subscription. If they could reduce the cost that would be helpful. I've paid the £115 until September, but I will not renew after that if I haven't lost the weight or the price doesn't come down. But as a one-off payment with this kind of support, the weight is coming off and for me, that's worth it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
