Brandon is fantastic!

By Kenneth B., Noblesville, IN, Verified Reviewer

From the beginning, NewDay, specifically Brandon, was top-notch. I'd dealt with American Financial Network and couldn't even get a return call. Each time I called Brandon, he answered or returned my call. Very professional. He worked our refi to our satisfaction, going above and beyond for us. We are very satisfied customers, and NewDay is Blessed to have an employee like Brandon.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Job well done, but...

By John M., Port St Lucie, FL, Verified Reviewer

I’m expressing my thanks to Nick S. He was very patient with me. The refi process was easy enough. My chief complaint would be the disbursement method. We received paper checks that needed to be mailed, no postage paid, minor out of pocket. Why not do it electronically, it’s faster, cheaper, and most deposits that are done before 3 post that same day. Now I have to wait 10 days or more to get the difference back. Sure wish NewDay would get on board with tech.

Our Loan officer was Zach Emswiller

By Timothy K., California, Verified Reviewer

Zach and NewDay did an outstanding job handling our refinance from start to finish. We really appreciated Zach's outstanding communication skills throughout the enter process. My wife and I were very nervous and not sure if a refinance was the right move for us. NewDay and Zach helped along the whole way. Outstanding job! Thank you for your support and excellent service.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Disappointed

By Rayford M., North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

From the beginning, we were told we would close 11/13/19. This time came and at the last minute we're told we needed more documents and then we will close. This time came and then the last minute we needed more documents then we could close. This happened four or five times. When we finally closed later December we furnished pay off for several items. When checks were issued they were wrong. It is now January 7th and still hadn't been resolved.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

What a terrible experience!

By Staci N., Cincinnati, OH, Verified Reviewer

The entire process with NewDay was terrible! Initially, we were told it would take about 30 days to close which turned into almost 90 days. Communication was lacking throughout the entire process. Emails and phone calls would go days or even a week with no return response and we had to constantly reach out to get information. We were told everything was in order multiple times and ready to close and then they would come back to us with something else they needed. Many times we were told one thing and then it was found to be inaccurate. I would not go through this process again with this company. It was very stressful, to say the least.

We were pleased!

By Peter Pochowski, Milwaukee, WI, Verified Reviewer

From the start, our Account Manager Sarah Gabrielle Mandel was outstanding. She understood that this was a complicated matter with many legal issues to address and she took the appropriate amount of time to ensure we understood every page of the file. My wife and I never felt rushed, and she answered our many questions with patience and professionalism. On the two occasions that we called her back with questions, she was again, patient and professional. I cannot think of a single unresolved issue we had with her, and I would strongly encourage my friends and fellow vets to ask for her. She is a real credit to your organization. She would have been a good soldier!

Veterans be aware, do NOT use!

By Michael E., Idaho, Verified Reviewer

I was contacted by this company and given the best salesman pitch ever. Once asking what are minimum credit required for a VA loan, I was told that they've been known to Veterans financed at 580 and 590 Fico scores. Now given the fact that I've been paying rent at $1150 a month for 12 months, paid off two big loans totaling around $7k to $8k. This left me with only a few items left on my report - a truck loan at $895 a month and a car loan at $556 a month.

I had planned on paying off my Capital One card as well as a loan that was $215 a month and was going to pay off all additional small things on my report. Again this would leave me with the car and truck totaling $1451.00 a month in bills. Yet with a $4600 a month income and VA loans allowing 41% debt to income ratio, with my income this allowed $1879.85. As you can see, I well under that, and I only received a VA qualification for a $105k. Very sad to say the least.

Don't waste your time. I recommend you contact Veterans First Mortgage; they do understand Veterans and will give you a fare more reasonable qualification.

NewDay USA

By Ronnie A., Cullman, AL, Verified Reviewer

We were very pleased with NewDay USA. The process was so much simpler to refi through them than any one else we talked to.

Everyone we dealt with was courteous and so willing to help with our needs. The refi process from start to finish took less than a month and we received our checks within a few days of closing (and they came to us to close!). We have recommended friends of ours that served in the military to contact NewDay for their refi needs.

The best experience ever buying a home

By Jerry P., Belton, MO, Verified Reviewer

I have purchased a lot of houses in my 71 years of moving around, and I have to say that working with Destinee at NewDay was the best ever bar none!

First she qualified us while we were on the phone and set some prices we could purchase a home and worked with me to not give the realtor what we were approved for but what we wanted to spend.

This brings me to our realtor that Destinee found for us, Christie, was the absolute best choice she could have picked. I do not know what the qualifications she had for a realtor, but Christie was totally awesome, to say the least. She never showed us anything we had not specified or ask to see, and she stayed within our price range and didn't do what normal realtors do of showing you houses out of your range. Christie was dedicated to making sure we were taken care of and never left us in the dark about anything. She was upfront about everything, and she kept her word with all our dealings. She was so good that the house we finally chose was a "for sale by owner" and the owner did not want to deal with a realtor and we made sure that Christie got her commission for all she did for us. That is how good she was for and to us.

I have nothing but greatness to say about our whole experience with NewDay and all the people we dealt with. Everyone was extremely helpful and always thanked me for my service.

As I stated in the beginning, this was absolutely the most pleasurable "buying a house" that I have ever done. All the way from the loan to the closing.

Also, I love the online signing of documents. This was a first for me, and it was awesome as well.

I could go on, but then you would think I am just blowing smoke, but please know the whole experience was totally awesome for the normal pain of buying a home. BOA took me three months to buy a home and a LOT of headaches and hassles.

THANK YOU ALL for all you did to help us find a new home so we can move out of the combat area of Kansas City Kansas!

Unhappy with close process

By Scott M., Greenville, SC, Verified Reviewer

After closing, we were given a series of checks to pay off creditor balances that had already been paid off at least 30 days earlier. In fact, one requirement was that we send a copy of the payoff for our Tempurpedic mattress, which we did. Lo and behold, we received a check to pay off the mattress after we had already done so and provided proof. When we asked Jae White to reissue a check payable to us for accounts that were already paid in full, we were told that they could not do this and it was our responsibility to send the checks to creditors and wait for a refund. This is unacceptable, and I feel it is ridiculous that we have to deal with creditors to wait for refunds when we sent proof the balances were paid, and we were never advised that NewDayUSA were paying off balances that were no longer there at closing.

Not a good decision to go with NewDay USA

By RJ K., North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

NewDay sells your loans folks! Better read the fine print! They sold mine to a po-dunk outfit called Freedom Mortgage and they are a DISASTER! Just refinanced again in order not to deal with this incompetent mortgage company. Is NewDay a good refi for Vets? Heck NO! The current CEO is more about telling you how many years of service he has in his commercials rather than keep mortgages in-house for all vets. Keep in mind that they have been sued as well in the past by a veteran organization! It's a swindle. Warmest regards, Retired Commander.

Company Response from NewDay USA

Thank you for reaching out to us. A servicing transfer is a common practice in the mortgage industry, and does not affect the terms and conditions of your loan. This practice makes it possible for us to serve more Veteran families. We are sorry to hear of your poor experience with Freedom, and wish you the best moving forward.

The VA loan process with NewDay is the best I have ever had, refinancing a mortgage.

By Haywood B., Swansea, SC, Verified Reviewer

Very helpful

By David L., Louisiana, Verified Reviewer

After calling for info on the NewDay, I was greeted by Cole Krajeski who explained in detail what my options and approximate costs for a loan to pay off credit card debt would be. The whole ordeal from the start was very simple and explained in a matter even I could understand, which in itself is amazing, as I'm not too quick to grasp things at my age. Cole was very patient and professional and is very easy to talk to. I thank him and everyone else that moved this process through so quickly and smoothly, a truly great experience.

Job well done!

By Kenneth H., Tigard, OR, Verified Reviewer

Upon calling for a refinance we started with a very nice young man. He was very polite. My wife and I are older folks, one 183 and 176. I mention that because sometimes he would have to explain again, I would say he had great patience with us. We had dealt with you previously and found we had the same type person, therefore, we went with you folks again. The only thing we noticed this time there was longer waits from the young man, in fact, we had to call him more than once. My wife and I thought he might be new. I do have to say, my wife is a natural worrier. So when we're waiting on news it was concerning her. All in all, we were very pleased with our service with you folks. Thank you so much.

Careful

By Richard G., Indianapolis, IN, Verified Reviewer

Probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.

I have less than perfect credit so my options were limited, I get that, but the amount of leg work and lack of communication is horrific! Title company couldn’t find a previous mortgage release I had to hunt it down. Went to that back four times to get the documents they wanted and each time it was "that’s not exactly what we need" but it was what they asked for...days for a callback, it’s my loan, keep me in the loop!

Got a call on Thursday afternoon, all good! We can close as soon as tomorrow night! Then no call until Sunday then it was oh, we need this...oh and I signed the closing discloser that Thursday.

A lot of mishandling and just bad business. Empty promises and dates they had no meaning of getting to.

Never felt like I was being taken care of.

Say no to NewDay USA!

By Harold S., Marine City, MI, Verified Reviewer

Poor people skills. Rude and short. Process was broken and sloppy. Fired first rep. Second rep didn’t really understand why that was important. Finished because of all the emotional investment. Rates went lower, but we did not benefit. Vets are conned into believing that another greedy vet has their best interest.

Poor communication

By Stephen R., Sarasota, FL, Verified Reviewer

I am very happy with the terms of my new mortgage. My interaction with the person responsible for guiding me through the process was not very pleasant. The fact that I was applying for a VA loan should have made it obvious that I would not be familiar with the process since we only get to do it once. My contact person with NewDay USA was demeaning and arrogant. I was not given clear instructions until after I had completed a task in the way that it made sense to me, only to be told after that it was incorrect. Further, a sense of distrust was implied.

In my initial contact, I presented a list of debts that I wanted to consolidate. The largest one was not included in the process until I discovered it after the loan amount and payments were already quoted.

I also requested an additional $3000 to be disbursed to me at closing which was completely omitted. By the time I discovered it I was so frustrated that I just let it go.

After my closing, I had no idea what was next in the process so I asked. I was told my loan would now be funded. I still had no idea what that process entailed. No one had asked for my banking information to do a direct deposit and I assumed funds would go to my account so that I could pay my debts. So I had to ask again and it was explained that individual checks for each payoff would be overnighted to me and I would mail them. I waited 3 days for my overnight package to be delivered.

The point is, communication was very poor. It felt like my contact was too busy to spend to much time keeping me updated or answering my questions. Using email for this entire process is ludicrous. I could spend all day writing an email that would contain the same information that a 5-minute phone call could accomplish.

The young man that handled my process may be doing exactly what he was trained to do. If he was, you should rethink your training.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Company Response from NewDay USA

Process longer than what is promised

By Jorge P., Ontario, CA, Verified Reviewer

I started the refinance prices in July 2019 and ended in late September?

I don’t believe that is acceptable and a lot more should have and could have been done to avoid putting an undue burden on the family.

Although I understand there are special circumstances my loan was placed on hold for a bit and my closing date of the end of August 2019 got pushed to a month later; almost as if you set mine aside to work on someone else who may have been smooth sailing.

Kevin was great but at times when I expressed concern he’d turned the issue back at me, i.e. when I express concern about the cash out being less than we expected, he would say, and I’m paraphrasing, I didn’t promise you that, remember...well, no, I don’t remember because it’s been a bit since we had talked.

Again, happy and grateful you worked with me but felt a lot of times you thought you were doing me a favor. I had over $200k in equity, it’s my equity, not yours, so actually my business is doing you the favor.

Just keep in mind I’m the customer and you are providing the service, so don’t try and make me feel like I’m stuck with you or that you are doing us a favor.

Overall, I give you guys a 7.5 on a scale of 10.

Customer service and time could have been better.

Veteran home owner

By Jimmie A., Jacksonville, FL, Verified Reviewer

I called about an ad I saw about NewDay. The upper echelon appeared to be all veterans. I figured if the company was being run by veterans the veterans could rely on this company to take good care of their clients, namely veterans. At first, it appeared my agent was going a little too fast, but after talking with him I realized that he was there for me every step of the way. If I didn't know how to do the things he asked me to do on my computer, he walked me through everything to get my refi completed. We did have a few hiccups with a couple of third party companies that were hired to do things to facilitate completing our loan. As soon as I noticed them I called my agent and he worked through them in a very timely manner. I am completely satisfied with my experience from beginning to end and I would highly recommend NewDay USA to everyone I know who is looking for financial help.

VA refinance. Excellent communication, smooth process.

Kevin Lasek was a pleasure to work with. He was readily available and honestly answered all the questions and concerns I had.

Poor Veteran/Customer Service

By Keith Z., Tampa, FL, Verified Reviewer

Always needed one more thing...process delayed and interest rate lock expired. Agent had to re-lock rate but would not get new rate even after Feds lowered interest rates another 1/4%, closed on Saturday, the 23rd of November, Agent stated loan will fund on Friday, the 29th of November and consolidation checks will be delivered Saturday, the 30th of November by overnight carrier. Monday, December 2nd has come and gone with no overnight delivery. Called agent and asked for the name of the carrier and tracking number but he was unable to provide and can not confirm if anything had even shipped out. So still waiting...without any information. And this was a VA Refinance with significant cost and funding fees. Big mistake!
