Debit without confirmation

By Phindile N., South Africa, Verified Reviewer

I downloaded the app and did the so-called trial. I couldn't follow up much with the trial. I was never sent any email asking if I'd like to continue with the subscription, however, they just debited money without my consent. Trying to get a refund is a nightmare because there is no number you can call, only emails. All the numbers provided are not working. This is a scam. The app is slow. When I want to redownload, it can't download. Taking money from people without confirming with them. Worse is that's my child's school fees. I should have been warned.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Real game changer

By Nancy J., Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

This app/program really helps you change your eating and exercise choices. I love how deep into the psychology it goes and how helpful the counselors are.

And it’s research-based and entertaining, making me want to do my ten minutes a day of learning.

Noom is a game-changer for me!

By Valerie P., Boynton Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

I've had a lifelong struggle with weight and have been on Weight Watchers (on and off and on again and off again!) since I'm 12 years old (55 now!). In fact, I have a masters in exercise science, yet in the last 10 years I had some health problems and life issues and found myself tipping the scales at just over 300 lbs. CRAZY. I saw Noom on Facebook and looked into it further. The initial onboarding with the seeking the real "why" struck something deep within my psyche and it broke a psychological barrier that was keeping me stuck (I'm also a binge eater which has been so difficult to control). I started the program that moment (December 1st, 2018) and the last 4 weeks have been unbelievable. I have changed my habits, I have changed my "mind" (so to speak). I love checking in each morning on my tablet while having coffee and then again at night after dinner, which, by the way, gives my belly time to register that I'm full! Even though I know so much of this from my education, this program has done something that nothing before has accomplished successfully. I'm an absolute convert, and I can really see Noom taking me all the way.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really like Noom!

By Lisa H., Madera, CA, Verified Reviewer

I'm really getting a lot from Noom in regards to taking my weight off. I want to lose a total of about 60 pounds. With this program, it feels doable. The timely information provided always seems to be just what I need at exactly the right time. It is very helpful to me that I get all kinds of information in regards to what I am going through as I move through this program. For the most part, I know half of the information as I've tried to lose weight many times. The other half of it I didn't know or I forgot hearing it. To know the reasons why I eat or can't seem to eat healthily, are big motivators to changing my attitudes about eating.

I like interacting with others that I don't already know in regards to our weight loss journeys. I'm not a person who would want to meet up once a week to discuss losing weight. I have local buddies who will exercise with me as I increase my exercise overall by doing Noom. I am currently in my 7th week of Noom.

If you really want to change the way you eat and lose weight permanently on a plan you can do for the rest of your life, look into Noom.

Not at all what I expected

By Joanne O., New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I expected that a "custom program" was going to give me a meal plan and do more than help me count my steps each day.

I am a busy professional, with no time to join in on mindless chatter. All too soon, I became disenchanted, stopped counting meals, and endless logging.

Perhaps it's me, but I thought this program was different than it actually played out to be.

It's working for me

By Debbie C., Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I'm enjoying and succeeding with the program. In early January I weigh significantly less than I did going into Thanksgiving. Not my usual pattern. Which is the point, really. For me, the hardest part is remembering to keep my phone on me to count my steps. It would also help if the calorie calculator included "bottle" under the easy units for wine.

Set up to deny you help if you want to cancel

By Cynthia B., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for the trial and then a family situation came up in my life that took all my energy and time. I was one day over the trial period and tried unsuccessfully to contact anyone. They simply responded four days later to my message that it was canceled but my charge of $159 would run through the current payment cycle. It said it was a system-generated response that canceled. I see others say that they charge again even if you cancel.

Do not sign up unless you are very sure or nothing comes up that makes you not able to participate (i.e., death) because they have no human beings to help you. It is a money grab scam. I wish I had known. I have no faith in companies that do this - it is set up to ensure they make a maximum profit whatever the circumstances. Very poor and suspect business practices!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good for beginners

By Lee W., Franklin, TN, Verified Reviewer

I wanted to write a review because many of these reviews don't seem that effective. Most people are complaining about getting charged after the free trial. That is how most online businesses work. It is the customer's fault if they forget to cancel before the trial ends. That is not a scam tactic for a company to do that. Some people didn’t even want to download the app. Which is silly because that is sort of the whole program!

About the program:

Noon walks you through step by step small goals as a way to reset your habits. In that aspect, it is pretty good. If you aren’t that familiar with choosing healthy foods and starting to exercise, I think this app is great.

Many beginners fall into exercise diet traps of starting our really intensely, in the beginning, only to fail after not being able to maintain that pace. This program tries to counter that by starting slow and easy and ramping up. You aren’t going to lose pounds a week here, and it’s not a "quick fix" mentality here. This seems to be about slow and permanent change over time (which is healthy!).

The jury is still out on the personal trainer because I haven’t been using the app long enough to review that thoroughly.

In terms of logging foods and exercise, it’s fairly easy. Although it would be nice to be able to log common meals instead of individual ingredients every time.

I like the idea of learning to categorize food vs. counting actual calories. A "green, yellow, and red" coding system is good for making healthy choices without knowing actual calories.

I think this program would be great for beginners looking to change their lifestyle habits. It may be a little too basic for athletes or people already familiar with exercise and eating healthy.

I am a semi-professional athlete looking to compete at a higher level and am familiar with exercise and diet control techniques. Overall this system is very solid so far. Whatever your take, this definitely not a scam or fraudulent program. Not liking something doesn’t make it a scam. It may not be for everyone, but it’s worth a shot if other systems haven’t worked for you. Just be mindful of the free trial dates. I marked it on my calendar three times with alarms on the days leading up to the trial period ending so I can bail if needed.

I hope this info helps some of you out!

Noom

By Patricia S., New York, Verified Reviewer

Scam - don't do it. I tried and found it is computer-generated people. I paid $59 for a meal plan (it has been deducted from my credit card bill already) that was not even available on the app, or maybe I could not find it? I asked several times. Scam.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My observations after 6 weeks with Noom.

By Lori M., Cedar Falls, IA, Verified Reviewer

My sister called me and said she had started with Noom two weeks before she called and was losing weight and liked the program. I also needed to lose weight and joined up. We both like the psychological aspect of the program.

Although the information given is mostly what I already knew, Noom seemed to bring it all together in an order that makes sense and breaks down the components, so I see how everything affects why and what I missed trying to lose weight on my own.

I like the calorie counting and plan my meals ahead of time so I can control portions before I eat. I do wish the foods listed were easier to calculate like when I enter steak, and I get an option for cup amounts or radishes or sliced onions. There are too many brand names to search. But all in all, logging calories and portion control is the best part of Noom for me.

I have created a few of my own healthy recipes and have entered them, but it asks for nutrition information, and I don't how to calculate that, but the calories do come off my count, so I guess that is okay. I would like a way to add a recipe and know for certain that I calculated the calories for each serving.

I wish there was a way to link on to more in-depth more information on some of the daily information you provide.

I enjoy the daily contact and all the tips and information and the silly humor. It starts my day with a smile. I need to engage more with my group because now I am mostly an observer, but my coach is good and checks on me. I like the accountability.

I have lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks and feel confident that I will reach my goal with Noom. I know I need to work on the exercise portion of the program more, but I will get there. And I will stay with the program after I reach my goal. As a whole, I am happy I joined and happy with the results while working the Noom program! I have already recommended Noom to others.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
