It works for me!

I have tried many diets for the last 30 years+, but none have proved to be sustainable. The psychological approach offered by Noom is helping me to understand why I gain weight, and it's not all about foods, I actually love healthy food, but what I love most about Noom is giving myself permission to have a little bit of something I like every now and then without immediately thinking I am doomed! I am nearly two months in and have lost quite a bit of weight without too much faffing around with food lists, etc.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great new approach

I've been using Noom for about six weeks now. My experience with Noom is so different from other weight loss apps and products. Actually, I don't even like saying weight loss app, it's about so much more than just weight loss. It is a fresh approach to getting healthy and they are doing it in a way that sets you up for a lifetime of success. Six weeks in and I'm still excited about the program, and I'm feeling positive about the things that are happening on the scale and in the way I am eating. I'm not perfect in my eating and health habits but you really don't have to be all the time...they get it, sometimes life doesn't allow us to be perfect. This program makes me think about what I'm going to eat next and how that food will help my body (or not). They use a lot of psychology, and for me, it's a great approach. It's a bit spendy for the program, but I feel like it's worth the education I am getting. Plus you get a goal coach to help you through the process.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Glad I made the RIGHT decision! Choosing Noom!

Noom has been a wonderful surprise! I kept seeing their ads and dismissing them, and I thought, what can I lose, with TWO free weeks!

I am in the midst of my sixth week and I am absolutely delighted with their fundamental philosophy: eating should become a choice, not a habit. I have followed their input and have consistently weighed myself, entered my meals and am trying to see the way I behave with food and all that affects the way I approach it.

The results? I have lost twelve pounds already! It has not been difficult at all, because, I think I am learning rather than feeling that I am disciplining myself. The attitude is POSITIVE rather than negative. It is not about what I CAN'T DO but rather, what I CAN DO!

My Coach, Kristi, has been superb - friendly, helpful, affirming and challenging, all with grace, intelligence, and kindness.

Bottom line? I could not be more delighted!

The only portion that I do not choose is the Group Sharing. That concept feels too much like Facebook for fatties. Great if you want that, but even greater that I am not obligated to participate in the group experience.

Overall thumbs up but some improvement opportunities

Overall, I enjoy the digestible learning every day - after 5 weeks some refresher would be awesome, maybe that is coming. I think the approach to tracking with the color coding is helpful. I have used multiple other plans and by far this is the easiest plan for me now, and it has left me feeling less guilty about what I eat. I love the ability to just leave the activity tracking up to the app and my Apple Watch. I did lose weight even over the holidays and found support with my peer group.

Food for thought...

1.) Being able to find a meal from the past and copy to new day even new meal, i.e. dinner to lunch, etc. would be extremely valuable.

2.) Being able to view past days and not have to reconfirm that you are down with that meal would be helpful - if no changes made then just be able to close it.

3.) I am not clear on the help that a goal specialist provides - my specialist has been great at reminding me each week to think about my goal but has really left it completely to me on what that goal is. I was struggling at one point and not sure how to design a goal to attack my challenge she was unable to give me any ideas. I do want to own my own process, but if I had all the answers I would not be here - I would love ideas and ultimately decide myself what works for me.

4.) I would love a separate location where we could go to find what we documented in our daily goals, etc. and where we could even leave journal notes for ourselves. It would be easier to go back and review, and reconfirm or update along the way.

5.) I wonder if the peer group concept works - if everyone is at the same place on their journey would it be more helpful to include those that are beginners and more experienced? I think that way you newer folks can get help from the more experienced and more experienced can benefit from the enthusiasm of those that have been through the ups and downs.

Noom

Noom was exactly what I needed! It helped me to stop dieting and start living. Understand the color system, helped me to eat the right portions lots of greens, moderate amounts of yellow, and small amounts of red. Unprocessing my diet was another very helpful change in my life. After around six months I'm at the point in my life I thought I would never be craving veggies, fruits, and whole grains. It was a crazy feeling the first time I grabbed a vegetable! Growing up I was not a fan, who is? Another great aspect of Noom is that they celebrate various aspects of success, not just the number on the scale. Maintaining a positive mindset, treating yourself, trying new things, and seeing physical differences. Noom has definitely helped to change my life for the better!

Yeah! I'm a Noomer!

Hi, I was actually reluctant to enroll in the program because I haven't been successful in any weight loss program. What a great program. They combine psychology, your goals, humor, and facts that really melt into a successful program for me. I enrolled on 11/30/2018. I am over 70, now walking a mile a day and down 9.4 lbs. I have learned that correct decision-making and choices is a key role in the program. I will re-enroll when my initial membership is up and work towards my goal of losing overall 25 lbs.

A different, fun, and effective approach

Noom is different from any other diet/plan I've tried. They work really hard to educate you and delve deep into your cravings and why you have them or why you're eating at a certain time or when you feel a certain way. Their SOS plan works to help make sure you stay on track. You have both a personal coach and then a group and group coach to help you stay on track and support you. Being a part of the group really makes you want to do well, and the support from them is amazing. Noom doesn't pressure you to stop eating the food you love. Instead, it teaches you how to eat it in moderation and be responsible for it. It's definitely a program I would recommend to a friend.

This thing works!

I am a lifetime member of (well you know) and the diet yo-yo game that so many can relate to. Without naming names, there are only two diet plans I have refused to try, and while I’ve been successful EVENTUALLY with all numbers of those I have done; it was always a pretty miserable, and ultimately, failing long term solution.

I don’t know exactly why Noom is working so much better for me. I’ve done behavioral, nutritional, coaching and personal trainers in the past...but it is, and I’m SO grateful. I have had many challenges in my life and my weight has always been a struggle for me, which my DNA test revealed why. That part alone was worth it!

I’m still not to my goal, but well on my way, with much bigger losses than I’ve ever experienced in the past.

I won’t lie and say I didn’t have a set back so far, but even my reaction to that has changed, which allowed me to keep going and see even more dramatic lifestyle and weight loss drops thereafter.

It’s like having your own personal weight loss program, which oddly becomes your brain.

Don’t waste time or money on a Fitbit, recipe subscriptions or another failed and miserable journey weight loss program. Noom ties all the positive pieces and loses the negative parts into a bow all under one app (backed by evidence-based research) and then tops it with daily bite-sized assignments that keep your motivation juices flowing and making it fun!

It’s the closest thing you’ll get to the smartest, most encouraging personalized weight loss life coach!

Coaching and psychology

I need to be kept accountable. If I am left to my own devices when it comes to eating healthy, weight loss etc., I trip over that metaphorical speed bump every single time. What I like the most about Noom is that it teaches you how to move past the speed bump with its psychology based learning, plus it gives you a coach who you talk with weekly, and you work on weekly accomplishments. Combined, this helps with the constant nagging that I failed yet again, and it keeps me accountable because the last thing I want to do is let my coach down. Which I know they would just give me a pep talk and get me back up, but it's exactly what I need. I like the food logging, but I would like to see that the database is more robust with known foods and also has the ability to barcode items.

Overall, if you are someone who needs something a little more robust than just food logging and wants the accountability structure, then I would definitely suggest Noom.

Finally believe I can lose weight and keep it off!

I've been significantly overweight since my last child was born 18 years ago. My life includes high ongoing stress of caring for a loved one with significant needs. As an emotional eater, it has made long term changes challenging. So many programs are short term, fad based, or Multi-Level Marketing based. Not Noom! It is exactly what I needed. Daily learning that is not overwhelming, and great support and encouragement in an easy to use power packed app. Best of all? It is psychology and researched based. No fad, MLM, or short term dieting! I LOVE IT! I am finally confident I can get to my target weight and maintain it now. I started right after Thanksgiving. Who makes life-lasting changes and loses weight between Christmas and New Years? Noom users!

Success at last

I started my journey on December 4th. A big mistake, too close to the holidays. I did well that first week. I was pumped and ready to go, but then the parties and get-togethers came, office treats, cookie exchanges and baking days. I was doomed. I had no self-control! I gained everything back plus more from my first week in.

At any rate, I continued to open up the Noom app, read it daily, log my food and weigh in daily during this time, because...I don't really know.

Then I went for three days and logged nothing because I was just eating too much! Well surprise, I got a text message from my coach asking me if I was going to do this or not. For some reason that got to me. She told me to just write out one goal and stick to it. The first goal was to drink water before each meal, which I stuck to but still consumed my holiday treats. My coach was proud that I stuck to my goal and ignored my other failures. Next, I set up another goal, pass up the candy dish. Well, I'm happy to say with the motivation from my coach, group and articles from the app. I got right back on track. I now feel confident that I can do this.

Now that the holidays are behind me, I'm happy to say I lost the weight I gained plus an additional 2 pounds since I decided to get serious. I feel like Noom is really working for me and I can't wait to see what the next month brings my way.
