Noom

Noom has been easy for me to use. It asked for a commitment of 10 minutes per day and really doesn't take much longer than that. Each day has a number of lessons to read and those help to make a game out of information that's not only scientific but very informative. There's a lot of psychology behind what's being taught, which also helps to make things very understandable. I feel like this is more of a lifestyle change than a diet and really staying away from the foods that I shouldn't be eating and trying to focus on the foods that I should has not been difficult. At least not too difficult.

It was with great trepidation that I signed up for yet another diet plan. They always work well for me, until they end, and I'm "on my own." Then I go back to the old habits! Although I'm not to that point with this plan, I have very high hopes that the things that I am learning will stick and I will form the habits necessary to maintain good health. Lessons are provided daily which explain the physical, emotional, psychological, scientific and social aspects of why we do what we do (and it's not all about food), which really has given me pause for thought. Many things that I thought were true are not, and the scientific data is provided. All is presented in a humorous manner, that may seem simplistic to some, but it truly is not. There also is interaction immediately with a coach, who helps you as far as goal setting and working on different parts of what you wish to do. After 14 days, you are also placed into a peer group where you can interact (or not) with others on the journey. I am currently in the 6th week of the 4-month program. I have been very conscientious about doing what I am supposed to do each day, including the journaling of my foods. So far, I really like both the approach that is being taken, and my progress. The coaches are supportive and work with whatever individual issues a person may encounter.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have finished my last diet - I am now a Noomer!

After trial and error with numerous diets including Weight Watchers, TOPS, Akins, South Beach, and Mediterranean, I have become a Noomer. What is a Noomer, you may ask?

Noom is a sensible health program geared toward losing weight while developing a program for overall health. I find it to be very helpful in my quest to enjoy life more fully. They provide organized articles on how to do that. They respond to you one on one as well as creating a community of clients who provide support and information to each other. They provide questionnaires at the end of each article to let you know how well you have comprehended the information or if there is a question about the presentation that you need clarified.

I have cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and advanced osteoarthritis. They send reminders if my blood sugar is out of range so I can take appropriate action. They help me set goals for myself to correct problems I may be having with exercise, consistency with my eating program and how to handle my thoughts and actions on my program to keep me moving forward to my goal.

I would definitely recommend Noom for anyone who needs encouragement and help in working the program. I just feel that they really are devoted to helping me stay on track and keep my goal in sight so I can stay focused and consistent.

Great resource for lifestyle changes for permanent weight loss

I started Noom six weeks ago and it has helped me better understand my thoughts on food, food choices, and triggers to food cravings. Weighing in daily and logging my meals keeps me accountable to my calorie budget. The coaches and the group keep me motivated and on track. Basically, Noom provides me with the tools and resources to make lifestyle changes that lead to permanent weight loss. Follow Noom recommendations and you will lose weight and sustain results as the tools are not a quick gimmick for weight loss but tools for permanent lifestyle changes resulting in weight loss.

Easy to use!

I’m not a good dieter. With Noom, I am able to track every bit of food that I eat. There’s an extensive list of foods with serving size and calorie amounts. If you can’t find a personal favorite food, you can do a one-time entry of information found on most foods. It’s there for you to use! I’ve been using Noom for a month. I’ve lost almost 15 lbs already! My swollen feet have disappeared too. My aim is to get to the weight I was 25 years ago. Noom is helping me with that.

Generally a great tool that concentrates on lifestyle over dieting

The whole approach used by Noom is refreshingly different whilst being based on science. It takes you through your potential lifestyle issues whilst always providing tips and tricks to beat them. The emphasis on not beating yourself up over and slips and the fact that the system incorporates, and indeed plans for, those inevitable bad days makes it feel so much easier to take on.

The support from both the personal coach and the group you are assigned to at the end of your first week really provide that inherent support structure.

One of my favorite aspects is that all goals and rewards are chosen by the Noomer, not the course or the coach. In my case, I have attempted weight lose multiple times and never managed to make it work. Additional health problems only made it harder to imagine I'd ever manage to achieve my goal. The thing that attracted me to Noom was the individual approach it provided without assuming anything about where I was or what I needed. When I hit barriers, the coach is always there with some helpful encouragement and tips.

Basically, I'd recommend this to people who want to lose weight but who can't deal with limited food options or large requirements on your time. Or anyone who needs that personal touch. Yes, it costs more than the average weight loss plan, but I think the extra help and the degree to which the program, in how it teaches to you approach your life in a healthier holistic way, is thoroughly thought out makes it worth it.

What I really like about Noom is it gets behind the why not just the how. I’ve journaled before with other apps and programs, but I really like how Noom shares the science and psychology behind why we struggle with weight gain and loss and how to get beyond and commit to changing your lifestyle, recognizing that it will not happen overnight but over time. It’s all about making better choices for a healthier happy me! The group sharing and accountability with a coach is a nice touch point to have with check-ins. I love the reminders to log my food. I love that you can save articles to a library to refer back and review from time to time what I’ve committed myself to.

Great for me but the app needs some fine tuning

I’m five weeks into this program and down 11 pounds and one pant size. I have lots of energy and a new way of thinking. The program is easy to follow and makes you be accountable. It helps you with the psychology of all that is involved with the weight loss process. I only have issues with the app. I wish that it would share info from my iPhone to iPad. And even though it makes logging food easy, going back in forth within the meal logging section is tedious. Overall I am thrilled with this program and can’t wait to see what the next three months hold.

I have been doing very well with it

I have learned a lot and am trying to take everything into consideration. I have lost 15 lbs in one month, and the only thing that could use some work is the Coach that I have to set goals - he is not very responsive and only checks in once a week if that. I may have to ask to have my coach changed, otherwise, the team I am on and the members are great. This is an up to you kind of diet and not really a diet - you make up your mind whether to follow everything that is suggested. But you also learn why you are doing it, no one judges. It is all in your own hands.

Love Noom!

I started Noom at the end of November. I love it! Mind you it's the holidays, so I overindulged every now and then, but to date have lost over 8 lbs and going strong. The required reading every day is so easy to understand and I look forward to each day's activities. I am one who needs to know "why" I should or should not do something, and Noom explains it with supporting details. Noom really keeps you accountable which I like. You are assigned groups as well, a personal coach that checks in weekly and a group coach that you can comment, ask questions, etc. daily. My only negative comment is there is no option to print the readings. You have to screenshot the pages if you want to print them. I started keeping a notebook with handwritten notes but having the option to print articles would make Noom perfect.
