Loving it so far

I really like it. I have lost weight and feel better. One question is, I don't know what I'm paying for this. It's weird that I'm not getting notifications of the amount. I have friends who want to try it, but when they ask what I'm paying, I can't tell them.

Thought provoking that leads to action

Noom is a very different approach to weight loss and general health.

I realized a while ago that my issues around health and wellness were more psychological than anything else. Sure I know "eat less, move more" works, but putting those simple ideas into practice is, in reality, incredibly difficult.

Noom has helped me think through, analyze, and find solutions to all the things "in my head" that prevent me from losing weight and keeping it off. And it is only a few minutes each day, only introducing enough new material to be interesting without being overwhelming. My coach is also great at keeping me on track and focused.

Great in many aspects, but not all

I have been using Noom for six weeks and have enjoyed many aspects of it. I like the food logging system a lot and really enjoy the articles each day. I have learned a lot and appreciate that it isn't daunting. A little information each day keeps me motivated and engaged. I would even say that engaging with the app each day is fun. I haven't used the recipes at all yet, so no review there.

As far as the coaching goes, I have mixed thoughts. My main Goal Specialist is fine. I don't feel like there is much of a connection there and often don't hear from her for days at a time. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the interactions seem really canned and impersonal. For my group, I like my group coach and appreciate the opportunity to engage in the community through the app. Many people don't post in the group forum, but some dedicated users do, and there are some good encouragement and sharing of ideas that goes on. Some days I like the group and others I feel overwhelmed by so many threads and responses. But it is a great feature for those who are looking for support and accountability.

My app is linked to my Fitbit and I notice quite the lag time in syncing my daily steps. This is annoying to me as my steps should increase my allotted calories for the day...so when it doesn't sync, I don't know what I should be getting. In the Android app, I could go in and manually change my step count for the day. But then I got an iPhone and this feature doesn't seem to be available and is quite frustrating.

Overall I am happy with Noom and am glad that I have gone beyond the two-week free trial period. I have lost about 9 pounds in six weeks. My clothes fit better. I have more energy. I am very excited because I feel like the lifestyle I am living is sustainable. I feel like what I am learning really is a way of life and not a "quick fix" diet fad.

Jump starting the New Year and the New Me

I started Noom before the holidays in hopes that I could get a jump start on the new me. I love the accountability piece and waking up to my own personal weight loss app each morning. I lost my first ten pounds and have mostly held through the holidays. Now that we’re into the new year, I feel like I have enough tools under my belt to ramp it up. Keeping track of food is easy and I rarely come across an item that isn’t in their database. The science and psychology behind weight loss is so informative and I love that Noom gives you bits and pieces along the way, so it’s not overwhelming. Noom is exactly what I needed!

Very positive approach to healthful living

At first, I just wanted to lose weight. This program goes deeper than helping me lose weight. Noom provides daily input on weight loss, calorie definitions, psychology, my psychology, making good, lifetime food and habit choices. Just when I achieved my "steps" goal, I got advanced to a higher level, which is good for me. I am really motivated in the morning to weigh in. Eat breakfast. Read new Noom reports and take pop-up quizzes. I'm in my fifth week. I survived the holidays. I met new support people. My coach Erin steers me in the right direction. I am accountable for my choices and understand a lot more about me than I did before.

Make room for Noom in your life!

Noom works. It's not easy to make a lifestyle change when we have to break habits that we don't necessarily hate. Noom doesn't shame you for being you. It's a gradual process (because any permanent change has to be), where you replace unhealthy bits for healthy bits a bit at a time. The app is terrific for keeping track of where you are. The information is relevant and educates you - the psychology works.

I know starving yourself, point counting, keto-nonsense, etc. may drop a few pounds quick, but that isn't a life change. Changing your life is gradual and permanent. A pound a week is losing 52 pounds in 1 year. Take the year - and be happy with the result.

Looking at yourself in a new light

I signed up for Noom because I had struggled with weight loss. Noom keeps you on target and for the first time I feel like I can relax and enjoy my life and yet still lose weight, all I have to do is stick with it and be honest with myself, which is surprisingly refreshing! I have learned why I have messed up with my efforts in the past, and I understand what is needed on this journey. I got through the holidays, enjoying them without a big gain in weight like I had in the past, and I believe I will continue to my goal weight since I am continually gaining new tools to succeed.

I love the support, both psychological and visual.

I love Noom's way of approaching the anxiety and stress of weight loss. Changing your body means changing your mind. I never really got that. Losing weight isn't the only thing I'm interested in after being part of Noom for more than six weeks now. I'm interested in being healthy, mind and body. I realize if I don't lose a lot of weight quickly, I'm still ok. If I gain a pound or two, I'm still ok. If I'm hungry, I'm still ok. If I don't feel like eating, I'm still ok. And I have lost weight, and I do look better. Can I lose more? Yes. Can I look even better? Yes. Do I have to do it immediately? No. I'm still ok. Noom is changing your mind about weight loss. And it will happen.

Just the kick in the butt I needed.

For a few years now, losing weight has been a goal. Others suggested diets and other programs, but buying "their" food to participate did not make sense to me. Eat their food and lose the weight. What happens when I stop eating their food? Then I saw Noom. I decided to give their two-week trial a chance and I am so glad I did. Their combined approach with science, psychology, nutrition, and humor has helped to lose 10 pounds in the 6 weeks without stress or additional expense. It is a lifestyle change that I can continue without fear of gaining weight back. No judgment. No shaming. No fail approach to healthy living.
