How Does a Stitch Fix Delivery Work?

The Stitch Fix signup process begins with a short online quiz. You’ll browse through a variety of outfits and select the ones that match your style.

Then you’ll share whether you are interested in specific types of clothing such as business, formal, casual, and date night. There are also prompts to share your accessory preferences.

Next, you will specify your clothing sizes, share your favorite clothing brands, and note whether there are any colors or styles that you would never wear. Finally, you can share any specifics that you want your stylist to know.

Pregnant women can opt for maternity clothing as well.

Once signed up, you can schedule a clothing delivery for any point. You can make a one-time purchase or choose the frequency of these deliveries from every two weeks to once every three months.

A Stitch Fix stylist will review your profile and ship your first order of five pieces. It’s possible to leave notes to your stylist (you will work with the same one for every order) about any specific items that you want.

    I heard about Stitch Fix and thought I would give it a try. I answered all the questions for my profile and waited for my first fix. When it arrived, I was underwhelmed. None of the pieces I received matched my style at all. I sent an email that I was overall disappointed, and they offered to extend my styling fee of $20 as a credit if I tried the service again.

    Thinking that I should add more detail to my profile, I went back in to my profile page. I made sure if was as accurate as I could get it AND added a link to my Pinterest page of clothing styles I like.

    My 2nd fix arrived a day ago. Again I was disappointed. I don't think the stylist who arranged my package looked at my profile or my Pinterest page. I didn't expect to like everything in the box, but I did expect to like and want to purchase one item. For example, I have about 6-7 scarves pinned on my page (I love accessory scarves) and I never received one in either package.

    If you want to try this service, just make sure you are ok with losing $20 with each fix.

    I was so excited to try this service! It sounded so perfect, I should have known it was too good to be true. Stitch Fix is a scam, and after doing some sleuthing online I discovered others have found this out too. I became suspicious after I received three nearly identical boxes in a row, all full of pieces I either told them didn't fit or that I didn't like. What a disappointment and waste of money!

    I was really enjoying my Stich Fix deliveries up until last week when I unfortunately lost my debit card and had to cancel it. I received an email from this company asking me to update my card information and I tried as soon as I got their email, but I had forgotten my password. I sent SEVERAL emails for help to resolve this matter and did not receive any, just more nasty emails. After a couple of days of aggravation over this matter I am 100% sure I DO NOT want to business with a company that is not for their customers.

  • I feel like I was scammed...

    I would like to start off, that they did not ask for my measurements. This should have been my first tip off, that the items they sent might not fit well. I consider myself a medium or size 8, but with the way women's clothes are sized these day, I might as well say I am a size orange banana. All of the clothes I received were VERY large on me. Although I indicated my style, and even created an entire Pinterest page with outfits that I would wear, the clothes were far from my fashion comfort zone.

    One item I received was literally the ugliest shirt I have ever seen in my life. I really wanted this to work, I hate shopping and it seemed like a dream come true. I even considered giving them a second shot to get it right, but so far I ended paying $20 to receive ugly clothes that didn't fit me and an extra errand I really didn't have the time to run. So I say, fool me once Stitch Fix, shame on you. I won't let you fool me twice, you time wasting scammers.

    Don't waste your time. Clothes are all garbage and highly marked up. Plus I spent one and a half hours filling out a style profile only for them to completely disregard it and send me what they want. I am getting my styling refund back since this is a joke.

    I thought it would be fun to try this service, and I clearly filled out their surveys to let them know that I prefer cool colors in natural fabrics. What arrived was a box of cheap, warm synthetics with high price tags. I went to their website to send everything back and cancel my account. Then, mysteriously, an email arrived in my inbox thanking me for scheduling my next "fix!" I did not, nor will I ever again!

    My first delivery was perfection; great style, perfect fit, and really fun clothes that I will wear often. Then came the second shipment, and it looked like someone made a mad dash through Walmart, threw in some charcoal gray, oversized sweat pants and top along with a denim tattered pocket shirt from the 70's, as well as a pair of culotte length denim capri's three sizes too big that I wouldn't wear on a camping trip, let alone in public.

    Sorry, but hook me in with my original stylist, and I'll consider staying on for another box of clothes, but if it is a luck of the draw with who will pick your clothes for the next shipment, then I just don't want to be hassled with the unpredictability of that. I've heard this story repeated with several friends, so I doubt I will bother with a third shipment. I frankly have other things to do with my time.

    Overall Experience:

    I have received only one fix. I am in my mid-thirties and I like a little fashion adventure with a few safe pieces. I conveyed this. I also attached my Pinterest board and a photo of me. What I got was pretty unfortunate.

    The clothing was cheap in quality and expensive in price. The clothes felt like gap quality. They were boring. An oversized grey sweater. Chinos. A pleather (ew) bomber jacket.

    Boring sweater and pants aside, the jacket was the only thing I might have kept if it was not so cheap feeling. Pleather is ok as long as it doesn’t look and feel like it came from 5-7-9. And even with the tacky quality, it was still almost a hundred bucks! What the what?! Oh, and everything was way too big. How?! I entered my sizes (though there is no spot for actual measurements).

    I am pretty liberal with spending (just ask my credit card lenders).

    I have tried to get refunded for two bags of clothes I sent back. I wasn’t receiving the items that I clearly described in my notes to my stylist. I even had a Pinterest board full of clothing ideas and none of them were that close.

    But because I had events I had to go to and I was limited on my shopping time, I kept some of them. The things I returned I have not received credit for all of them. I even left notes in the bags on the kinds of things I wanted.

    To communicate with customer service and speak to someone is virtually non-existent. I have asked several times for a phone call and have not ever received one

    Please do not use this company; you will be sorry.

    I liked the clothes, but I found that several items in each fix were more expensive than my set price ranges, making each fix very expensive. When I brought this up with Stitch Fix, they said that their stylists are encouraged to include a "splurge" item (which means their business model is designed to push you to buy things over your stated limits).

    I received my latest fix, and because I was traveling, I was not able to pick up my fix for several days. In my fix, there was a ridiculously overpriced item I found for 68% cheaper online. When I complained, Stitch Fix said they would price match if I sent them the information, which I promptly did. Then, after THEY offered to price match, they denied me because it was more than 7 days since the box was delivered.

    I would have actually liked to continue receiving fixes, but after this experience, I decided to cancel my subscription. I felt like they only wanted to wring as much money out of me as they could, instead of providing quality consistent service over time, so they lost this client. And I recommend that you not subscribe unless you really don't mind being turned upside down and shaken until all your money falls out of your pockets.
