Horrible experience EVER

By Dianna P., Las Vegas, NV, Verified Reviewer

Will never recommend Vroom to anyone. I paid cash for a 2018 Mercedes Benz CLA250. Had to keep calling to see when the car was going to be delivered. The car was delivered to me at 8:30 pm, could not look over the vehicle. While driving the vehicle home, the service lights came on stating the vehicle was 134 passed due for service. Vroom was notified of this and instructed me to take it to a dealership to have a diagnostic done. After doing so, Vroom refused to pay for the repairs. Told me if I didn't want the car and wanted to do a buyback, I was responsible for the repairs. But if I keep the car they would pay for the repairs. In Vegas if I would have serviced this vehicle before selling it this all could have been avoided. Their representatives had attitudes because I wanted to return the car, because they did not honor their own contract agreements. Vroom basically forced me to keep this vehicle. I would have been out of another $1000 just to return the car from their restock fees and me paying for the repairs. So never again and never will I recommend Vroom.

I also reported this to BBB.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Poor quality on a $46k car

By Johnee F., Dallas, TX, Verified Reviewer

Bought a 14k mile BMW M3 with a bumper that was substandardly repaired. Also all 4 tires started leaking air from the rims because the finish is coming off from the inside of the rim. I had no way of seeing this damage when the unit was delivered. Vroom did repair the bumper and the 1 tire that I knew was leaking. They had me sign a document releasing them from the situation. The 3 other tires started leaking the week after and I had to have someone disassemble all 4 tires to find out they all 4 had the leaking issue from the interior wheel damage. Vroom now refuses to assist with the issue. I do not recommend. Poor quality standards.

Poor customer service and communication

By Scott W., Albuquerque, NM, Verified Reviewer

Super deal on cars. Horrible follow through, closeout on documentation and communication beyond delivery. Buyer beware. It has taken me well over 100 days so far and I know for a fact that my state had registered and plated the car almost 40 days ago.

The Vroom team hasn't reached out to advise of the situation, rather I am calling them, reminding them and trying to speak to anyone in charge who can close the deal simply by getting me my registration and license plate.

Not such a good experience - but working through

By Jen W., Michigan, Verified Reviewer

We had some issues during delivery and after. I was not receiving adequate support and was very frustrated...After I posted my review, I was contacted by supervision at Vroom and we are working through things. I will update again after all is settled.

Great when buying, absent after

By Ivy V., San Luis Obispo, CA, Verified Reviewer

I bought my car through Vroom due to the price. You can always contact someone when looking to buy a car but after you will never get answers even if you are able to talk to someone. I am trying to get another temporary title and called every day for the last 7 business days, no response. I am so frustrated with Vroom. Just don't.

Do not use Vroom to sell your car

By Hayes N., Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

Do not use Vroom to sell your car!

They are a fraudulent company and are trying to scam you.

I reached out to Vroom on 7/20/2020 and they emailed me a quote for my car. I accepted the quote and filled out the online documents. A few days later, they FedExed me more documents and requested I mail them back.

Once that was done, they informed me that a company would be coming to pick up the car. It took 2 weeks for a delivery service to come (most likely due to COVID). They picked up the can on 08/05/2020.

I was told that a payment would be mailed to my lien-holder 2 DAYS later.

On 08/11/2020, someone verbally confirmed a check had been mailed.

It is now August 31st (2 days shy of 4 WEEKS) and after daily emails and phone calls with lengthy hold times, I was just informed today that no check has actually been mailed.

I requested to talk to a manager and they said they would email someone and to expect a response in the next 24-48 hours.

This company is a scam, and now I have to make another month's car payment because they didn't send payment out on time. For a car I don't even own anymore.

Do not use them to sell your car!

Update

By Justin B., Iowa, Verified Reviewer

After nearly 1 month, Vroom finally took care of the problem. They paid for new tires and compensated us for the missing feature. I have added 1 star to reflect this resolution.

Worst experience ever

By Casey H., Washington, DC, Verified Reviewer

Vroom is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The customer service is terrible. The vehicle was delivered 45 minutes away and I was still charged the delivery fee (I'm battling them about that currently). The car came with issues with a wheel bearing and Vroom has refused to approve the estimate. I've conservatively spent 15 hours on hold, and each time I call I get a different representative. Honestly, I think they're a fraudulent business and they won't even post this review.

Avoid at all costs!

By Matt W., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

Absolutely atrocious after-the-sale customer service. Like the car. Price was fair. However, after dealing with the customer service people who often gave me conflicting and contradictory information I doubt I could ever buy a car from them again.

When I told them that I needed the bill of sale for the car to show proof of ownership for my daughter's road test I was first told it was in the car. Called back after that, was not true, and was told the paperwork department would have to get it for me. Another hour on the phone to be told they could not get it for me. In GA because of COVID, my daughter received her driver's license without the road test which is now required by the end of the month. When I mentioned to the Vroom employee that if I cannot get a bill of sale my only other option was to rent a car, they thought renting a car was the best idea.

If this was my only issue I would probably be upset, but overall, their after-the-sale service is very hit or miss. More miss actually. I guess I have to go rent a car because Vroom is too lazy to send me a scanned copy of the bill of sale. I can spend hours on hold (not an exaggeration) and they can't take five minutes to help a customer out. Once they have your money you are nothing to them.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Easy to buy the car

Car is what we ordered

Price was fair

Worst after-the-sale customer service

Bait and switch operation

By Kristin W., Winchester, CA, Verified Reviewer

I found Vroom via my credit union's car buying service. I had been in the market for a very specific car and was thrilled to find it via this service. In the description of the vehicle, it included two key things I was looking for...first, keyless entry, and second, "fully loaded." When I called to follow up and made the decision to move forward with the purchase, I was told that Vroom did NOT collaborate with my credit union. I thought that was weird because I found the vehicle as a direct result of using my credit union's website. But, I went ahead and trusted the process.

In the end, the delivery date was changed FOUR times and I had to end up running home from work because the driver was an hour earlier than the window of time he gave me. He unloaded the vehicle and handed me a single key. NOT a key fob - a single key ala 1980. This was a 2019 vehicle! Then, I climb into the vehicle and discover it was a base model and not even close to being fully loaded. The only feature it had was Apple Car Play. I immediately enacted my right to return the vehicle. So - just to be clear - even with false advertising (and yes, I have the screenshots to prove how it was advertised) you will lose $599 for the delivery fee.

Do not buy from Vroom - it is a bait and switch operation. The return process also required that I micromanage the steps as what I was told didn't happen in the timeline that was shared. Overall, I am super disappointed and I find it unreal that I paid $599 to send back a vehicle that was not even close to the description provided. NOT ok!

Pros and Cons

Price was fair

Sales service was to the point

I didn't have to visit a dealership

The car was NOT as described

They said they didn't work with my credit union

Restocking fee even when the error was on sales side
