A real life-changer

By Robin G., Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I'll start with the only annoying thing - that is the corny acronyms and little too much # (hashtags). Maybe that's because I'm almost 60 and I don't embrace the whole social media as much as some of the younger ones.

I've been on the plan since January 1st, and I'm down 13 pounds, but I really feel like I'm making changes that are going to last for the rest of my life. I'm more aware of what I'm putting in my mouth, trying to make better choices, moving more, and enjoying all of it without feeling deprived. Sure, I slip a little from time to time, but it's not about feeling guilty, it's about looking at the big picture. I'm in, and I believe!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

What I needed to feel confident

By Tammy L., New Hampshire, Verified Reviewer

I have essentially yo-yo dieted my whole life and certainly was influenced by my mom always struggling with her weight and constant diet. I guess I never knew and dug deep until Noom. Now I know how much that influenced my struggles, and have learned ways to accept and move on so I can confidently get to where I feel like I look good. And it isn't now all about a number, but a feeling and each step I take with Noom, that helps me and gets me to this lifestyle is a success.

It's working for me!

By Paul W., Inman, SC, Verified Reviewer

I am losing weight and also waist size just like I had hoped (and tried/failed in the past.) Noom is not extreme. They don't fuss or cajole you. They understand plateaus and help you through them. The color divisions help me a lot. Also, it's easy to record what you ate, and their system gives you the calorie count automatically. Noom does a lot of things very well, but I guess it's their use of psychology that is what they do best. I recommend Noom.

Solid help

By Linda G., Rochester, MI, Verified Reviewer

I’ve just started my 5th week of utilizing the app Noom. While I’m not killing it in terms of the scale numbers - the learning, the information and my mental change in my outlook on health and weight loss is amazing. My relationship with food is rapidly changing. Food is not my enemy, and I’m learning to enjoy it. I’ve never stuck with a "program" before. This time is different. I’m developing a new mindset, and that’s what makes me recommend Noom so highly.

Different approach to health and weight loss

By Sheree K., New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I have been using Noom for a month now and have found it to be very helpful so far. While I had been using other apps to track activity and food, I was still having difficulty keeping off the weight I lost. The big difference with Noom is the educational aspect of using science as it relates to thought patterns, habits, metabolism, sociology, and psychology. Learning about these things has increased my awareness and given me ways to address problem areas. The goal coach contacts and group chat have been helpful with questions and goal setting too.

That being said, I have seen a lot of negative reviews/comments on social media from people who feel Noom is not forthcoming enough about the program, that the cost can vary greatly, and difficulty canceling if they decided not to sign up after the trial.

I wouldn’t have signed up for the trial with the initial monthly price I saw, but then I received a promotion for a large discount so I decided to try it. I am glad that I did, but I think more people might be willing to try if there were more transparency in the advertising.

I love Noom!

By Allison G., Oxford, AL, Verified Reviewer

I’ve always struggled with my weight. I’m an all or nothing dieter. I would make it so strict that I couldn’t stick with it. Then I would fall off the wagon and eat whatever I wanted until the next round of dieting started. Even though I knew what I should do to lose weight, I just couldn’t seem to be consistent. Noom has helped me rethink food and weight loss. There is such a sense of accountability and support. I strongly recommend this for anyone who has yo-yo dieted. I’m going to miss it after my 4-month graduation. Who has ever said that on a diet before?

Perfect diet

By Susan R., Warwick, RI, Verified Reviewer

I am having so much fun with Noom. The app is so easy. The information is poignant, educational, and fun.

It teaches you from the very start the best approach to lose weight and most importantly how to keep it off.

I am losing weight and have the tools to keep it off and maintain a healthy lifestyle without starving myself or having the foods I enjoy.

Noom is totally working for me!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

By Gay E., Clemson, SC, Verified Reviewer

I simply love Noom. I used WW 9 years ago to drop 50 pounds. Since then they have changed the program, and for me, it wasn't working to drop a few pounds that I had gained. My daughter told me about Noom. I decided to give it a try at New Years 2019. Since then I have lost over 7 pounds. I like the fact that after a few weeks you are hooked up with an accountability group to share success and bounce struggles, etc. off of. The daily information and tasks help you to learn new habits for a lifetime of healthy eating.

One thing that I don't like is some of the food calories are wrong. I was traveling with my mom a few weeks ago and we stopped at Hardee's for breakfast. I looked at the app and it said a country ham biscuit only had 300 calories, but the calories listed on the menu board said 500. Nothing major, but I suggest checking the calories on restaurant food yourself and not simply believing the app. One time the app said something had way more calories than Five Guys menu board.

I've learned a lot

By Janet N., New York, Verified Reviewer

I have found Noom to be very educational. Not only do they have a great food logging system, but their short, daily articles have really helped me. I'm not young, and honestly, I'm not going to work out at the gym; they are able to help me anyway. I have a coach that checks in with me once a week who understands and supports my efforts. There is also a group you are encouraged to participate in, if you are so inclined.

I joined Noom after trying to lose weight by tracking calories with other online systems. I would lose a little weight, plateau, and then quit, gaining back all the weight. The problem with doing it on your own is that you are alone with no education as to food and your habits, no encouragement, and it gets discouraging and daunting. Noom has a reasonable way of looking at everything. I'm not made to feel guilty if I slip and they are there to help me past the plateaus. It is worth the money if your goal is to educate yourself, change your habits, lose weight, and then keep it off. I can say that what I've learned will be a part of my life from here on out.

Love it

By Maria P., Edinboro, PA, Verified Reviewer

Noom has really helped me. They've empowered me to make good decisions and set and reach my goals without feeling deprived of anything. I feel really supported by the coaches. The daily readings keep me on track and teach me a lot about myself! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be a healthier version of themselves. Noom is worth the money. I lost 10 pounds in the first month, and I feel amazing. I couldn't have done it without them.

Finally something that works

By Roger T., Texas, Verified Reviewer

My doctor was lecturing me to lose weight because my blood pressure and A1C were high. "It’s diet and exercise," but doctors don’t tell you what "diet and exercise" looks like in practical terms. The doctor gave me diet pills. They didn’t work. I killed myself working with a trainer 5 days a week for over a year, didn’t reach my goal. Trainers don’t know nutrition. I tried counting calories with some success but I didn’t reach my goal, and I regained the weight.

Noom is different. It’s giving me practical tools that I can actually use in real life and stick to. It not only addresses the "how to eat" that others couldn’t tell me but the "why I eat." It deals with my relationship with food. I’m losing weight, eating things I like and I’m not hungry or depriving myself. I now have tools to deal with business lunches and social events. I still have dessert occasionally, and I still lose weight. Noom filled in the missing information that I needed. If I had access to this information earlier, I wouldn’t be obese now.

Just 4 weeks in I’m down ten pounds, and I’ve lost 2.5 inches around my waist. I’m going to buy a new belt today because my pants keep slipping down.

One thing I’ve noticed is that a majority of the narratives use female pronouns, I’m a male. It’s not a big point (I’m not sensitive), but it does seem slanted one way. You might consider being a bit more neutral.
