Slow

I signed up in May, received my first perfume in June. July was never charged, and nobody could figure out why, but it got skipped. For August I was billed in late July, and by late August I was contacting them about where my order is. I got a reply in about 24 hours with a tracking number and an apology that they were moving warehouses. The tracking number stayed pending until mid-September and I finally received my August order on September 19th. I now have an inactive tracking number for September. I didn't think that was legal?

Not happy

I understand they moved warehouses. But I wrote an email about my August perfume and got the generic "we moved" message. I had seen my order processing in August. It is now the last day of September, and my September order has not arrived, nor my August one. I also ordered a new case and never received that. Once I receive these 3 items, I'm going to cancel. It makes me sad because I love Scentbird, but when I have tried to receive customer service, I get generic emails and on the site can get no info. I just want what I paid for.

Don’t upgrade your subscription

When I first signed up for Scentbird about a year ago, I LOVED IT! How exciting it was to get a new perfume every month. Affordable when full-size, high-end perfumes are completely out of my mom-of-three budget. Not to mention the compliments of constantly changing fragrances.

At the beginning of July my husband wanted to try it out as well. So I upgraded to the two scent per month subscription. An extra $10 a month but worth every penny to us. That being said, I started a brand new "queue" of all men’s fragrances. August comes, one fragrance and it was men’s. I contact Scentbird about paying for the additional fragrance but only receiving one and they say it’s because of when I upped my subscription, so the two fragrances wouldn’t come until September (which made no sense considering I received a men’s fragrance, which was the brand new queue, shouldn’t I have received a fragrance from my original queue?).

Either way, I blew it off and figured it would all be right by September...Well, surprise surprise, still only one fragrance and it is a man's fragrance. So now for two months I’ve been charged extra for an upped subscription I can’t even enjoy. And to top it off, I’ve contacted Scentbird eight times now to only be replied twice with the same BS excuse of "it’s when you upgraded, therefore, you only get one this month." And now I’m being completely ignored!

Horrible customer service and literally stealing money for a subscription that they don’t uphold. Great idea, bad execution. I wish they could get it right.

Regrettable customer service

I joined in May, and by October I had only received three fragrances! I’m still missing the September product and a perfume that I purchased.

There is not a phone number to talk to them, so you repeatedly have to explain your issue via email.

It takes days to get an answer, which is always to tell you that they are in the middle of a move and to wait.

I got tired of waiting and joined Scentbox instead.

I was frankly exhausted from apologetic emails that kept telling me that my stuff was on the way. Yada, yada.

Sent wrong perfume

I thought this would be a nice way for me and my wife to try out some new colognes and perfume, and I guess it is if you get what you asked for. I canceled after my first month after receiving the wrong perfume. I guess it wouldn’t be that bad if customer service was better and corrected the issue. I had many emails back and forth. All they said is send us a picture of what we sent you. What! So I did. I heard nothing back. I give up.

Scentbird doesn't use order #'s so I can't verify my purchase on this site (which should also tell you how organized they are)

I signed up and paid, and it took a month to receive my first order. Now it has been two months and I have yet to receive my second, nor has it shipped. Every time you log into this site, it tells you that they just moved to a new distributor so shipments are backed up. I've seen this message for two months. Maybe they should figure it out. Their shipments are always late, but they'll be sure to charge you on time.

If there are any competitors that provide the same service but with a better business model, I'll be switching.

Extremely slow deliver to no delivery

I signed up on August 18th, did not receive the first package until September, and now it’s November and I have not received another package. Somehow they completely skipped over October, and I’ve upgraded to receiving two products per month. I tried emailing only get a generic response. Canceling service is not worth the hassle, almost 4 months and I've only received 1 package.

Disappointed

The concept is good, but the company does not live up to its commitment. I subscribed, and the first month they were late with my shipment, but they were not late with charging me. The second month I didn't even receive my shipment, but again, they were not late with charging me. After informing them of the situation, I did not hear from them or get the situation rectified. And since there is no number to speak to anyone, I found myself leaving dozens of emails to no avail. I canceled IMMEDIATELY after that. I'll let you know if I get a refund on the order I never received. I will definitely report them to the BBB.

Great subscription idea, but poorly managed

I’ve had Scentbird since the end of July. The first scent I received was in August and came quickly with proper tracking info. And then it was all downhill from there. September’s scent took until mid-October to arrive, with NO communication from the company about why my order was so delayed. I, of course, was charged for this month’s scent (making sure they get their money seems to be the only thing that they can do on time) on November 10th, yet here we are, the second to last day of November and the thing hasn’t even shipped yet. I love the idea of getting to try different scents, but I just can’t justify continuing to give my money to a company that provides no consistency when it comes to ensuring you actually receive your product. I will be canceling after I receive this month’s fragrance (if I ever do...) and am holding out hope for a better alternative.

Just wow

So this is my second time giving this company a second chance. Just goes like that saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on you me." Anyway, I think I was on my second month of ordering and everything was good, but when it came to the third month last year, my shipment was delayed and never ever showed up, even though I paid for it. I contacted the company, and this is where things got funny. They fed me some line that due to their company expansion, things would be getting difficult, yada yada. So because you took my money and others, you have a hard time delivering what is expected of you because you are expanding.

Anyway, I canceled my services after never getting reimbursed. Well after a few months have passed, I thought that I might retry them to see if things have gotten any better. Surprise, the company still sucks, and they took my money, and I still haven't received what I paid for. Please, America, save your time and money and DO NOT support this company because they have no right doing business.

Love/hate relationship

I really enjoy the scents when I EVENTUALLY RECEIVE my subscription! They take the money at the beginning of each month and well, today is already the 27h of January and I still haven’t received my product. It’s like this every single month. I’ve also tried reaching out to customer service and I always get a robot email response asking for more information. After so many times of trying to get help eventually you just give up. I’m looking for a new company that’s just like Scentbird but without the disappointments.

Over charged and didn't receive my April product

Why haven't I received my April product, why was I charged $15.85 on April 5th when I have not received my product for April or May? If y'all keep doing me this way I'm in the process of thinking about canceling my Scentbird and I'm going to tell all my friends that have signed up for it since then that not to try not to sign up because you'll over charge and we don't get your products like we're supposed to on time. My opinion on Scentbird subscriptions

Before the COVID-19 took its toll, the shipping would take a while to get here. I'm billed every month near the end to receive the next month's perfume, in that case I expect my order to come in the second week of the month, not right before or after the billing date. I don't like the fact they charge an extra 5 buck on perfume that had been released recently or is popular. I think it's better off asking a sample of the perfumes in stores for free rather than paying 15 bucks per little bottle. By the way, if you don't like the scent you receive? Too bad, there are no returns or exchanges, at least from my experience I was never offered those options. I think in the long run you're saving yourself the money buying perfume from a retail store opposed to getting them from here. Because in the store you are offered free samples and can purchase what you WILL like wearing!

In addition, because our fragrances are considered Hazardous Materials, the shipments can take up to ten business days to be delivered in ground shipping. We also assure you that premium fragrances are only 5% of our collection. I’ll probably try a different company for the same service next year. Just not a great service.

I get junk mail on a daily basis. They constantly seem to be trying to trick customers with the email subjects too, acting like there is a "sale" when really it’s just yet another ad to upgrade. Even after upgrading, I still get these emails. After upgrading I cannot easily set my subscription back to what it originally was. So I switched the frequency to be every other month. Apparently that means I can no longer get "limited items." There is absolutely no excuse for me not to be able to go back to 1 product a month with the same simple 2 clicks that upgrading requires. I’m sure I could message customer service but I should not have to.

One of the things that I was originally looking forward to was reviewing the fragrances in a meaningful way. Like quickly giving it a star rating, and selecting the 6 describing ratings along with a short but optional written review. I’m unable to do this, when I go to review an item I can only write a review and give it a star rating. Only once was I able to select the attributes. Because of this, you don’t get a strong sense for what a perfume is really like since that’s based on < 100 ratings for the attributes but the product has +1000 star ratings. I’m also unimpressed with the different "ratings" they have. Season, occasion, and personality make sense but the other 3? Not so much. I want to know what fragrance family something is in, which seems to be the type rating, but that doesn’t include gourmand or oriental. And the attributes seem to be kind of random/more fragrance family stuff? A fragrance can be both light and fresh, but with the rating system that’s impossible (?).

Here’s the info I ACTUALLY want:

1) Season.

2) Occasion.

3) Personality.

4) Fragrance family (floral, aquatic, oriental, citrus, gourmand, etc.).

5) Strength/projection.

6) Longevity.

What they currently have is a mess of these things in various categories. The attributes category is nice, but it needs to be more focused. Plenty of perfumes can be warm and strong but this system would have you choose between the 2. What this means is that MOST ALL of the perfumes, which the company likes to boast is so many, get ratings that boil down to the same thing. Light/strong. Because a perfume is either one of these, and so perfumes are rarely ever rated with any other attributes.

Basically, if you want to try something new you have to find the fragrance and then do your own research on it to get useful reviews and ratings from other sources, because the rating system on Scentbird is garbage.

So, sketchy subscription options, constant junk mail that is often 3 times daily, and a review system that is completely unusable for actually determining if you’d like a fragrance? This has been one big disappointment and I absolutely would NOT recommend this service.

Literally the only redeeming thing is the customer service. If a bottle isn’t screwed all the way, causing you to lose most of the actual product, you DO get a replacement with one message to customer service. Still, they could streamline this more so that you don’t have to click through the same FAQ to start a ticket.

Scentbird used to be my favorite subscription

I joined Scentbird for the skincare products. At first there was a really nice selection of higher-end brands I could get at an affordable price. Lately there have been little to no new skincare products and the very few that are in stock are not ones that I want. I have been skipping a lot of months and checking back to see if any desirable skincare products had been added and they never are. I'm planning on canceling for good because I don't want perfume and even if I did I feel like for the price the size of the perfume you get is not worth it. If Scentbird started keeping good skincare products in stock and adding new products frequently like they used to I would definitely continue my subscription. As of now, I'm not interested in what Scentbird has to offer.

I ordered a large perfume and it still hasn’t arrived

I actually had a somewhat good experience with Scentbird, at first. Then I ordered a perfume that was $100, and guess what? IT NEVER ARRIVED. I ordered it in August, and it’s now the middle of November! Every time I check the shipping status it just says it’s in transit. And they have no refunds or costumer service, so I have no way of knowing if I will ever even get the perfume.

Rollercoaster of a company

I have been with Scentbird for a little over a year now, and it has had it's highs and lows, however, the lows have been more frequent than the highs.

When I first signed up for Scentbird, I loved it! My fragrances came on time or before the estimated delivery date, they smelled amazing, and the customer service was just outstanding. It would've been perfect if it could've stayed that way. In the last few months, I have had my credit card charged multiple times on accident, fragrances arriving 5-7 days or longer than the delivery date, and worst of all, since there's no phone number to contact them, you have to send an email, which can take up to two weeks for a response. Imagine my surprise after seeing my card was charged three times for the 1-month subscription fee, then having to wait for someone to contact me back via email.

If Scentbird would work on the customer service and the delivery expeditions, then it will do great as a company that offers different scents every month.

Good idea, no customer service response.

Large selection, although they take away some scents at times which is a bummer, but new ones are arriving all the time.

Don't bother with their Contact Us page or the lack of any customer service number. They have never responded back to me. So dumb.

It's okay

The scents never come at the same time of the month, but I have gotten them all. None of the scents are very good that I have had yet. I tried the suggested ones and tried picking some on my own, but have given all of them to my kids who don't care what they smell like when they play dress-up. Why is it so hard to find one good scent?!

Customer service isn't the best. Perfume is nice, would love more options.

I’ve struggled with customer service with Scentbird. I wish that things were more point and click and done. When reaching out, it took a few emails to get anything complete. I wish it was an easier process or that customers could call in. I also wish there was a wider variety.

I also feel the scent profile doesn’t match my scent preferences. I’ve added in perfumes I love and guessed new ones I may like on recommendations per Scentbird, and they just haven’t met my expectation. Overall, I’ve liked having new scents even if they don’t completely appeal to me. I don’t have to purchase a whole bottle or get a migraine trying ten different scents at a store.

I like Scentbird, but they have room to improve

So I really like Scentbird, and here is why.

- I love trying a new smell before committing to a full bottle purchase.

- I love the selection.

- I love the recommendations, and in most cases, they are perfect and are exactly what I was looking for.

- if I have an issue, these guys are super quick to fix it.

Thank you!

So, they do have room to improve, here is what I would like to see.

- Discounts on full bottle purchases for members.

- Full bottles in stock. There have been times when I find a scent that I love, but they don’t stock it, or they're sold out. This happens more often than not.

- A reward system that lets you choose how to be rewarded. For example, if I get someone to sign up for Scentbird, instead of getting a sample size, maybe I could save my points up for a full bottle.

- I would like to see a little better tracking system for orders.

- I would also like it if the shipping package was not just a bubble envelope. I have had some monthly test bottles arrive broken.

Used to be great, not so much.

I used to LOVE my Scentbird, but my last three months they can’t seem to get it together. Three months in a row, I haven’t received my shipment and had to contact them and then wait for a reshipment. I realize that shipping errors like lost packages aren’t their fault directly, but after three months in a row, I got upset. Customer service had no apology at all, simply “we can’t do much about shipping errors, just assist once you contact us.” No sorry, no appeasement, nothing.

I’m canceling my Scentbird subscription, and that makes me really sad because I used to love getting my perfumes every month.

A few tips

Everything was smooth sailing until I came across the new requirement stating that I cannot order the same fragrance for six months. That requirement just plain sucks. I don’t use the program to find a fragrance to purchase an entire bottle. I use it as a cost-effective way to purchase designer fragrances. Also, some of the reviews state that the fragrances are not authentic and that is extremely troubling. If that disclaimer at the bottom of each fragrance description is what some think, that’s enough to steer me away. What does it mean that it’s not related to the original designer? Do you rebottle designer fragrances or recreate designer scents?

Except for the reasons stated above, I’ve been happy with the service.

Half and half

Finding some new colognes was exciting! The bad part is I had to receive about 15-bottles worth that I didn't like at almost $15 a piece. That's roughly $225 that I don't want/need/disliked, which is starting to make me uncomfortable spending my hard earned money on things I cannot test first to see! I am considering stopping my payments due to the financial side effects! Thanks.

A nice way to try new perfumes

I do not wear perfume daily, and I am not a signature scent sort of person. I like to mix it up and try out new things. I figured Scentbird would be a good way to give myself a nice selection of scents to wear to keep things varied.

I think the quantity of product and overall price is fair. My complaint is that I feel the descriptions are off. Scent is highly personal, and I understand everyone can smell different things, but I'm six months in, and I don't LOVE anything I've received. I've also had one perfume that I was never able to review as the scent choice mysteriously vanished. That's pretty damn suspect imo. I was sent an email being offered a second free case, which I never received.

The case is a little problematic as well, and I find the spray works better without the case, but doesn't look nice, stand well, and isn't protected without it. I'm several months in and was just about to cancel my subscription, but this month's scent is one I've been wanting to try, so I'm holding out another month. I will likely cancel for a bit after that.

If you wear perfume a lot and like to mix it up, and are willing to share or swap the scents you don't love, I say go for it.

A little too pricey and slow shipping

It is better to just go to the department store and buy a bottle. Sample bottles leak, and you've wasted your $15. It is a hit or miss with the scents. It is better just to smell at the store and shoot around online for a full-size bottle. Not worth the money.
